One of my best purchases is actually my Red LV Cluny MM. As a woman of color, I wear a ton of red lipstick with my mostly neutral wardrobe. Red just goes so well with white, navy, khaki, black and grey.

I'm not a red person, but I am a navy person and if you wear a lot of navy, red accessories are the best. I bought these patent leather red ballet flats from JCrew years ago and I wore them into the ground. They jazz up a boring outfit without actually having to wear a lot of color. While I would not buy the LV bag, cause I don't have that kind of money to waste, I do think red accessories can be worn by people who don't typically wear red.

I love suede, but boy it does not wear well. Whether they are $700 shoes or $70 shoes suede just doesn't wear. I bought an expensive pair of suede booties in the fall and they are already starting to look worn. I think the lesson here is it's ok to buy suede, just not high end suede.

Perhaps the key is to buying vibrant colours in classic styles- like a double flap, marmont etc- so you know that you love the shape and it’s utility but are having fun with the colour.

Absolutely crazy the “bag psychology”. The bad purchases teach us so much. I’ve also realised that trying to add colours (especially red) cause you “need it” will not work out. If one loves only black bags: go girl. I’m not a red person either...unless I find a cool red double flap with silver hardware... Oh crap, why are there so many options? Loved the video 😘😘❤️❤️

Poor little red bag....please just start using!! It is really stunning. I think good advice for when trying out different/bolder colours etc would be to just go for a cheaper bag - it doesn't need to be a high end luxury one.

I love how practical you are with the luxury items you purchase. I’m 23 and starting to build a luxury collection. My thin Gucci belt was my first purchase. I love how it’s simple but still makes a little statement. I was nervous about buying it because i wasn’t sure how much use i would get out of it. But i love it and have worn it quite a bit! Wow, your hair is a lot darker. It looks very pretty. I absolutely LOVE that you encourage cleaning out the closet. I am such a collector and we have such a small place. Now, don't toss those great colored items. These are SEASONAL! Not poor choices, both the red and the orange will come around again on the guitar - in the summer. You may find a cute pair of red sandals that in summer or spring just complete you. The other thing is the purple is more calming. Now, boxy verses other types of bags, yes, look at that. I need to get a pair of nude winkle pickers like yours. One of the things that I know for myself is my bag has to have a flap over, just as all the bags you have shown in this video. Hi Shea. I've learned that I'm not a pop of color person, period, and it doesn't matter what the color is -- red, orange, blue, whatever. Like you, I appreciate how beautiful colorful accessories are. And I admit freely that pop of color accessories can look very good with my neutral wardrobe. But I don't enjoy wearing them. For me, it's all about black, beige, navy, and maybe the occasional blush. Fortunately, I learned this lesson much less expensively with MIchael Kors and Kate Spade, not with Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

Hey! Suede is a very sensitive material, you must waterproof them before you wear them to make sure you don’t ruin them, water doesn’t mark them, stain or whatever. Hope that help 😘

If you haven't worn them that much than those Louboutins just look like poor quality. I don't spend a ton of money on stilettos because I find that unless you live a real lux life, they're prone to more wear and tear. The heels get stuck in the spaces between pavement and the pointy toes hit things, with that said it still usually takes about 5 months of regular wear to work use for me see the type of damage on those shoes. What kind of low quality suede did they use?

Stilettos only work if you are only walking a little, will be doing a lot of sitting and will be driven/driving there and from. So out to dinner or watch the ballet. Biggest mistake, stilettos at a wedding. What a mess! It had all the worst aspects. Dancing, standing for long periods and lot's of walking. And that was skipping the massive car parking walk by being dropped off at the door. You don't have to necessarily have a lux life to wear stilettos, but you have to be very selective about what events you wear them to.

Louboutains are the most uncomfortable shoes ever.....I have black patent leather ones, wore them maybe three times at most. I bought red soles from Louboutain and had them fitted before I wore them. Those suede ones look really swanky.

I know exactly what you mean by “fulfilling a need”. I think that’s exactly how my brain works too. With me it has something to do with my perfectionism in combination with an underlying urge to create collections of the things I love and that I’m interested in. The way you describe it is exactly what happens to me all the time with all sorts of things. Like when I got interested in wine or different styles of artisan tea or even fragrances... I tend to want to complete my collections with things that are still missing even if I don’t really even like them.

Speedy b DE has been my absolute favorite purchase! It has held up through the snow, rain and everything else! The WORST 6 key cles just because it cracked and the interior was trashed about 6 months. It was defiantly a heartbreak to let it go.

Thanks for sharing this info with us. I agree with so much of what you said. I have a suggestion for people who do want to expand or diversify their collections. Before buying a luxe product, try a less expensive item to see if you reach for it. I found this especially helpful with getting a red bag. It taught me that I would not reach for a red bag or at least not reach for it nearly enough to spend the cost of luxury. If you find the inexpensive option works, then buying it in a luxury product will work even better.

