Thanks! Now I know how to keep my goal from falling over. Genius! Ironically, I heard you mention tornadoes. That’s 1 reason I was watching this video! We just lost our house & everything outside to the March/2020 F4 tornado in TN. Figured it couldn’t hurt to secure this new goal further than only using the base gel. Can’t wait til our house is rebuilt & I can take the goal home! Thanks again! 👌

Also to add we did a lot of reviews on how to fill the base. Sand we thought good but hard to move we weren't sure if we would be moving it at that time so no to sand. Water just doesn't hold good but you can empty it and move it. But what we use was BASE GEL we bought it at Big 5 Sporting Goods. This stuff works great you add the gel then water and it turns into a gel that is great and gives the same as 400 pounds of sand in the base but all you have to do is add sugar to reverse the effects and it turns back into water to empty and move base. BASE GEL it works great

if you are having trouble installing the ground anchor, just turn your hose into a slow drip and let it soak over the spots for a bit , then it will go right in . this is coming from a dry california lawn that i can barely get 2~3 rings to go down, try to get as much as you can first so it forms a small divot too

Thanks for the information, I will be doing this with my new portable hoop. One problem with home depot is they only carry the 8" or the 16" in my area. The 8" might not be secure enough in high winds and 16" would be too much effort to get flush to the ground in the rocky/clay soil here. Amazon sells a 10" landscape spike like the one in your video and for a few bucks less than home depots less secure 8" product.
@mikeagizzle6 жыл бұрын
Erick Grimmer how does the 10in work for you? I asked my lady to order me the 16in, however she made a mistake and ordered four 10inches instead! Debating should I return the 10in for the 16’s! I’m just anxious to play ball now. Your opinion is much appreciated.

Thanks, Dave, for posting this video. Screws and ratchet straps readily available online. One question: the previously referenced website that sells a hoop anchor kit--using less desirable thinner screws with shorter spirals--also includes a universal pole collar strap and a pole-to-anchor strap in order to lock the pole. Do you or any commenter think it would be worthwhile to improvise a set-up like this pole locking arrangement, and if so, how might you go about it? Thanks.

Get that block off of there right away. That compromises the integrity of the plastic. Don't put any weight on top. Also Sand weights a lot more than water so go with sand if you can. Did the same thing years ago with ratch - Get the anchor search for mobil homes.

Matthew Wilson i did not put anything in the base. The base will flex a bit. If it is really cold, it might crack if too tight, but since you are not adding anything to it , you don’t have to worry about it leaking out.

Can't you use your imagination, and figure it out? Do you drink too much? Take a lot of chemical drugs, like LSD, Coke, or other mind bending drugs? Are you brain dead? Do you just stand there with your hands in your pockets, and rub your crotch all day long? Your problem is simple to solve. Chisel a hole through the concrete, dig a hole 3 feet down into the dirt, shove the hoop pole into the ground, and refill the hole around the hoop pole with cement. OR have a yard sale, and sell the damn thing. Obviously someone has to tie the laces on your shoes, or you own a few pairs of slip on shoes, or flip flops.

Judging by the price point, it’s the one inch width version. Length wise should be plenty with what ever they provide since he had to trim it off. Search this on Walmart “RPS Outdoors Orange Ratchet Straps”, I think it’s Wut he had. Homedepot sells one under husky name for under 10 bucks , looks to be the same rating

Tried to find these anchors on the Home Depot site but couldn't. Do you remember the actual name of these? I tried screw in anchors/tiedowns, etc. Thanks.
Thanks, I found them on line by searching images; should arrive tomorrow. Hour study is your base if you don't fill it? Mine had e hidden crack near the wheels, and I'm tempted to put in a little diy cement, about a hundred pounds or so, to give it some weight. Still going to use the anchors, though. We get some mighty high winds in El Paso off the Franklin mountains. Your method looks pretty reliable. Thanks for posting.

If you use water, can freeze in winter and expand and crack the base. S'pose to use some antifreeze in there. Had FOUR 50# sand bags on the base, which is also filled with water/antifreeze. It still fell over last night from a windy storm. Guess I need to do this in addition to all the bags. Hope these straps hold up through winters, probably need to swap from time to time.
@erickgrimmer45446 жыл бұрын
The lifetime brand hoop I have said there is no need for the antifreeze. The plastic they use is designed to expand when the water freezes.
