@@markjones6519 hope they didn't. I once had a rat kept by himself because he was so aggressive towards any other rats in his cage. But during free roam he got to play with my other boys so it all went well

I just got a rat manor today, I know it isn’t the best possible cage but for some reason my girls are really small and they are a bit over a year old, I did get them a bunch of toys. I found that one of my girls was escaping her cage and I realized she doesn’t have enough toys and that’s why she’s getting into trouble, so today I got them so many toys and foraging toys so they get to work for their treats and many things they can do.

Hi Alyssa! I recently had a problem with one of my ratties escaping the cage, and it turned out that it was because the spacing between the bars was too big. I ended up finding an even better cage than the one I had with smaller bar spacing on Facebook market place and got a great discount on a gently used one. Hopefully the toys are helping keep her interested in remaining in her cage, but just wanted to let you know about what worked for me on case you were still looking for a solution :) good luck!

Hi Imme, I love your videos. I've always had a fear of rats. I think it commenced when I was a cherub and would watch Lady and The Tramp religiously on VHS; the scene where the rat snuck into the baby's room terrified me. But, you have demonstrated how adorable and affectionate they are and its really helped me over come part of my fear. I have had a few pairs of female mice over the years and they are the sweetest little darlings. Its sad how so many can build up a vile perception of rodents in their heads, but they really are such intelligent and loving creatures.

Omg the rat in lady and the tramp used to scare me too! I wish TV and movies would stop making them scarier than they actually are and giving them such a bad reputation, but it seems as though more people are willing to look at rats in a different light so thats good!

I got a foraging ball for my rat but she ended up ripping it apart. I would put a little bit of banana in there and it was made out of twigs I think. Anyway she basically ended up completely ripping it like almost in half. Thankfully it was really cheap but these are really interesting and seem like they would definitely last a lot longer.

One diy foraging toy I use a lot, is you can take a brown paper lunch bag, and just put in some pellets, or veggies or nuts, and then scrunch up the bag

I loooved the toys you show!! i´m going to try and DIY some of them XD the thingy for the vegetables, the stick, is a really fun idea! I try to make a couple of "surprise boxes" for my ratties everynight or so, they love them, one gets more complicated ones than the other hahaha, just things with paper, cardboard, small boxes like the ones for teabags, and i put some treats and tissues and they get really excited :)

How are you planning to keep the bedding in? I have a similar cage and want to let my girls dig for food in their bedding but it all just falls through so I just use fleece for the shallow pans

I'm having the same issue, I'm going to be ordering perspex to fit to size and raise the sides up 😊 a lot of people do this and it works well

I use a shallow hard cement mixing bowl and place it in the bottom of the cage and fill it with bedding

Wish the rat toy was still available :( Thankfully, a good alternative seems to be the Kaytee Play-N-Hay. It looks like a similar size and it comes in either a guinea pig or rabbit shape, I've just ordered the piggie shape for my rats. They adore their kabob and treat mousie, though!

I've bought the rat shaped foraging toy just hasn't arrived yet :) That's the only thing I've bought so far in terms of foraging the rest is mainly chew toys, climbing equipment and things they can sleep or hide in XD But they are going to be quite young when they arrive in the next few weeks so I don't want to make things too hard first off and I will try and introduce foraging toys gradually. I'll probably try the loo roll and even one of those kebab sticks :) Also I'm so sorry to hear about Rolo :( I know it must have been very hard to make the decision to let him go but at least he's at peace now. Take all the time you need before coming back with more videos. We will all still be here :)

the space between the bars on my girls' cage is too small for a lot of hanging or attach-to-wall toys that i've bought them... i've been able to workshop some fixes for some of them, but i have the same clear foraging wheel as you do just sitting under their cage because i haven't been able to figure out how to make it fit...someday...

They chew pretty much anything they can get their paws on. I had this wooden bridge and my boys loved gnawing on it and peeling the wood apart. If you're feeding them lab rat block, then those help keep their teeth trim too.

instead of feeding from a bowl, scatter the food around their cage. you can also do this with treats to encourage them more. also training is very good for them and stimulates their brain like foraging does :)

My 2ds camera will be packed with rattie photographs. Im so so excited!! My daddy actually had rats as pets my mommy had a mouse. You inspired me to get rats im prepared and done alot of research so i know alot about rats for when i get them. Rats are super cute i will be obsessed with them. Hi can anyone please help me with my rats. They are peeing everywhere! I’ve tried everything! I’ve tried cleaning with animal cleaner, diluted bleach. I’ve tried doing it often and sparingly in case I was making them mark more. I gave them several litter trays on the different levels in the cage. Ive tried pellet bedding, cat litter, carefresh, fleece etc. Everything in the cage is sticky and it stinks! Even the bars on the outside of the cage are dirty. Please help. ( both my rats are adult males. One neutered one not)

Try placing a flat smooth rock in the litter trays as they like peeing and scent marking on these, don't clean the rocks when you clean everything else in the cage and hopefully it'll help them to go in one place more 😊

I found carott Ball, and my rats chewed up the whole ball in one day. lol they are idiots they never had a foraging toy before. But I wish there was more rat toys and sometimes there not even interested. That's why I always let my first group rats I had out most the time. Plus they was smarter then my second group of rats lol my new ones never even tried to get off the sofa or bed. My others did in no time. I even tried putting them on the floor there fighting to get back uo like help lol but now I'm caring for my dad so I didn't want them lose at his house anyways cause I don't trust they can't get out somewhere or would come back to me like my others. I think one would probably hide from me for sure.
