Great ocean system and I like your way of making video means, steps by step it make why helpful for newbies ,and also is give way over I am late though😅😅

That is what I was on about, being able to use a slider to rase lower the beach layer save having to hand paint large coastlines, I been using the M4 (Magic Map) mainly because I can raise lower the beach with a slider. I have to say tho thank you so much, there is nothing I found that goes into the detail that you do giving all the little things that miss out

For sure. I really find hand painting the texture layers just adds a little more randomness then using a mask. The next video will come out later today. I'm editing it right now. It has a lot more on hand painting the texture layers to get really nice results. And on the plus side, it is probably my favorite part of level design :).

You can create new folders in a current folder by clicking create subfolder. I do it all the time as I like to add a geometry folder to my landscape folder. Not sure if you knew that or not. Great tutorial btw.

Thank you so much! Yes, I do that all the time. I just was in a hurry trying to keep the video under 2 hours. Everything is cleaned up a lot now. And I go through it for a minute in the up and coming video :). Thanks for the heads up.

Oh any change you can maybe look at the water blocking volume pretty please, it hand under the landscape if your build tunnels or undergraound features

Yes I will get into that. I completely forgot to show the map examples for that when I did the overview. We may do that in the POI for this map we are working on. It is definitely on my video to do list :)

That was really helpful, thanks! Are you able to tell me how much RAM your system has? the only issue ive found with unreal is that 32 gigs of ram doesnt seem to be enough unless the projects relatively small

Yes, I am running 128 gigs ram 5950x and 3090TI. Ram is an issue when working with landscapes. The higher the landscape resolution the more ram you will need. That being said, it is posable to unload parts of the map you are not working on but it does hinder seeing it as a whole.

@@officialpaperplanesgame thanks, that's good to know. the main issue I was having was with landscapes yes; any idea if manually creating the landscape in unreal and sculpting it would run into the same RAM issues (and therefore needing to unload parts of the map like you said), or is this only an issue with importing?

@@spaceteapot well it depends on what resolution you build you landscape at. And how many components. Even sculpting you can create a flat landscape that is just to dense.

I'm new to UE5, does oceanology comes with a boat controller? Like a usable e customizable one where i can place my own models, define speed and etc?

I have it, and it is very nice, but a bit expensive to render on a large scale for a real time game.

@@xayberoptix In some cases yes. But all the other water systems lack one important thing. No multiplayer replication. That is a huge factor for many poeple.

@@officialpaperplanesgame That's a good point! I may need to switch over to Oceanology for my project too. Or perhaps, enable Fluid Flux only in single-player mode and switch over to Oceanology for multiplayer.

@@xayberoptix that is a viable option. It's a little more expensive but, I run oceanology with fluid ninja together to get a lot of the same features in fluid flux. You can integrate fluid ninja with oceanology pretty easy. Oceanology will have coastal waves starting version 5.1.9. I will update videos as features are released.
