I remember hitting a 1:19 400m split during an 800m relay race, and it wasn't that difficult. But I still can't break 6 minutes. YET!

Thanks! I would recommend atleast 1 speed workout a week, so these could be used by rotating one each week. Or you could do 2 workouts a week if you are training 6-7 days. Bare minimum: do 1 speed work session, 1 long run, and the rest easy.

I only have time to do 4x 400m runs, will that also work if im consistent enough?

It’ll still help get you there so go for it! I’d say if that’s all you have time for, keep the recoveries short and speed high. Or, ditch the cool down and add 2 more 400s in that time instead

when i could hit those suggested workout paces, i could run a 5:30 mile! these are not realistic paces for someone who has a goal of a 6:00 mile.
