This club has always been my first choice, if I want to rebuild Hungary. Because it has decent facilities, a fairly new small stadium, domestic sleeping giant, affiliation with Liverpool and a reputation for producing national team players. You can see that many HGC of the Hungarian national team are currently from MTK

thats the issue with modern younger fans, most don't know the history past like watching clips of Jay-Jay Okocha doing rainbow flicks, I know they're the nucleus tactically (Budapest Honved gave the players) for the Mighty Magyars that did what Hungary recently did to England but back in the 50s and got a World Cup final from it

Aberdeen signed 2 players from MTK Budapest this season and both have been sensational for us. Miovski has already hit double figures in the league and Ramadani has been solid in the defensive midfield role

i did a ujpest save where i became champion like 8 times in 9 (then got bored because never passed the group stage of the CL, but fehervar and puskas akademia did an hungarian conference league final with puskas winning - so i was able to scale their championship a bit too.) MTK was the best club in terms of youth facilities - the only hungarians i purchased were from them. so yeah its an excellent club to start with, plus it also has some european history.

Around 6th-7th there is often a stall phase due to how much is required to make progress, however if you push through a couple of seasons of stasis you find there is a second wind and suddenly you start making progress again :)

I did something similar in FM19 with Maribor (Slovenia) and had 200-300 people on loan, not just to rival clubs, but also to make money with them. The club was profitable every month.

This is actually really great advice for something similar that I am trying. Although my save would probably take a lot longer as I am trying to build a nation (league and national team) for South Africa. It's gonna be difficult because the only way to improve reputation is with the club world cup because even if we had a bunch of wins within Africa, we will hit diminishing returns when we are 15-20 years into winning all the African comps. The other issue is that since it is a poor country, we would have to sell players to get the finances for facilities, which is a pain because we get paid 1M Euros for players that end up having values of 5M as soon as they arrive in Europe. I saw another video of a guy loading in a bunch of Brazilian players into the database to increase money, so I might do that in conjunction with the advice given here.

I got my own version of it. Building a nation by managing one-by-one all clubs in The league. You take first team, make them CL level in 3-8 years and change for the second team for another 3-8 years and then again. Made Iceland 6th league in Europe by 2046 ;)

Great challenge, lots of luck! Did this on FM19 starting unemployed. Spent 5 seasons from up and downs in the 2nd tier with 3 teams until I managed to promote with Paksi + winning the national Cup in the same year. Won another 3 National Cups in a row and then moved to Videotom with whom I dominated national football with 5 leagues + cup titles and got to two finals in a row of the Europa League (lost both). All of this with 70% of the Squad being hungarian and with 50% of homegrown players. Later I led the NT into semifinals of the Euro Cup and to the Quarters of the World Cup. You should try to develop more the national football (players + NT) since it is also a big part of developing the football level of a Nation (which you didn't do in the last Building a Nation save).

You'd think that'd be the case right? Sadly FM doesn't have that feature set despite promoting it as a feature for FM22. The national team may improve due to players taking on a different nationality and declaring for your nation. There may also be some slightly increases in quality due to other teams improving their youth facilities but sadly there are very few changes on the national team level :(

If i want to do the build a nation challenge, which version of fm would you advice ? Fm23 has the monster CL format , im not sure if that is a good or a bad thing for increasing coefficient rapidly. Reading mixed opinions on fm23 being a step forward or step back. I have fm22 and fm21 as alternatives, fm22 has slower regen growth which I still dont quite like however.

I am back into FM since FM2018. Never heard of a 'Build a Nation' save before. Seems a great way to play the game besides a Journeyman save. However, I feel the Loan Farm system explained in this video is quite gamey/cheesy.

I'm doing a similar save but in a fantasy nation based on Latvia with 0 rules, but starting from stone dead last in coefficients AND not starting top flight for myself so good luck Matt on this hope you do better than I probably will but I can add one extra thing to tick off, do NOT allow them to play v parent club as that may be cheeky but its a legitimate rule in many loan deals and you'll notice the league gets easy real fast

The parent club issue was massive for us in Ireland last year, even when we tried to insert clauses to let players play against us, clubs seemed to take it out lol. For this save i've edited the league rules to force it, thus making the league harder for us and more competitive :)

I find that they sometimes rate the transfers quite low, but i usually find enough talent that they don't complain too much. Especially as it often gets offset by winning domestic trophies and stuff like that

A couple pronunciation tips: the authentic pronunciation of MTK is more like "em-tey-kah" And your pronunciation of Ferencváros was pretty good, but the "c" in there is pronounced like a "tz" Looking forward to following this, should be a fun save

Before this video I started a build a nation save with fenerbahce in turkey. So obviously the advice about picking a small team doesn't apply for me. But do you think turkey is a good or even just possible destination, with all its rules? Thanks for the great advice here!

you can just sell any of the players you have aquirred out of country to some of your league's top half teams. and loan out your young international players to the lower table teams. as long you dont sell or loan outside of Turkey's top flight. it should be fine. when you pick a big team in general. scout the NXGN list EVERY SEASON and poach anyone you deem fit for squad usage or loan farming. i would also check u21, u20, etc national squads, especially when there is a u20 world cup or conintenential compeititions. i dont know how strict Turkey's visa rules so take into account of that. this is just my experence playing AFC Wimbeldon. for the entire time i was just trying to survive by scouting old veterans and under used players. i started to look for the future players once my club was solidiied being a top half team and we began to look for young international players that can get work visas. so thats when i began to poach NXGN listed players and the ussual U20 or U19 players. my best player was an american i poached from FC Dallas named Cho Jin-woong and he was in the under 21 national squads. got him to lift the PL and Champions league trophy. pretty much became a national hero in the world cup beating Brazil in the 2034 world cup quarter finals. the AI is really good setting up national squads so dont ignore it. scout them ASAP

Sweden has similar rules to Norway so it can definitely be done as the some of the top clubs can really perform in Europe. However be very careful with Sweden, there was a bug last year meant that deeper into saves. AI controlled Swedish clubs would sign too many foreign players and thus would be unable to field benches due to match-day rules. If they've fixed that for this year then it'll be fine, but i've yet to see evidence that they have :(

That's odd, sometimes the Staff Responsibilities > Transfers > Offer To Clubs, section can give you a clue as to why, this needs to match the settings you use in the dev list. It's really annoying that you have to set it all twice but that seems to help

I really don't like these type of saves as their just incredibly unrealistic. As a manager of a side, you don't want your domestic rivals to be strong and challenging you, as this provides more competition to winning the league.

Personally I just prefer to move to other clubs later in the save and try to compete with the monstrosity I've created, feels more realistic and satisfying this way.
