Monkey King arcana is another good example as it lets enemies know if you skilled your ult and what level it is, I noticed Ame never used the MK arcana and it's likely the reason he doesn't use it

There is an Omniknight hammer that changes the effect of Holy Light, normally when you use the spell the light effect comes from above but with the hammer instead the light goes from omniknight to the target, since it is possible to heal your ally from the fog of war the hammer will reveal your position while normally you can just stay hidden with no information as to where the spell was cast from. The PA persona had some extra animation that made you wait longer to move after jumping, AM persona had a way to tell in which direction AM jumped, don't know if either of those have been fixed.

Ok so, it is good to know that I'm not crazy....this is something that came to my attention a while ago, and was I was wondering if I was exaggerating, well, it seems that that is not the case. It is funny that a good handful of things that you mention here are things that I actually had noticed in some of my games, like being able to notice some trail effects and actually helping me to know that I may be getting gang (and actually escape because of it)

I'll have to comment on the wards. This is a very rare occurrence, but I'm using the Eye of foresight wards, and there are situations where you don't want to deward just a sentry. The Eye of foresight wards' only difference between sentries and observers are the eye color, and they even have some blue glow under the eye. Obviously on higher levels they wouldn't be mistaken, and you can see what wards are in vision from the minimap. However, once or twice in some unranked games I've seen an enemy not deward my observer and sentry, even when they specifically went to deward the cliff. Very minor thing, I know, but I've witnessed this happen.

Speaking of weather effects, I almost exclusively use Desert terrain and Rain weather, it creates very easy for eyes, depressingly gray picture which just doesn't stress your sight too much and I like the sound of rain

There is a ward that it's hit-box is not locked to the static part of the model, is locked to one of it's moving part, when the moving part is in it't apogee you can uphill miss hit with range heroes even though the ward it's planted at the same ground level as you.

IO's green skin (not arcana) is also kinda pay to lose. I have noticed that my teammate don't easily understand the visual cues to certain effects. Or they aren't used to and are more comfortable with default skin. Very niche but you come to notice this after several hundred hours playing with that skin.

rubick arcana is abit of a grey area. You equip if you play with pubs, you unequip if you are playing with friends beacuse it's easier to communicate. One time I throw a blackhole in pub, without arcana, my team ran away lol

CM pet dog is definitely wonky sometimes. Last match I played, I was jungling sidecamps. I had no vision of anything. I was aware of enemies being out of the map and was looking at my left (putting my hero on the right side of the screen and farming) I never got the slightest sliver of enemy vision but cm dawg just ran across a tree, I reacted quickly but axe grabbed my ass and killed me but still I knew they were coming.

Actually i m so surprised that you didn't mention to puck immortal to his dream coil actually there is a trick that if you go on the edge of puck s ult and use eul the coild will break and you don t stun and take no dmg (not sure about dmg) but it s soo hard to do if the guy doesn't have the immortal but with puck immortal is much much easier. Yes, is more visible at start, but, with practice u can bait enemy spells pretty well bc if u cancel W right on End animation, the Effect of the flower opening is completed (Making the BAIT) rather than retroactively going back 🍷🗿That is not possible with Default W or w/Kinetic Gems When he was in the meta, I already saved many teammates by baiting them with this trick. 🍷🗿

I don't agree with the statement about couriers. There's a reason why black couriers/dark couriers (without effects) were removed and don't exist. Except one (Hyeonmu). When we lane, there's a spectrum of colors that our brain is expecting to see. Light colors are noticed right away, but when using your peripheral vision, there's this one turtle courier that you can't see, except the health bar.

The threads discussing things like this online are flooded with similar responses like “you just suck only terrible players care about this”, when it’s interesting to look at the decisions valve has made and have a discussion about these aspects of the game regardless.

i feel like most of the issues of being pay to lose, is that the default effects are just shit, and should be redesigned to be more clear to understand. dota 2 is already a very complex game just thanks to it's mechanics, and having the game be harder to read thanks to poor particle effects feels like a cheap, garbage way of making the game even harder, QOL stuff that just makes the game more readable (like making the mana bar always visible in the health bar) should be a priority. this game does not need trashy visual information for it to be challenging and strategic.
