I heard or read that it's not good to wash microfiber with laundry washing power because the conditioner will damage the microfiber. I now day use dishwashing liquid & every now & then small flake of dishwasher tablet. Is it true about most laundry washing powder or gel contains conditioner?

@@shahidamoola6154 if you have hard water i your area, try shower spray.... Regularly the hard water calcium carbonate will eventually wash off! & use filtered rain water or condensed water collected from dryer as soft water for cleaning water on microfiber

As a window cleaner this is how I clean leaded windows. Customers always ask me how I get no streaks and are always amazed I just use plain water too clean with. You'll always get streaks with any cleaning product so save yourself money and save the environment by listening to this lady.

So glad to “hear” you say this. So many people are obsessed with making their own glass cleaner, when plain water is generally the best, especially on mirrors.
@CCFIFresno
@CCFIFresno 2 жыл бұрын
That is untrue in regards to getting streaks with cleaning products. Fact, glass actually has pours and when you don't get all the grease, grime, dust and dirt out of those pours, that is what creates the streaking you see. If you use a wet microfiber cloth with a few drop's of blue dawn to clean the glass/mirror and then dry it with a microfiber drying towel you've removed all of the gunk from those pours and liklihood of having streaks no matter what you put on it other than oil or furniture polish. If you want a "transparent clean" use a foaming glass cleaner, misting it very lightly and use a microfiber cloth made specifically for glass and spread to evaporation in the "S" pattern from top to bottom.

I am a retired owner of a window cleaning business (20 years experience). 90% of my customers were homeowners so I've cleaned a lot of mirrors. Frankly I always used an 18" squeegee to wipe off the water as it is much faster and leaves the mirror super clean. However, I did use her method to clean leaded glass and I think I will try it to clean the inside of my trucks windows.

My house cleaner retired so house cleaning is back to me. I found this program about cleaning mirrors (something I have never had success doing) and couldn't believe you could clean mirrors without chemicals. So this morning I got two microfiber cloths and followed your directions. I was amazed that it works!! I also watched the program about cleaning showers and decided to work on the glass doors. I am ashamed to say they were awful. I found a scrubber pad to us and used windex to use up my supply. Again I followed your directions right down to drying the glass. OMG!! The doors are beautiful. I keep going back and looking at the bathroom because it looks so great. And, a bonus is that I worked smarter rather than harder. Thanks so much for your advise to a little old lady.

@AskAngelaBrown

I'd say that "dusting and wiping windows" generally refers to cleaning the window surfaces and frames, but it doesn't usually include thorough window washing, which is cleaning the glass inside and out. I suggest making sure you and your client are on the same page about this so everyone's happy in the end👍

I'm so glad to hear you promote just plain water. I use just water for nearly everything, very few cleaning products. Only really stubborn or greasy stuff needs product or anything that needs sanitation. Large appliance surfaces generally only need water. Do you have a video on cleaning outside, really dirty windows and those unreachable from the ground? (You must live in a mansion with over 50 windows - nice!)

We typically don't encourage house cleaners to do windows for the fact that most don't travel in vehicles with a truck mount, ladders or have a vehicle that will carry 2 story extension wands and pressure washers. Instead we refer our window washing friends to our cleaning contacts, and they refer house cleaning to us. (No, I haven't done a video on it but one would be fun to watch.)

I was getting tired of the amount of paper towels I was using from both a landfill and financial standpoint. What a waste. Literally. So about 8 months ago I quit buying paper towels. I invested in microfiber towels and different e-clothes. I now use them exclusively for absolutely all my cleaning. With most of my cleaning now being done with just plain water, instead of chemicals. Considering how many paper towels I was going through, as well as various chemicals, both the microfiber towels and e-clothes have proven to be a good investment.

Another tip is to start at the top and wipe horizontally from side to side working your way downward. Your video had very good info. I would like to comment on your choice of wiping materials ie coffee filters, newspapers, paper towels etc. As I understand, your reluctance in using newspaper was due to the fact that they are more scarce now than in the past. If you have a source, that would not be an issue. I've used newspapers for window cleaning for many years and I've experienced no better wiping material. Just be sure to use the actual newspaper itself and not any glossy inserts. Newsprint ink actually has a small amount of abrasive added to it helping to polish glass.

Hey Angela, we’re window twins! We also have 55 windows. High 5!!! I was ready to give you my secret weapon for cleaning them, but you already knew it so I’ll just contribute to your algorithm instead. 😂 Discovered it during the paper towel shortage last year, but I’ve never heard of drying cloths. If anybody else said you only needed water to clean windows I’d have unsubscribed, but you’ve never steered me wrong so I’m gonna give it a go. ☺️ Those microfiber cloths are great for cleaning so many things! Kitchen appliances and countertops are so much easier to clean with those cloths too. Hope you have a great weekend!

Hey Audrey, High five for being my twin! I should clarify - cleaning glass, mirrors and windows is an inside job. You will need soap suds and a pressure washer if you're cleaning 55 windows and on the outside of your home. I didn't make that very clear. I'm sorry about that. Do you know how many cloths that would take if you just used damp cloths on outside windows? 😱😂😜

I First sprayed the cleaning spray onto the mirror then I used a Microfiber rag to quickly wipe it = The results were ok but not to satisfaction/ Then I used Sprayway again but this time I sprayed the Mirror and I used a squeegee to wipe away the cleaning spray = This time it was near perfect and much better. What did I do wrong there when I used the Microfiber rag? Would you say there is time to use a squeegee but also a time not to use a squeegee and why? Thanks! :)

@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
If you are removing nicotine from ceilings you may want to use terry cloths with the Krud Kutter. The Terry Cloths will wash out better in the washing machine than microfiber for this purpose. And you may have to do a couple of passes to remove streaking. Removing tar from ceilings and walls is a time consuming project to do it right.

