Cons of striking wards are that they’re easily seen when dewarding. I prefer gold Shifty Minnow since it’s hard to notice (UNTIL VALVE DECIDED TO PUT WARD HEALTH ON TOP OF THEM LUL) unless you’re quick to watch for enemy ward icon on the mini map. Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember it having a smaller model but then got updated due to it not seeable. Other ward with this “lowkey” trait I believe is Eye of Thunderkeg. A bit colorful than Minnows but small enough to hide itself on the map.

I have the Smeevil's Penance for a long time now but I'm just worried it can easily be spotted when they are trying to deward. I sometimes like to hide my wards in trees so I'm curious if the particle effects will easily give its location.

I really don't think it makes a difference. If they have vision of your ward already I don't think there is any case where the particle effect decides if it gets dewarded or not.

That link definitely doesn't show anything with locked styles, you must have placed a buy order and not bought an item directly.
