While watching the opening scene of this video, it felt though it was a real ocean, Oceanology sure packs a punch. Wish I could afford it. Magnificent work.

This is a cool tutorial series. If there's a long episode with "game ready" optimization towards the end of the series, I'll be over the moon :-)

In the next video I will go over some optimization techniques. There are a lot of ways to approach optimization. So it will do as many as I can think of lol. :)

We did get some rather nasty frame drop. But, there isnt any optimizations added yet. If it wasn't for nanite this would not be possible. Even with lods and billboards we would still have to limit trees to a much lower amount.

I hope so too lol. But, I'm going to do it anyway :). I want to finish this series first. Then I will focus time on Errant landscapes and biomes.

I'm still trying to get my head round Errant Biomes so seeing your process maybe easyer for me to follow, The pro's tend to just so an aspect and not so much a procedure in context. I'd be into your process for making 16bit stamps too. And culling volumes to cull what you don't see if you use them. Oh and what rocks are those big brown-ish jaggy ones pretty please? they look choice

I tend to use exclude volumes and riase the volume to a height just above the ocean or beach to syop them spawning where I don't want. Is there a downside to doing that?

Np that works fine but, you could just set the min z value to just above the ocean z, with out adding any volumes. Works well for doing stuff like adding larger trees to higher elevations as well. So if I wanted say large trees like pine trees on the mountains. I could add the min z value at the height I want the trees to start spawning.
