Man, Speedmaster Profossional being 6k is crazy. Just in 2019 I bought one with stickers (grey) for less than 3k. And in the earlier 2010's they were 2k. I find it hard to talk about value with these inflated prices in the current luxury watch market. I used to be into watches and bought a luxury watch every now and then. But now I'm like no thanks.

The Pandemic changed everything. I was buying Rolexes for under 5K in 2018. You can still get good deals on most brands. Only a few brands and models have gone insane.

It's really just for people with silly money to have fun with now. Average or reasonably well paid people are just plain irresponsible if they spend over 3k on a watch

I don't understand why IWC's are so popular and so expensive. They don't appear to really offer any value and the designs are often really basic.

So a basic design doesn’t allow a watch to be expensive? Interesting… What allows an Oyster Perpetual to be priced even higher? It’s also highly basic and the built quality is not a tiny bit better than IWC‘s usual quality

I do agree that to the untrained eye and from a 10 ft distance, the difference between a Mark XX and a top of the range Laco can be minimal. But isn’t the same between a €250 Orient Bambino and a 5196G Calatrava ? Those who know, know.

Yeah, from a performance to price perspective, it's really hard to beat the Tissot PRX and Gentleman for $500-1000.

@@gpearce11 I went to try the PRX and hated it. I recognize it may be a great and popular watch, but there are several others waiting to be discovered and analyzed. As a new (and pretty amateur) watch enthusiast, I want to see more good options.

@@lolollolol5654 Yes, I owned a blue PRX 80 briefly but I found it to wear surprisingly too large with the draping end links. Curious about the 35 but worried it might be too small. I'd love to see it at 37-38.

Totally agree with IWC Mark XX! The watch is classically thin with an incredibly comfortable, high quality bracelet. Not to mention the new 5-day power reserve and 100m water resistant feature. Your videos / reviews are awesome!

My only gripe with these kind of watches is that you can get the exact look and a decent automatic movement for a fraction of the price. And it does not feel like you are losing out on much. While there are other watches where you can at least point at something and say, this is what makes it worth it from an aesthetic point of view.

Frankly I pretty much agree with all of these. Maybe not the IWC but great picks overall! I know it’s not in stores yet but instead of the IWC I’d be on the terra cotta dial new Aqua Terra.

I am quite proud over my small but very nice collection. I have one Seiko SRP53K1, great watch for the money which I can wear without any worries, same with my Luminox (don’t know what version) but it has been specially customised for the Swedish coastal rangers decorated with a golden trident, and not many people have it. Then as a graduations gift I got a Rolex sea dweller, which my dad has used since the 90s. Very proud of my collection and I am planning on buying a Tissot prx powermatic 80, however that will be in a few years…

I am a Omega vintage collector. From 1934 to 1973. All are great watches. At Christmas I bought an Invicta pro diver for $49. It is beautiful and accurate. That is watch is supposed to Do. I bought for the times I am in a major city. I would rather loose a $49 watch instead of mutiple thousand dollar watch

I have just bought the cartier Santos, and its my first Luxury Watch. it has the perhaps the best strap chang mechanism (smart link) and you can easily remove links from the bracelet. It was the first ever wrist watch, and the first ever pilots watch. Cartier watches has been worn by most of the recent First Ladies, many royals etc. I think it has the history, the design, the finish, the history. But the speed master is just, the most iconic ever, it’s the father of the daytona. They are both killer watches, and for me personally it’s a win for Santos, but realisticly it’s a hard tie

$6K for a coax Speed master is kind of insane to me. I had one in 1997 for $1,000 USD at the mall store Fortunoff. Adjusted for inflation that would be $1850 USD today. Are you getting Three times the watch today or are the watch brands getting THREE times the profit?

Awesome list! The BB58 and SBGM221 are two of my favorite watches. I own the 58 but not the 221 as it’s still a bit big for my wrist so I have the SBGW231 for now. I’d like to see an article on WC of your top 3 watches in every category in each price bracket. That would be a fun read!

Took a look at the Chronoscope at the local dealer and I have to say the pusher action was a bit flimsy. Not wobbly but…uncertain when pushed, almost like 2 clicks were felt. Anyone else has experienced it?

Congrats on the 50k, Max! Love that IWC is now using an in-house movement, but not happy with the significant price difference from the Mark XVIII haha. However, if the Mark XX will have a Le Petit Prince collab, I'll probably dive head first for it.

They dropped the Le Petit Prince caseback, but the blue dial on the Mark XX is identical in color to the XVIII LPP edition.

Great video and choices, Max. Really hard to argue with most of them! You put the two dress watches I’d likely go for with the Orient Bambino and the Junghans MaxBill… I think I’d go for the Junghans based on design and finishing? Thoughts? Seeing the Longines Spirit 37 makes me think I should maybe skip those two and just get that and throw it on a great leather strap when it’s time dress up! Damn that seems like a great value! For the GS GMT, what keeps the Tudor Diet Pepsi out of the award versus the GS? For the IWC Mark XX, I’m a little surprised the Omega AquaTerra 38 with the colourful dials didn’t win this out. What put the IWC over the top? Question: there’s a distressed blue(?) strap you show on the Orient Bambino 38 at one point… where is it from? Wonderful pics here overall and great year for the channel. Really glad I found this one and subscribed. I’ve been recommending it to many folks.

Good old Orient watches. Beloved of the KZbin watch community, especially the US ones. I live in Aus and the best place to get them seems to be Amazon Aus. Prices aren't that cheap and I'd rather pay $100-150 Aus more for a Seiko Presage.

If you got the wrist for it, go for the regular and save a buck, but the 58 is a lot thinner and has a slightly better movement

I only have the Speedmaster, new hesalite version (and the Santos), and still agree that this list was terrific. I thought the Seamaster 300M would be great in the 4000-5000 tier, but the size of it probably eliminates a lot of potential buyers. Can't argue with the GS.

One thing that I may add is that quartz is more accurate than mechanical. I care about accuracy and wouldn’t want to be more than +8 seconds with a watch.

A Longines spirit or heritage model like the lld, the grand Seiko GMT sbgm221 or the quartz and a omega speedmaster makes the perfect watch collection and it'll come in pre owned below 10k.
