@mw48282 жыл бұрын
Hundo. Another important part he didn't mention is to keep the contracts of these free players short (1 year for most, 2 years if they're star players is probably ok). Having a lot of wage budget to work with when you get promoted is very important.
@joritverkerk39472 жыл бұрын
@@mw4828 Yeah this is something I struggled with loads. When you grow too much too fast, and these free players that were star players two years ago don't even make your first eleven anymore and start whining. Short contracts is smart

definitely. In fact, I don’t even renew my staff members contracts if I feel I can get better members, start of every season I will get better staff before better players.
@derekgalbraith15082 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, with one little caveat. Even when you get to the stage that the free signings don't necessarily improve your team, it can still make sense to sign 2/3 of them every year as long as you're confident of being able to sell them (or your existing equally good players). This can really boost your transfer budget to go and compete for those wonderkids against the bigger clubs sniffing around them. For example, I just signed Riyad Mahrez at the end of his contract for Celtic. Think he was maybe 32 at that point. Not a lot of elite level seasons left in him at that point but it was easy enough to sign him, use him as a squad player for 6 months, and then sell him in the January window for something like a £12m profit. And of course remember to look out for good players at big teams who just don't get the game time they want. I got Joe Rodon from Tottenham for £800k, sold him a year later for £16m. I got Ferran Torres from PSG for £12m and sold him on for £26m not long afterwards. Just because they weren't happy about their playing time. It's always easy enough to move quality players like these on for a good profit after playing them for 6-12months.

Awesome vid Z. Very relevant to my current save (Bath City). In season 7 and it's our first year in league one. Transfers paid to date: 32.5k on Kyle Hudlin at the start of year 3 who was just released after 3 seasons with the club where he scored 81 goals as the club got promoted up to league one. One thing I'd recommend for people is to pay attention to the youth intakes for the PL teams and try to sign the youth players that they choose not to sign.
@sunnyhvar19922 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah 😅 was looking for a tall striker, didn't even realize how tall of a striker I found in Kyle 😆 did OK for me in the Narional League, but I got offered a better, younger striker, so I ended up doing that, with him as a backup... And as for the youth intake, my best player a central defender got let go from Chelsea, he agreed to come play down here, and might be the best defender in the league - I understand that he's not good enough for Chelsea, but honestly, as a 18 year old (? I think, havent opened that save in a a bit...), he can get better, and I feel like they got rid of him too soon, but I'm not complaining 😅
@davidrichards6132 жыл бұрын
That last point is spectacular. I signed 4 of those youth rejects in ajanuaey after taking over Brackley Town in the bottom 5 or 6, we made the playoffs. Next season we got promotion in 1st. Be particularly aware that speed is a game changer down there. I got a player I knew from West Ham who's pretty fast, but in the lower leagues there's barely anyone that quick. He'd just roast every full back and either have a go himself or play in a striker.
@TTGHAST2 жыл бұрын
I like to think myself as a youth developer in FM. But the truth is, 60-70% of the wonderkids will not reach their potential, and only a few will actually make a breakthrough in your first team, without sacrificing competitiveness. So yeah, signing free players is a great deal, and unwanted players in bigger clubs aswell. Cause they'll most likely make an immediate impact and, should a younger player come along for their position, you can easily sell them for a profit. And money is everything in FM. It can be reinvested in better facilities and personnel to help younger players reach their potential.

Not sure what sort of budget the board is about to offer for next season - and there's rumours of a pending takeover of the club I'm managing. At some stage I know I need to step up my signings so that my reserves can essentially win me the league while my first team competes in Europe.

I think the main issue most ppl face (including myself) is “PATIENCE”. I wanna win everything NOW!! But it’s ok to finish 5th, 4th , or 3rd etc for a few seasons as you’re building ur team and developing players for the future. Yeah it’ll take some time but isn’t that the fun part ? Lol. Kinda. At the moment I’m managing Sporting in Portugal 🇵🇹, yeah it’s a big team but my goal is to win champions league , and I’m good w just chillin for a few seasons while I’m developing these kids and setting up my team and tactics and playstyle that’ll get us to challenge really hard in the champions league! I’m only using my youth kids and if I sign anyone I’m only signing Portuguese players (trying to get Portugal to be dominant). But yeah, just be patient, it’s hard I know bc we wanna have success early but it’ll pay off once you take ur time and actually build ur team and develop those kids ! QUESTION (and maybe idea for a video): How do you keep your players happy while playing in multiple competitions? I play in Romania with Farul Constanta and every year I qualify for European competitions (by winning the league). As I often play every three days I like to have 2 teams in order to have my players fresh for every match. Because the league is easier I use my best team in European competitions. I partially disagree with this because you say "it's all about winning now so you get some money" but you also say "you don't spend a lot of money early on". What I did on my FCSB save was this: sign quite a few free agents starting in the 1st transfer window. Sell all of them for profit (decent wage + higher wage after 5 games, low signing on fee, high bonuses...they never get to claim those anyway). Only made offers for players that were wanted by others and that I would be OK to have on my team if I couldn't offload them in the 1st (same) window. Use that profit to get 1st team starters, free or transfers, but I plaid in installments and bonuses for transfers and use them to win the title and do well in Europe. Doing that means you get more prize money, you increase reputation, you get higher EU coefficient and you can sell those players 2nd season to get even better ones and even more free agents and do the same thing all over again. By doing that I'm just investing all my money in players; they're like assets for me and I cash in on them because they play well, because we're winning games and a lot of them are wanted by other clubs. The higher the transfer revenue is, the more profitable this method is; but even with a 40-50% revenue, you still make money because your balance keeps growing and when you legit buy players, you pay in installments so the transfer budget doesn't take a big hit. 10-25% revenue like in FAC is a bit yikes, I'd say you break even but even if you don't make money thru transfers if you actually buy players, but you get a better team that helps you win, get more prize money, reputation and EU coefficient.

