I work in I.T. and interviewed a few people during my tenure. I made 100% sure to NOT ask this stupid question nor do I ask "why are you interested in the position?". I don't care about personal details nor do I care about why the person is interested in the position since I'm sure the primary reason for the interest is that they need a job.

I got the job! I had three days to prepare for my interview, and I watched and listened to your videos many times! I practiced my answers out loud in my house, in my car, outside. I studied and thought of my strong points and what I'd done in my career that would assist with the position I interviewed for. I picked out and tried on my clothes in advance, got my hair done and made sure I left in plenty of time for my interview. I utilized the body language techniques, and was at ease to express enthusiasm for the things in the job I was excited about. I did the "Thank you" email, and the two week follow-up. Tomorrow I begin my job as Administrative Assistant II in a government position! Thank you for your helpful videos!! I really feel they helped me secure this job!

I just had my first phone interview after years in school and I didn't give myself near enough time to prepare for it (cause I'm a dummy), so I was here this morning giving myself a youtube crash course in interviews. I just wanted to let you know that your videos were the most helpful and you were right this is literally THE FIRST question and also a situational question later. I was so glad I had watched a bunch of your videos cause even though I didn't have time to practice I at least had some notes down so I had a direction to follow and an end (so no rambling! yay!). And also, for the situational question, what I did was print out the job description with a few lines os space between each sentence and wrote in notes about how my experience fits into each section and how I could tie a story in if relevant/asked. Which came in really handy. Thank you very much for your help! I will keep watching your videos as I prepare for the in-person interview (which I WILL get, I can feel it). PS: I got an invite to the in-person interview! PPS: I got the job!!! Cue happy dance in 3...2...1!!! Woo! PPPS: I have been laid off due to Cv19. PPPPS!!!: The company called me up midway through 2021 and asked me if I was still interested and to reapply. So I’m back! And much happier, I even get to work from home permanently!

It's a good foreshadowing of how a company looks after itself and puts all the load onto you. Answer it to your best discretion but just know there is a right and wrong way to answer. I had a teacher like that in college. Write me an essay on this topic however you want. So I did. He said it wasn't what he wanted. So I asked him to clarify. He said use your best judgement. Like wtf.

The behavior questions I was asked were difficult; this "tell me about yourself" question was by far was the easiest. (thanks to your video and lots of practice). Three that I can remember: 1) Tell me about a time someone practiced (i'm in healthcare) differently than you and what was the outcome 2) Tell me about a time you did something outside your job that was NOT healthcare related 3) Tell me about a time you had to do something that was completely different from what you normally do and was outside your comfort zone/knowledge (something like these) --- maybe you can cover these in your other videos.

Sooo this is what I'm planning to say. :) Well, this is my first job so I don't have any real work experience but that's the reason why I'm so excited. This will be a new experience for me and help me get my foot in the door. This seems like a really good entry-level job for someone with limited experience such as myself. I do have experience working with others online selling my artwork, I do it with my friend as a hobby. It's actually her mother, *her name*, who recommended me this job since she's been working here and believes I would be a good fit. I do all of my shopping at this store so I'm familiar with it, I also happen to live within walking distance so if I were to have car troubles I would still be able to make it.
@chiapets12345 жыл бұрын
Krystal Star I would probably leave out that the job is to get your foot in the door and that it’s an entry level job for you. That makes it seem like you are only using them for experience and once you have that, you will move on. Companies like to think you’ll stay with them long term. Not just to spend the time and money on training you to get your foot in the door for the next position you apply for.

Due to my position at a student champion, I have been able to develop my communication skills and to adapt them so that those people who do not speak English can understand what I am trying to do with them to help them academically.

I would love to know more about that checklist, but I can't find it in the links below. Where could I find that?

I prepared for this question so well (in my opinion) and I just had an interview today and I didn’t get asked this question but I’m not complaining 😁

My last interview was 16 years ago. It was little more than: "Do you want to work here?" "Yes". Just been made redundant due to covid-19 so find myself looking for a new job at the age of 53. I have lots to tell (qualifications and experience) and now know how to do it! Just need to get an interview.........

If you’re not getting the interviews, it means your resume and application need work! I would go back and revisit them

Very useful to think back through the last few jobs with examples that align with the job you are trying for.

I would say it did. They called my references on Friday. I praying for a call back. Your question to ask after an interview had them shocked. Thank you!! 😊

Very helpful! Have a question: When answering why the interviewee is interested in the position, this being a student internship position, is it appropriate to mention they have a friend/student classmate who is interning there now and that person has said great things about working there? And that the interviewee enjoys working with this person on group class projects (which they would do for the internship)?

Hoo boy how much I felt that. So, after watching 5 minutes of this video, I paused it and tried practicing what you said around 5:00 about how it was easy to repeat it in your head. But saying it aloud was another story, now being the introvert that I am. I realized how much I needed practice at that. It took me at least 5 times to try and repeat back what I wrote aloud without having to say it incorrectly. Or misread it wrong. After the 5th try, I got it right. Then I did it again to make sure I was not stretching what I was believing. For those who are wondering this is what I said. "Well, other than the only job experiences I received was from job training at my old school I mentioned in the resume, and then moving on to SCC, most out of 90 percent of the jobs I did were janitorial work or close to that of stocking or being a busboy in outback steakhouse. However, when my job coach told me about how Little Caesar's is partnering with Baarc. I got excited because it will give me many more experiences stacked upon the ones I mentioned." So, after repeating this very sentence. I felt more confident in saying it after the 6th time I said it. You earned a like and subscribe from me.
