Hi. What would you recommend please as the best web cam for MS teams, Zoom, Webinars etc. I just bought a new Macbook pro M2 (2023 version) The camera is 1080p but still a bit off. I'm in the UK and ideally not wanting to spend a lot! The Brio 4K is still around £250, Elgato Facecame £140 and Brio 500 £80. But im trying to pick between those. Great video btw! Thanks 😊
@DeployJeremy Жыл бұрын
Of those, I'd go with the Elgato (note that it doesn't have a microphone). The Brio 500 is also a great value, but I think it's comparable to the Macbook Pro's 1080p Webcam if your laptop is on a riser. The other thing I'd try before you purchase either is the iPhone using continuity camera. It's presumptuous of me to think you have an iPhone as a Mac owner 🙂, but assuming you do, you should try it. iPhone X and newer rear camera is really good.
@criostiona Жыл бұрын
@DeployJeremy Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I've been toying with the Elgato. The pro is still double the price of the facecam at the moment and for my needs, I think the first version would do. Though I'm a bit worried about its size on my macbook Pro monitor, which was why I was swaying to brio 4k that I can get at half the price. The camera on the pro isn't too bad but still not the sharpest for meetings. I've actually just switched from Windows to Apple for the first time ever, so no iPhone yet! But it could be in the pipeline!
@DeployJeremy Жыл бұрын
@@criostiona The Brio 4k is great choice for 4k and 1080p 60. With the most recent firmware update, I finally was able to dial it in. It's image quality (clarity, focus, sharpness) was always good.

This was exactly what I call a neutral recommendation video, but... I need multiple cameras for recording the desktop from multiple angles and test-equipment sitting in front. Could you check these cameras also for being able to focus on objects instead of just tracking faces? In addition, it would be interesting to know how easy they can be integrated into OBS and Stream Deck remote control functions. Like controlling zoom (and pan / tilt / focus if available) with a stream deck plus or such? G-Hub probably lets you select only one camera at a time, so you have to click a lot until you can zoom on something. That is as annoying as having to stand up and re-arrange settings on a normal camera...
@DeployJeremy5 ай бұрын
There are a few cameras that allow you to save UVC control settings profiles, but not many. The PTZ cameras almost always have at least three programmable locations and the OBSBOT cameras have integration with Streamdeck to switch between them. Since focus is usually contrast-based (not like AF in good mirrorless cameras), that's what I would do for your scenario.

Are there any decent 3-in-1 webcams out there? Meaning, webcam, microphone AND speaker? I'm more concerned with simplifying my setup than sheer quality (tho I'd like it not to be junk :D)
@DeployJeremy Жыл бұрын
Nothing really has a speaker integrated. Realistically, using your mobile phone (assuming flagship Android or recent iPhone) gets you there, or if you have a laptop with a really good 1080p bezel camera (there are some) and onboard microphones, you can get by. You still need to pay attention to lighting and be relatively close to your phone/laptop ideally without a wall right behind it or echoey room to sound good. The new flagship Lenovos and MacBooks do a pretty good job in both audio and video, but you'd need to bring a (folding) laptop stand and mouse plus potentially keyboard (because you can't easily type on a laptop that's 6" or 15cm above desk height).

@@johnb5739 until about a month ago, I preferred the Brio 500, despite its lower resolution. That said, after the recent Brio 4k firmware update, I'm finally getting the right color balance from the 4k model. The 500 vs. 501 I believe is a retail vs. business packaging. Business packaging tends to use more brown recyclable cardboard. From what I can tell, both can be tuned using Logi Tune. I believe Logitech G Hub only works with the retail units. It's the built in driver though. Do you have enough USB bandwidth on its port and bus, any in line video effects like Snap AR installed? I don't see the UVC driver fail often, just stops if my USB traffic is too high. Usually that is due for me to having either too much video traffic out (2 USB-C monitors in my case) or too much traffic inbound (2 cameras).

@@adiands850 Both will need some type of lighting. Elgato doesn't publish sensor size (some sources say 1/1.8"), but I suspect it's bigger than the 1/2.8" sensor in the Meet. If your desk is against a wall and not height adjustable, I would do a wall mount like this one amzn.to/4dn0itJ, if it is height adjustable or you don't want to drill into your wall, then a camera desk mount stand like this amzn.to/3SrIFkD. I'm using the latter two items now for my Sony cameras. I wouldn't trust a monitor style mount, because it will be too shaky. I've tried.

Could you give your opinion on which gimbal offers better movement control? Basically smooth vs slow and if fast how fast while accurate.
