safe to say that i've neglected about 'lordly' buffed armour, so keep that in mind, those are all purchasable but lordly ones that can be randomly dropped after big battles can be slightly superior

Actually much more superior and it makes equipment more interesting. You can find weaker initially armor/ weapons with better qualities, so you never know what piece you will find and what will be the best item in your playthrough personally.

Large Round Shield are great if you play a character that is super short because they cover your entire body. add a modifier to it and they can get a ton of hitpoints mine has 610

This is a great in depth video, thankyou for doing so much research into the weapons and armours. Just as a side note, In my latest playthrough I've managed to get my hands on several 30 armour boots and 30 armour hands, when I get home from work I'll edit the post for the items name.

@@TotalWarKS Can't craft armour. They will be looted or bought items with the "Lordly" modifier. Each item has a % chance to drop with a positive or negative modifier that effects the stats.

@@TotalWarKS Hey sorry back home now, as @Gwibbles mentioned, you can't craft armour (that I'm aware of, I dont really do mods). I have the Lordly Splint Boots (weight 2.7 armour tier 3 leg armour 30) and Lordly Bronze Bracers (weight 1.3 armour tier 3 armour 30)

@@websta1144 thats interesting i didnt know about the lord modifier, how does that work? is it just random luck that they will be at a shop or from loot?

@@TotalWarKS so from my experience with it you have two ways of obtaining loot with the lordly modifier. 1) high roguery stat with BIG army battles. Roguery increases the amount of loot, not the chances of high quality. But with more roles on the loot table the chances of rolling lordly modifiers is naturally more likely to occur and 2) VERY high prosperity towns with a smithy. I bought 2 pieces from Epicrotea around the 6200 prosperity mark. The daily tick will give it a chance of spawning i think. I haven’t done any testing with spawn rates it’s just something I noticed with the work shop generating weapons and armour.

A friendly tip: You missed the plated warlord helmet from sturgians at 53 armor and for shoulders there is fine decorated leather harness with padding shoulder piece at 17b 14a

You're sleeping on the falx. It doesn't really fit into you categories since it is a hand and half sword, but even as a dedicated 1 hander, it has better stats than the 1 handed swords you highlighted. The only "drawback" is that it doesn't have a thrust attack. Assuming you have high level control, you may want to use the thrust in close quarters sometimes. But mostly I just accidentally thrust when I want to swing, so not having a thrust attack is actually an upgrade. And you can also use it as a two hander if you want to (damage is a little lower than the two handers you show here, but it is faster and with better handling). And it does bonus damage to shields. It's like the game designers thought that they needed to compensate for taking away the thrust attack, and make it better.

For me thrust attacks don’t work in close quarters and always getting stuck. But works much better when someone comes at you, swings, you slightly go back out of range and forward, sheeshkebabing enemy just on the edge of range, getting also some bonus damage from speed. On long swords it’s quite useful. Not so much with spears because enemy comes closer until it starts swinging in their range, and spear Is much longer.

I’ve found a cape that was better than the shoulder piece shown but I think it was after a battle grabbing the loot

Closed Decorated Goggled Helmet is the same armor rating, looks more aesthetically pleasing (in my opinion) and is cheaper as well

I have a huge problem with saying "here is the best weapon available for this type" except for bows and crossbows. When it comes to melee and throwing, the "best" is most of the time a crafted weapon by a legendary smith tailored to your playstyle. But I recognize it can be a pain to level and unlock all parts needed, so when it comes to buying or looting, your list isn't bad, I would have added the falx, due to the bonus against shields, it's very good against those pesky shield walls. When it comes to armor, better going with the appearance first, stats are kinda secondary as you should never risk your character going uncouncious in a battle, I have lost way too many battles that should have been a landslide due to the idiotic ai "orders" after my character was downed ... Your shield choice isn't bad either, but I would add the pavise shield if you play with a crossbow, due to its interaction with the pavise skill, just turn your back towards the enemy's archers when you reload, and it'll intercept a lot of arrows/bolts aimed at you. It's also a must in offensive sieges if you go to the wall to support your assaulting troops from close range. ( I know, this last statement kinda contradict the whole armor point, but it depends on how you position yourself )

Best armor with top athletics allows you to fight in first lines and have like 1/5 or more kills of your soldiers combined, maybe more depends of numbers and situation. The definition of risk shifts because with over a 200 hp and a lot of armor you can afford mistakes. In very bad situations and if I’m on foot, I just put my shield on the back and run, happens often in big thousand plus battles when I didn’t realise where reinforcements came from.

Gear will always depend on the combat aproach you'll have. If you or your captain are/is a mounted archer, you don't want his/her horse geared with heavy armour (just to give an example). In mision were you plan a prisionero scape is always better to use short swords. And so on....

Hey was wondering if you could do a rbm version? Seeing as the armor is much more important since it makes armor types and coverage matter. Mixing those up with an aesthetic value would be good grounds for a video and there isnt much about it online rn.

I have a little suggestion, so I've been looking for Total War (mostly three kingdoms but others too) battle videos on KZbin and I can't find much of them, I've only seen individual ones you've made and they're very fun to watch, so could you maybe try making some videos in the style of explaining and showing how battle should be fought example-wise?

Apparently there a better chest plate than all of those options that you can get for free, but you have to marry someone to get it (Debana) then once you’ve married her take the armour.

In my first playthrough I've found these better capes: 15-20 = lordly heavy lamellar pauldrons 10-15 = fine legionary reinforced studded harness 14-19 = lordly legionary reinforced studded harness ...and these better boots: 30 = fine scaled boots 28 = lordly decorated plate boots

Throwing Axes are great for busting shields if you don't plan on going for the impale perk.

There is quality of the armor. If the armor is Lordly it will have higher stats

Its not the best armour in the game, e.g we have good quality helmet catafrakt with 55 armour, and hand armour for King with 31 armour or boots for King with armour 30

There are some shields who have 620 hitpoints Edit: The one i found is a heavy round shield (nobel) and has 630 hp. And its only Tier 4.
