Your making your angle cuts way harder than need be. Just use a shot piece, tuck it up in the j channel or up to the drip edge over another piece lock in place and slid over under then mark off the top piece, easy ! Siding contractor here since 1972.

Your the man!. Thank you!. When you took that measurement from left to right. Did you run the tape measure uptight to the j or did you leave a little gap to find that 30 inch measurements.
@Lifes_Apprentice3 жыл бұрын
i measure it tight and just use the room within the lap to leave a gap

That’s one of several simple ways to do it. Most guys will take a piece set to the roof angle and mark it off on a short piece so you can make a pattern for cutting several pieces saves a lot of time cutting a few at a time
@Lifes_Apprentice Жыл бұрын
That works great too!

Doing a siding job on a 1955 house I am selling….what keeps the wind from blowing out that sharp corner in the angled j-channel? I had a 16” section of siding blow out on a similar location/angled j channel. Thanks
@Lifes_Apprentice Жыл бұрын
You need to make sure the piece is fully locked and at least double the length of the angle so you have some nailstrip. You can also silicone the laps on smaller pieces

Are you figuring the nail strip in on the angle?
@stonedrew28863 жыл бұрын
Why not measure up 9. 1/4 from where it snaps in to the jay channel the mark where that is down to where the angles ends

you can do that but this is accomplishing the same thing

Takes 2 pieces of siding and no tape at all for the angle. Your angle becomes a template.
