Re: the gyudon, keep in mind that most microwaves in Japan (and possibly other Asian countries) are 600-700 watts max power, while most US ovens are 1000-1200 watts. 4.5 minutes at 700 W makes sense.

I know I love my local international markets, especially one by my local Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. I always eat local and shop local to help support other cultures businesses. We have at least 4 international markets and I always encourage people to go to them and try new things they normally don't try. Please do your part and help local shop owners and restaurant owners keep their business afloat. We are lucky other cultures even want to share their food and business with us or we wouldn't have authentic food or treats to explore and we wouldn't of been able to learn more about other cultures and their traditions.

But we started with what we could, some local snacks, and some asian snacks that we could find. We will try to get into it more and see how we can make it about food more.

I know the feeling. Here in the UK major cities tend to have at least one Asian supermarket but most towns don't, but even if you do find one they are not a patch on the US ones. My nearest large town had one until a couple of years ago and it closed down :(

We used to live in Burien and went to an Asian grocery called Wayne's a few times a week. It's small, but has lots of authentic items and very reasonably priced produce and seafood. There are also some very good Asian markets up in White Center. Burien is a small town next to Seatac Airport. Worth a visit, it has a nice downtown area with many local restaurants.

I decided to try cooking a scallion pancake in my air fryer and omg I love it so much more now. I mean don't get me wrong, the regular way to cook it is amazing but it's always been slightly oily to me because it really soaks that oil up. Hey Mikey! I love the supermarket videos. The Gyudon looks good. Have you been to the Great Wall Mall in Kent? I'd be interested to see how you like all the different Chinese stores on the inside. I haven't been since Covid happened so I'm hoping they are all there. The should be at least a Chinese herb shop, a video store and a 99 Ranch grocery among a few other restaurants and other small shops. Very unique for the area! Just going in looks cool and I loved walking around and checking things out. Love your videos man, it's really cool that you're in the Seattle area. I recently found out how many of my favorite youtubers are really close by! Take care!

Omgoodness...you just gave me the best idea! Where I live there are absolutely ZERO Asian food markets. (Because I live in bumcrap Pennsylvania). Anyway, I love making homemade Ramen and I can NEVER find (good) meat that is sliced thin enough to cook when the broth is poured over it...and 99% of the time the only protein I end up with is an egg. Love watching your videos, I want to try everything you recommend. Sadly my stomach has turned into my worst enemy with these past few years. The simplest of foods can and will cause me nausea and I find it very hard to eat anything that I can stomach without wanting to vomit half way through my meal. Even some smells make me gag. I hate it cause I used to love trying new foods and weird foods. I'm gonna get studies done to see what I can do to fix it but my meals now mostly consist of baked potatoes, sometimes a bit of cereal in the morning and apples with some other limited fruit and veggies. Seeing your videos makes me happy and excited about food even though I can't enjoy it like I use to. Keep up the awesome job!!!

I'm not trying to diagnose you, but the symptoms sound similar to ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder). I hope you're able to figure out what's troubling you!
