I wear trail shoes to go hiking. Currently Cascadia 16. Nice Caldera 7 have the velcro built in! I always wear my gaiters. Dirty Girl Gaiters specifically. Keep my feet rock/pebble free!

I have loved my Caldera 7’s! I’m newer to trail running and have tried multiple trail shoes before trying these out. I love everything about them.

What’s your go to winter trail shoe? I had the NB More Trail v3 but the upper gets soaked. I’m running light trails in ice, snow, slush here in Canada.
@timetorunchannel14 күн бұрын
Last winter these were pretty much my favorite winter running shoes for the cushioning. But, I had to wear Showers Pass Water proof socks. These just let in too much snow and slush like the NB one you described. But recently I’ve been running in the Hoka Speedgoat 5 GTX Spike and they’re quickly becoming my next favorite winter running shoes. Especially for the Gortex aspect and the peace of mind I get with the Spikes on the bottom during icy conditions. The only thing I haven’t done extensive testing with is the fact that since they’re a regular shoe, heavy rain, deep mud and slush could hypothetically get inside the collar. So I imagine I might still wear water proof socks on occasion. No shoe is perfect. I’ll be putting out a review hopefully in the next few weeks on that shoe specifically. Hope that all helps

I need these specifically for hiking.. I typically wear the Brooks Glycerin & ghost due to my high arch & need for cushio... I will mostly use these for my hikes in the woods/rocks/maybe some creeks... which one do you recommend?
@timetorunchannel2 ай бұрын
@@melanierichie6281 The caldera 7s are a solid pick for all terrain. Really grippy lugs. From what I recall good arch support (I had zero issues with my arches in these). Light weight and cushion paired with stable support for days. Only thing is some people might be put off by the overall bulkiness of the shoe but it’s still one of my all time favorites personally, even more than the Cascadia. Hope that helps!

Not a case of good or bad some shoes just are not for everyone. To be fair I don't often like shoes branded trail as I often just find them heavy, stiff, and clunky. For me that was the case with the Caldera 7. My one serious trail run with them was very wet and they just seemed to weigh me down with an initially heavy weight to start with. Most of the time and for most trails I find a good road pair with some grip like Puma work fine. My analogy would be how many people ride full suspension bikes on trails where a hardtail would do fine. But maybe my trails are as gnarly as some. I see them as being more of a light trail hiker then a running shoe but none the less they hurt my feet, I prefer a more flexible option.

Agree 100%, I always wear road shoes on the trails where I live. I have 3 pairs of Pumas and the PumaGrip is phenomenal, never slipped or felt unstable. If I’m putting my Speedgoat’s on, I’m running on a muddy, gnarly trail.

Maybe have a look at the Adidas Agravic 3? It's got a much less blocky design than a lot of trail shoes.

Ok,I didn't like the caldera 5 because #1they changed the lacing loops from the 3 and 4 also i didn't get the 6s ,but I see the 7 got the same laces loop I think,I dont like how they cinch go back to the 3 and 4 loops,but I really want to try,as my favorite was the 3 and the camo blue and gray

I understand how frustrating it can be when things you like get changed. I will say, as I mentioned in the video, Brooks has their Run Happy Promise so you can give them a try and if you find they don’t meet your expectations then you can send them back.
@missmyoldhandle247 ай бұрын
What is the loop for, mid laces?
@timetorunchannel7 ай бұрын
From part of gaiter attachment setup. Typically there’s a metal piece on the front end of the gaiter while there’s a Velcro piece on the heel portion of the gaiter.

I didn't like the forefoot foam. Feels like there is rock or something bunched up underfoot The dual density foam is a big miss. Colors are ugly. I agree the lugs are too small. The toe box is nice and roomy. Speedgoats are still my go to.
