That easy and tempo pace seem a bit fast. I ran a sub 17 5k and my tempo is only around 6:00, Maybe the tempo should be around 6:15 and easy should be from 7:30-8:30.
@CoachJasonatRunningSecrets5 күн бұрын
Easy is really any pace that’s conversational so in hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have given it a range. 6-6:15 is a pretty solid range for tempo. Everyone is a bit different: an 800m runner moving up to 5k will likely have different strengths than a marathoner moving down to a 5k.

I am actually training for sub 1 hour 45 min half marathon and the pace and training looks very similar just distance is long. I do my interval training with 1 min fast at 4:00-4:30 min/km and 1 min cool down between 5:30-6:30 min/km doing total of 10 round of each. Easy runs (I set heart rate as a parameter using my smart watch) I do 15km at 5:35 min/km pace keeping heart rate between 124-156. Threshold I do at 5:05-5:15 min/km Long runs on Sunday.

So in April I hope to do first half marathon. Im running 5k most weeks so in last 6 months I ran about 20 parkruns. I'm at 26 mins for 5k. I ran a 10k In 57 mins. I run 3 or 4 times a week and I hope to do a long run 16k to 18k on Sundays. Anything else I need to do.

12 to 18 weeks of 40 miles per week. Imagine doing 100-110 miles per week for that long and still only having a PR of 4:49 after 15 marathons. Guess it's just a crappy hand.

Between both of those distances, and depending how many runs per week you’re doing, 5k to 13k is probably good for midweek runs. Build up to 15k+ as a long run

I've started I guess "serious" running again. I was able to run 1/2 at 2.00.12 so that last 6km where easy 5.20 min pace. I was able to run 10k in 39.45 min, 1/2 in 1h 34min and a 1/1 in 3h 29min when I was 20. But now I'm 53y old, so I have no idea what would be a realistic goal in my age, running around 25km a week. Greetings from Finland.

Did 3:42 in oslo ( hilly )21. september. Do you think 3:30 in frankfurt (flat )27. oktober is the correct goal?
@CoachJasonatRunningSecretsАй бұрын
Nice! Quite possibly. Depends how your build-up has been. I think if you could do a 3:42 on hilly terrain and feel relatively good, you could probably go 3:37 or faster on a flat course.

Hi thank you for the video. In terms of progression for tempo runs. Let’s say a pace of 8:25 during a 20 minute tempo run becomes “easy”. Is it better to decrease pace time to 8:15 for 20 minutes or keep the 8:25 pace and increase the duration of the tempo run to 30 minutes? Thanks
@CoachJasonatRunningSecretsАй бұрын
Good question! For the 10k, I would focus on increasing time first, then increase speed. Like you said, if 20 minutes at the goal pace feels easy, add some more time to it at the end, ie) 25 minutes or 30 minutes. For the 10k distance, that's probably sufficient time to tempo. Any other distance, I would say keep the pace the same and just keep adding time. Thanks for watching!

Hello great video. I just got back into running after having been off for 2 years due to Hip issues. Not 100% but working on it. I am actually shooting for a Sub 3Hr at the 2025 Berlin Marathon, but at my age 56 and with my hip issue, it seems like that might be out of reach. So, I am shooting for another sub 3:30 with a year to train. I have run 7 Marathons since 2011 in which I finished (3:27:46) no plan I just ran and ran. My PR Came at the 2018 Illinois Marathon in Champaine IL. (3:22:32) again no training plan. That run Qualified me for the 2019 Boston (4:15:02) and 2019 Chicago (3:30:28) Marathons. I have never used a training plan I just ran. I am hoping with a plan it will help get me back to being able to Run a Marathon. Did a 5K this month at 7:43 mi/min pace. How will I know when to Start a training Plan 12 Weeks or 18 weeks out?
@qigong10012 ай бұрын
You really need to address the kidney stones. Marathon runners get them more frequently due to electrolyte imbalances, kidney issues, leaching calcium due to acidic blood. I know you already know this. Maybe even parathyroid issues. Get it tested. Wouldn’t hurt to consult with medical specialists that deal with extreme athletics. Do this before you damage your kidneys. Even if it’s a familial pattern, you need to find a way to manage this.

Sounds like you were pretty dehydrated and maybe under fueled. If you always have to stop to pee you need a lot more sodium to retain the water instead of passing it. Also how many carbs per hour did you take in?
@CoachJasonatRunningSecrets2 ай бұрын
Oh for sure, definitely dehydrated. That was my first issue. Historically I have taken caffeine when I run, which acts like a diuretic, but I’ve cut back on that. Carbs per hour is around 45-50 depending how I’m feeling.