How the heck do you play champions league as number two in Austria. In my save all clubs must have choked so hard while I was building to get into Europe and the country dropped about 10 places and now even the Champion has to go through the quali to get to the cl lol

In Brazil, contracts usually end up in December, simply because it's the end of our season. We play the Brazilian league 2022, not the BL 2022/2023. We are right and you are wrong, rest of the world! Every single one of you! Lol

In my FC Bayern 2 career I didn't buy a single player and sold 3 players and yet we are at the top of the league in 3.Liga with no losses and no draws. And in my Bournemouth career I signed players in PL with no more than 10million pounds despite our transfer budget being about 47 million pounds after winning the Championship. And not only that I was able to retain my squad players. Soccernomics works wonders if you know what you are doing as a manager not just in the game in real life as well.
@Flinsenberger1012 жыл бұрын
Imho there is another thing. Signing fully developed first team stars. There are always these key players in sides not in the international competitions that are above your own player's ability. Wonderkids often somehow fail to develop. Maybe the player is just not right for the position you play them. Or has some detrimental hidden attributes. And your 5* potential player develops some, but suddenly is only 3.5* potential, and not the world beater you wanted him to be, but a squad player. That happens to me more often than not. Especially with my goalies and my centre backs. So while I sign a lot of wonderkids, I am usually looking for 1 big signing a season. A player that is already world class, or close to it, aged 21-25, playing at a lesser club, wanting to make the next step in his career and able to make an instant impact. Costing somewhere between 40 and 80 million euro.

Can someone please explain how to get faces/logos/real name fixes on my save? I’ve just got FM for the first time on my Mac and I’ve spent all day watching videos on how to do it and still can’t seem to get it right
@Oneath2 жыл бұрын
I tend to disagree with Zealand here, there are some good deals to be made with players which have great stats, great potential, though they are not Wonderkids or for free, but are very cheap to get. Those deals I would not miss out at all, just for the sake of not paying any transfer fees.
@thatissomeBS2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the club, the financial situation, and what level you're at. A lot of clubs in the lower leagues have near-zero transfer budgets and shaky financial situations. If you have a bit of a budget and find someone that fits the bill, obviously you should take the upgrade. But you also have to be careful because that small transfer budget is also used for signing bonuses and such, so sometimes in something like League Two with a 20k transfer budget, that can be better used as signing fees for 5-10 players on a free rather than one or two transfers. signing.

Could a "trail farm" work IRL? like is there a team out that only signs freebies and offers trails to a few dozen players every summer? I'd be very interested to find out
@daviebananas17352 жыл бұрын
There was definitely a team a few years ago who had had money problems I think and ended up at the start of the new season with only 3 players or something and they had open trials with over a hundred players and signed some of them. I’ve read about load of clubs also having open trials at points too, although normally not the big boys obviously. I don’t think it’s the first team guys who have anything to do with these though.

Not exactly the same, but Clermont Foot has a transfer policy where they can only sign free agents. They are in Ligue 1 and they actually got promoted like this

How much money do you think it would take to build a Prem team from nothing? Like to get the mix of experience and youth in full from fresh
@SimersFM2 жыл бұрын
When you say start from nothing what do you mean? Like a league 2 team? 3-5 years to get into Prem, 5-7 years to win the league is a good goal.
@OddlySpecificGaming2 жыл бұрын
@@SimersFM Nah I was thinking like gut a team so no players at all and put in the prem how much money to make a team that could challenge short and long term
@SimersFM2 жыл бұрын
@@OddlySpecificGaming The issue would be payroll and reputation - you could build a team with free transfers that could probably avoid relegation provided you have enough payroll and reputation that they would join. I mean there shouldn't be reason to ever get relegated in the premier league provided you bring in some good loan players.

Have you ever seen a ‘never never’ deal backfire? I feel like there isn’t enough consequence for these types of deals.
@spsawyer222 жыл бұрын
Depends on "backfire"...I paid out 50M in installments for what I thought was the world's best wonderkid and in 2 years he's blown out his ACL year 1 and had a broken ankle year 2 with no improvements and actual downside to his physicals. So looking at an awful loss on a player I normally would have just accepted I couldn't afford without the never never heh. Edited to add: Also bought a kid from VVV Venlo for 2M and just sold him to PSG for 95M so life could be worse on this save.
@RyanGBB88 Жыл бұрын
I very rearly hoard players particularly wonderkids. I always go for a slow burn. For the first 6 month I always try to use what I have and then start making changes. Then once I have an established system thats working with some good team spirit i then just trade up. Usually keep my squad size at about 23 with only a handfull of youth prospects. I just Make sure every player I bring in is better than what I have and where ever possible spend less than what I'm selling for. After a few seasons you have enough money to buy what ever you need to progress and a few years after that you can start picking up top class new gens for cheap and you start to produce your own. I usually end up dominating my league then europe within about 6-10 season depending on what division I start in. I like to try keep it as realistic as possible

Wages are also crucial. Never sign anyone who is overpaid, not free agents either.
