I use my Itaki cooker for lunch... similar and I love it! The water in the bottom determines the cook time. It shuts off automatically when the water is gone.

Nice clear informative video, thanks. For the cookie and chocolate cake you could try a greaseproof paper top tied with string - this is how my Mum used to make steamed puddings.

Thank you for this clear explanation! I have encountered less efficient units which are very slow to heat up and could cause food hygiene concerns, but this one looks good. Cheaper units tend to produce direct heat rather than using this bain marie approach and they suggest their purpose is re-heating food rather than cooking it. If you were making a drink requiring hot water to go with your food, you could perhaps use near boiling water initially in the unit to speed up the cooking. Suddenly, I'm quite hungry ...

This is useful for emergency back up power. Soo many in Texas lost power for days and this isn't a one time event. There are many who every year have to prepare for hurricanes etc. The sun never ceases to rise again so easy to recharge! This is awesome for heating up a can of soup in an emergency, water for oatmeal, heck even heating up formula for a baby's bottle (OBVIOUSLY watching the time to not overheat)!!

A cheaper 200 to 300 watt rice cooker with 4 cups (cooked) capacity may be a lot better. There are even 12 volt DC cookers that can be adapted to be wired directly to solar panels.

Thank you so much! I was just looking for some way to produce a hot meal, or warm leftovers without using propane, shore power, wood fire or the solar oven for those times without sun, or a fire, like overnight boondocks in parking lots, a rainstorm or snowstorm. Recently we were in the ice storm in Texas, and no sun, power, or ways to set up a fire in the Kelly kettle, barbeque or a campfire. This fits the niche nicely, not too much drain on the solar battery, and can use the small solar generator instead of the beast. Also great to see the versatility of meals possible, but I am sold on the idea of heating up water and leftovers while getting ready to drive. Would love to see more recipes for this gadget! Liked and subbed 👍💙

As others have stated, this is a great idea for power outages. I have a wood stove for heat and can cook on that, but I don't really want to use it to cook during the summer. Something like this will be a great alternative with my solar generator.

Looks like that works in the same manner as a bottle/food warmer I took apart (150W). It uses a PTC heating element on a metal plate to heat the water in the small space below in the center. In addition to the PTC resistance limit, it has a thermal cutoff and a thermal fuse for safety. The technology has potential for other heating purposes

A hurricane is heading toward my father's house in Florida and we have been talking about power generators and cooking. He is over 80 and once people get older, safety is the most important. Plus, even though I have a Bluetti, if the power is out for a week (which we have had a few times) elecric blankets in the Winter, refrigerator or cooler to keep ice to use as ice packs in the Summer are necessary. This looks beautiful for a low-watt cooker. Safe and clean and will leave me watt hours for survival.

The roadpro 12v oven draws less, usually no more than 100 watts at a time, but takes longer. Will use about 160 watts when filled up.

Good for heating up meals while driving. Tried to cook w it - not enough wattage - but a small 300 watt rice cooker alao from Canadian Tire works well for omletes and rice with veg and lentils
@oddlytimbotwillison62963 жыл бұрын
@@karenlewkowitz5858 Well I've cooked with it hundreds of times from raw to fully done. It will fully cook cubed potatoes (my usual test). It fully cooks meats as well, and I've tested this with a thermometer for safety. I've also kinda-baked bread but it has that thickness same as using a slow-cooker. These are not re-heated foods. But a lot depends on how full it is, and what form the food is in. It needs to be filled up without a lot of air in it, and foods with a higher moisture content do better.

Great idea…I’ve been looking for fuel-based alternative to either warm up leftovers or at least cook eggs…being a Keto-ist and One-Meal-A-Day, would be nice to have more than cold (meat) leftovers - nice break from salads and sardines 😍 Currently, I pour small amount of boiling water into a large-mouth thermos bottle, put leftover meat in a plastic baggie and submerse it in the hot water; works pretty well for several hours. Sadly, your Starvier link to Amazon shows not currently available if I chose a similar item, would you still earn a commission because of the link?

Great reminder to buy a bigger inverter where possible, as even a VERY small rice cooker will draw 500W when cooking. It's easy to forget short-duration devices on a power budget!
@stewreviews93452 жыл бұрын
Interesting video. Certainly seems plausible but I would think that the instant pot mini would do all that and offer some extras too. I think lower power consumption overall too (higher power but for a much shorter time). There are tons of small power stations that will put out over 800 watts and pull in solar or car charging quickly now.

We use our induction cooktop with a Bluetti eb70 all the time, more versatile and faster heat. The duxtop induction cooktop does cook with adjustable power settings but we can plug in to our inverter in we need more power which is rare. On baking biscuits, cookies, and cakes, I wonder if putting plastic wrap over the top. That would seal it and keep the steam from reaching the items being baked. Of course, with the veggies, more steam is good.

I have a small 12V rice maker that you can do all kinds of meals and soups in it. I also own a 12V kettle 2 200 watts waffle and griddle maker. a perfect cooker that uses 250 watts, AC but cooks in no time (I bake bread/dessert in it too). I also sometimes cook while driving to save my battery juice for more demanding devices like my 12V fridge and fans. My 100a lipo battery and 1000 PSW inverter, 12/24V socket, with 150 solar panels attached to it have no problems cooking my one/two-person meals. This device might be useful too if it cooks a bit faster. The other lunch warmers take too long to warm and cook something light. I do not see myself cooking meat in one of those.

Wow, thank you for this video. I really was impressed but the link to the Stariver Electric Lunch Box doesn't work. It brings me to a completely different array of "lunch boxes". Not sure if anyone else is having this problem. Could you update the link? I am really considering investing in this electric lunch box. I bought a different brand lunch box and water never got to boiling temperature, even after 2 1/2 hours. This is a nice option but I would suggest the best way to cook for efficiency is using a low wattage induction cooker with a pressure cooker vessel. All the large institutions know that pressure cooking is the most efficient way to go. Coupled with a small induction module in the 300 to 500 watt range would be perfect.
