Hi Thula, Thank u for the great recipe with helpful tips. Can u plz let me know the measurement for butter and shortening in grams. Also let me know if you know the names of good brands for shortening in India. Can we prepare the cake and frosting a day before store in fridge and assemble the next day. For how long should we keep the finished cake in the fridge before we cut it? Sorry for so many doubts. TIA.
@ThulasCakeLab3 жыл бұрын
No worries , happy to answer them all! Hi Priya, i stick of butter = 113 grams . I stick of shortening = 205 grams . I am not from India so i wouldn’t know. In place of shortening you can use margarine (something that’s stable at room temp) . Yes the cake should be good for Atleast 3 days in the fridge but i would recommend freezing for longer duration as it tends to dry out otherwise . Wrap it well with cling film and foil (i have a tutorial on that here -thulascakelab.com/2019/05/05/freezing-cake-layers/) .

@@ThulasCakeLab Thank u Thula for responding to all my questions. Well I meant to ask the exact measurements of the butter and shortening u used in the recipe. U have mentioned 1cup butter and 1cup shortening so if we have to take that in grams how much would that be. is this cake ready to eat as soon as its made, how long we need to refrigerate for the cake frosting to set over the cake. TIA

Hi Thula. Any substitute for shortening in the buttercream that you can add colouring to without it seperating? If substituted does the rest of the recipe stay the same? Thank you x
@ThulasCakeLab3 жыл бұрын
Hi Abi, great question and others can benefit too. Please substitute with margarine or unsalted butter.

Hi Sonal, please use the full mix prepared for the recipe. Thanks for the great point. I will add it to my follow up videos. please remember that the baking time is for 8 inch cake pans. let me know if you need advise on anything else !

@@ThulasCakeLab Thanks very much Thula for the quick reply😀 so how many layers of 8 inch is it ? I will try half the recipe just for a smaller cake N let u know

Hey, the recipe written on yourblog its mentioned to use 4tbsp milk and 600gms sugar for frosting whereas on KZbin video you have mentioned 8tbsp milk and 900gms sugar. Now what is the correct measurement to use. Please confirm. TIA
@ThulasCakeLab3 жыл бұрын
please use the blog recipe if you want to frost only two layers (without slicing each). the recipe in the video is optimized to make more frosting to decorate 4 layers. pick either one based on your decorating preference. thanks
@priyadavid19593 жыл бұрын
@@ThulasCakeLab thanks u Thula for responding. I would prefer 4layers so now I know the quantity I need to take for frosting.

Hello Thula Subscribed to your channel😊 Loved your recipe. Will appreciate if you can kindly let us know the measurements of the ingredients in cups or spoons. It will help us who don't own a food weighing scale.
@ThulasCakeLab3 жыл бұрын
Sanchita, thanks for your feedback! As a rule of thumb , i “weigh” dry ingredients (larger than a tbsp). Cup measurements don’t reproduce as well. Please send me a message on IG and i will do the best i can to help you in this situation. Best, Thula

Cups are not accurate thou x

I agree! An inexpensive weighing scale should do the trick. I will try to be more inclusive and include rough cup measurements as well 😊