I just have a question, I’ve been watching videos on cleaning glass shower doors using steel wool fine grit 0000 “ what’s your opinion? Your my ‘favorite cleaner ‘
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Steel wool fine grit 000 can be safe on some shower glass doors - but the key is to know what type of glass you are scrubbing, and the type of soil you are trying to remove. In most cases, the shower gunk is soap scum and that can be removed with a degreaser (think dish soap) and a non-scratch scrub sponge.

Your way works as well. Thanks for sharing. The reason we use this method is as professional house cleaners we do not carry dish soap water or beach towels with us. We don't clean windows so we don't carry squeegees and buckets of water. The tools we have available to us to clean an occasional item of class or a mirror are these cloths and this is the process for 99% of the cleaning we will do with glass and mirrors.

The glass cloths are a very unique cloth in that they are low pile with no fuzz. Here is a paid link to some we use. amzn.to/37j036S and if you hover over the picture you can see a close up view of the texture. And because they are microfiber they grab almost like a silicone oven mit where they don't want to glide across the mirror at all. Somehow it makes them the perfect choice for removing streaks on glass and mirrors. The regular microfiber cloths tend to just smear the water around. Does that make sense?

I had a mirror that had gotten some kind of oily residue on it. I tried to clean it with everything I could find, window cleaners, vinegar, microfiber towel, even a rubber squeegee, you name it, nothing would remove all the oil and it left the mirror with a sort of smeary haze on it. I finally tried cleaning it with a steam cleaner and BOOM! it worked instantly. Took me maybe 2 minutes total. So, when nothing else will do it, try steam, it is amazing!

Angela Brown A good friend has a building maintenance (Windows) business and gave me the tip. I wish I had exact measurements but I don’t, it’s a couple of smaller globs of dishwasher detergent ( doesn’t take much at all) to a gallon of water. Since there are no suds, there are no streaks. I have a black glass gas stove and it drove me insane till she gave me this tip. Now I use it on windows, mirrors, anything that would show streaks, cuts grease and grime like nothing else.

U are suppose to wash the different styles of microfibers separately?!? So the waffle weaves, separate then the window/glass ones? Also, how to clean with microfibers that u used polish or conditioners?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
You can wash the waffle weaves and the glass cloths in the same load, I would put them in mesh bags to separate them. They have these mesh bag kits (paid link amzn.to/3Cqldwb) with smaller mesh bags for one or two cloths that can be tossed in the same laundry load as your other cloths. The purpose of the mesh bags is that it prevents your expensive microfiber cloths from picking up lint from other laundry in the same load.

May I ask how to deal with streaks left by spray on glass cleaners? I cannot get the mirror clean in my rental from whatever has been used on it in the past. It leaves shiny streaks that kind of glow in the dark. I want to get rid of the chemicals, and just clean using vinegar and water. Obviously it is now full of chemical cleaner and doesn't want to come glistening clean.
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
To deal with streaks left by spray-on glass cleaners, there are a few things you can do. Firstly, use a microfiber cloth instead of paper towels or newspapers to clean the glass, as these cloths are designed to pick up dirt without leaving streaks. Secondly, use less cleaner as using too much can cause streaks. Thirdly, try switching to a different product that is designed to be streak-free. Finally, make sure to apply the cleaner correctly by spraying it onto the cloth, not directly onto the glass, and working in small sections. By following these tips, you can achieve a streak-free shine on your windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.

I like the idea of the cloths but I have found when doing exterior windows or extremely dusty or dirty glass you need a rag that’s used to get the heavy dirt off. That rag gets quite dirty fast so I carry a bucket of water to rinse it in and reuse. Or a cloth squeegee can be used. Then I can use the wetting rag method. Otherwise my wetting rag becomes caked with dirt too fast. With that said I’m talking about washing pretty dirty windows. Not mirrors!!

So wetting cloth + drying cloth … no indication of cleaning solution (agent). What do you use? Dish soap?
@AskAngelaBrown
@AskAngelaBrown 2 жыл бұрын
Water. No dish soap required. Damp cloth, followed by a glass cloth designed to remove streaks and dry. NOTE: As house cleaners the glass we clean in homes are table tops, mirrors and picture frames for the most part. We are not window cleaners by trade, so the windows we are cleaning are the transom around the front door and maybe a sliding glass door from the kitchen to the back patio where the dog pressed his nose against the glass. We're not talking outside windows or a whole house of them. Does that make sense?
@ericmcquisten
@ericmcquisten 2 жыл бұрын
@@AskAngelaBrown Yeah it makes sense. Most videos on glass/window cleaning recommend either a few drops of dish soap, or vinegar, or both. But only your video got into the detail of what cloth (applicator) is best for cleaning glass surfaces (including mirrors). I see some of the comments people recommended a squeegee in addition to a microfiber drying cloth (for glass).

My previous landlady works as a house cleaner and she swears by those Norwex silver-infused microfiber cloths as the wetting cloth, and the Norwex glass cloth to dry/polish glass and mirrors. I bought 2 pairs and used them to clean greasy hand prints from glass doors on a window cleaning job I was doing. Gotta say I'm impressed by this method. Be sure to wash the micro fiber towels correctly, heat is there enemy. Wash them separately from other clothes, use a good free and clear detergent, use warm water, air or tumble dry (no heat)! Also if the micros are very dirty your can add like a 1/4 cup of vinegar (in either the bleach/or softener slot) and be sure to do, if you can an extra rinse. Never use regular detergent, fabric softener to micros and again warmish ..stay away from heat. This is coming form an ex auto detailer ..care for your tools....and the enviro around us.
