I've played more games against Klaw than any other villain, quite possibly more than all the other villains put together. He's solid, he can surprise you but he doesn't feel unfair, and he doesn't have a bunch of special rules you need to remember.

Ahhh Villain mentioned my Guerilla Tactics comment! haha lol I feel seen. That modular broke us with Red Skull. Hard to choose between you two, because you've pretty much picked my top 10 favs I think, only one missing is Mansion Attack. If forced to pick, I'd go with Nelson cause Juggernaut tipped the scale in an already strong grouping. Keep up the great videos, I really enjoy them.

There’s so many good villains in the game, but to me there’s only one that I think is perfect, and that is Magneto. You two touched on one of the aspects, about how it’s that storytelling of the side schemes that really drives the early game, it tells a story without having a lot of clunky setup like Hela (who I like but I get tired of quick because it feels samey). Magneto hits hard, the magnetic cards are amazing, and one thing I find is that he hits you on every approach. He can wreck swarms if allies, he can exhaust your upgrades, he does it all, but not to a point where you feel like he’s just saying no to what you want to do. He’s also hard to just specifically tech against he isn’t an exploitable silver bullet villain. Basically he just feels like an epic scenario, you feel like you’ve really done something important after Magneto, but not to the level where you’re like, “thank god that’s over” like you might with someone like Loki. Magneto is the villain that has you saying “that was epic, I thought I was going to lose, he dragged me through the mud and I scraped out a victory at the last minute, and I’d be perfectly happy to set the scenario up again right away and do it all over”. The scenario is a masterpiece.

Yup, Magneto is great. He's currently my favorite among the tougher villains, but I haven't played all the campaigns yet.

It's close! My favourite of these picks are Magog, Juggernaut, Green Goblin, Ultron and Magneto. I think VT just takes it, despite having the weakest choice in Klaw. But I must say I am FLABBERGASTED that neither of you took Venom. Here we have an iconic villain in a unique and highly thematic scenario which will push you to make tough decisions about when to attack and anger him. With the Bell Tower as an extra tool which can provide the player(s) with both offense and defense he can be approached using a wide variety of decks and strategies. Outstanding design all around!

Venom was on my list but sadly the new 1.5 rules reference broke that scenario for me. I still play the bell tower as it used to work in my own play, but officially, with the new way taking/dealing damage has been made to work, I don't like it at all.

​@@VillainTheory That's it, I'm changing my vote to Nelson... lol jk It's too bad that the rule updates made it less fun for you. I'm not too familiar with what the rules were like before the change. Tough statuses and Forcefield Generators could have helped keep the bells ringing, it seems. Is there a bigger change that I'm missing? Maybe it's something to do with the Quiet side?

Basically things like that. Before, it wasn't until you took damage that you removed counters. In addition to Toughs, it means you can't use defensive stuff like Side Step or Backflip first before losing counters too and it's very weird with Shadowcat's defense.

No love for The Hood? It’s my personal favorite villain, just because of the sheer variability of modular sets you can get from him. Every time I get new content, I run him with the new modulars just to see them in action. He can be a bit of a pain in the ass because of all the shuffling modular sets in and out you have to do all the time during and after the game, I get that. But that feels to me like the only downside - other than that, he’s a really straightforward and fun villain with thematic justifications to use just about any modular sets you want.

I like the idea of the hood, but he feels so punishing sometimes! Especially in stage three I feel like sometimes I am playing Heroic 3 😂 I really love his design though and need to break him back out!

My personal list would have probably been Juggernaut, Mutagen formula, Klaw, Venom and Magneto. There's definitely more overlap with Villain's list, so I gotta give this one to him. This being said, Klaw is very cool, but a very odd first pick, and I personally really dislike Ultron (even if I totally agree it's a very well designed villain), so that also factors into it.

First of all, you both get down voted for leaving out Night of the Sentinels. I really like having alternate win/loss conditions. I guess since Villain chose MaGog, I will give the win to him in this draft.

I gotta go with villain on this one. Magneto, kang, and mutagen are all in my top 5, and mutagen specifically is my #1. I wish someone had given crossbones a shout out, since he can take three modular sets. If the premise of the draft is the only 5 villains you get from now on, I think that makes crossbones (or the hood) really special to the draft

Great choice! 😉 My problem with Crossbones is in three parts - some of his encounter cards are a bit weak for my liking, his hp is lower than I prefer, but perhaps most of all is that I don't mind adding an extra modular set to most scenarios which gives me that kind of customization in any 2-modular scenario.

Honestly I think if you take out Goblin Gear and replace it with Gimmicks (an easy and also large modular set), I think Venom Goblin is actually a really cool scenario. He’s always going to be hard but by watering him down you get to see what’s a pretty awesome scenario, lots of interesting decisions. Another one that isn’t in my top 5 but I think is underrated is Sabretooth. I think he’s my favorite “beat stick” villain in the game, ahead of Juggernaut. Because he has 2 modular spots you can do a lot with him, especially adding modulars with high boost icons. Throw in Lady Deathstrike and Reavers. Throw in Acolytes and Super Strength. He’s just cool, and you can’t ignore thwarting with him either. I think Sabretooth is incredibly underrated.

I think I gotta go with Nelson on this one. I'm not the biggest fan of Kang or MaGog (I like them, but they're not in my top 10), but I love every other villain mentioned in this list. I think my top 5 (from 5 to 1) would be Juggernaut, Magneto, Ultron, Sandman, and Mutagen Formula. Hela and Sinister Six are also very close to that top 5 though, which gives the edge to Nelson for me. Also Red Skull was an incredible pick, I haven't played him in forever but man I love that scenario.

@@NelsonAllOverCards Yeah, I feel like he's probably middle of the pack for a lot of people, but something about him I just absolutely love. It just feels so thematic and I love Sandman as a character a lot, and the focus on alter-ego stuff with the Down to Earth modular is just a ton of fun for me. It just feels like things can spiral out of control with the sand counters if you're not too careful and I love that aspect (it gets crazy in heroic but never too extreme where it isn't fun).

My top 5 is Sinister Six, Mutagen Formula, Magneto, Juggernaut and Venom which makes picking who won very difficult. I think by a very slight difference, I'd have to go with Nelson because I also do really enjoy Red Skull and Ultron in his list, whereas with VT's I really enjoy MaGog. Klaw and Hela are perfectly middle ground for me and I personally only really enjoy Kang in multiplayer, but not so much solo.

@@NelsonAllOverCards I think it's because Venom is such an iconic character and for me, the Bell Tower is a fun mechanic, especially since aggression is my favourite way to play and it's really to get like 7-10 counters on it in a single hit.