I think it is so true that you have to go with what makes you happy when you see and use something. Too bad about the suede Louboutins. I find that if I spray them regularly with suede protector, it helps preserve the color from fading. Fun and informative video as always!

I actually reach for my colorful bags much more than my classics! I felt like, when I was first collecting, I needed to add staples. However, as time went on, I was gravitating toward the patterned, limited edition, unusual designs and totally ignoring my Speedy, Neverfull, etc. I agree that you don't have to get something that isn't you just because you feel you should have that option in your collection. I completely agree with all of this! I would recommend keeping the red bag and selling the WOC. You might down the line figure out more ways to wear the red bag and regret getting rid of it but if you aren’t a WOC person now you never will be. I think I purchased the pigalle folles and they were deathhhh for me lol :( returned them right away. But what you should also know is I’m still warming up to heels in general because my feet are more wide I’d say! Hey Shea! The Hermès orange is such a cool color. Maybe try it with a white tee and jeans- something really neutral. I think the orange shade would look good with LV monogram or DE. You make everything look good. And the Pasadena is so chic- a red bag always elevates an outfit. I’m with you on WOC- gorgeous but they don’t work for my lifestyle. I have mini bags for evenings out. The red bag is too blue-based and cool-toned for your skin! You look more like a soft autumn, which is why the aubergine velvet gucci bag suited you more. I think you would also look great in earth tones, burnt red, khaki, dusty rose, etc. You also seem a lot like a natural body type with blunt edges shown in your hands and chin. You'll carry slouchy styles better over structured styles. The orange hermes belt would suit winter girls more, who'll pull off the contrasted colour. Autumn looks good in soft and muted colours! Also your hair suits you a lot because the volume and undone style matches your body type :)

Loved this video not only for your recommendations, but it really shows you have to go with your gut when making purchases. I'm trying to be more mindful about things I buy and you were absolutely right about getting something because you love it, not because you need to 'round out your wardrobe'. And not buying something because it reminds you of something else! I put that into action on my last shoe purchase, thinking "they're too expensive... I'll get one (or two or three) dupes while still wishing i had the designer version" Such a good decision not to do that because you usually end up getting what you really wanted all along, but wasted money on nonsense in the meantime.

I love that red bag so hard, and I hate red. It inspired me to get a red bag (sadly not that one, LOL) and I have to tell you that I love it. I don't carry it often, because I am not a red person at all, and I do have to work at the styling. I pretty much only carry it when I am dressing up a jeans and white T, but I have found that a touch of leopard somewhere is what makes it sing. Black moto jacket, white T and jeans and leopard scarf is my favorite combo for it, but white T, jeans and leopard flats work well with a red bag for me, too. Your style is more neutral and classic, so you might not like leopard, but I can't pull off the neutral thing very well, I need a little edge! If I had the money I'd buy a red Pasadena in a heartbeat! But I think you need to keep yours; you'll eventually find a few looks that work for you, and you'll love the sass.

Great vid, as always!! My best luxury purchase (in terms of getting the most use out of it) is my LV Speedy 25 B in Damier Ebene. It’s so easy to wear! Style wise I love my Pochette Metis more, but the Speedy is just so care free and I don’t stress about rain, snow, people spilling drinks on me at the bar, etc. Lol. I even carried it two days ago at the Eagles Super Bowl Parade in Philly knowing full well that there’d be millions of partying people around me. And I wasn’t even stressed about it. Haha.

My best luxury purchases are my first LV bag (Delightful MM DE), my B.zero 1 silver gold ring (which I wear with the beautiful diamond ring my Dad gave my late Mom for their 25th anniversary), the LV Leopard scarf by Stephen Sprouse, Tote Large Bag in patent leather from YSL, black Gucci Soho Disco (next purchase will be the red one), first SLG I got TODAY from mail (Mini Pochette in Monogram) and most likely the Pochette Metis Monogram I bought one week ago after a stroke of luck when I found online the ONLY one available in Brazil. I'm still waiting for her ;) Regarding the worst purchases, definitely the Ashby Medium bag from Burberry and the LV Monogram Shine Shawl in black I ordered from a girlfriend who lives in Brussels. I should have chosen the LV Monogram Denim in black instead... Much love from Brazil!

Heyyyy, I don’t know if you read these! But I would LOVE to see a video of wardrobe essentials!! I’m trying to cut down on my clothes and have more practical good quality pieces of clothing, that are also versatile (I hope this makes sense) like clothing staples that can mix and match!! And not necessarily luxury pieces!!! Love your videos and your style!! I’m a newly stay at home mom with an 18month old and really want to look good and not like a “stay at home mom” haha

I have a lot of red bags, so I guess I am a red person. The thing is, I do not wear any jewelry (I barely have any) or have beautiful bold makeups, because I can’t pull off the look. I go with nudes mostly. In the end, the bag ends up as the sole accented accessory in my ensemble. So I like that your advice is to think about what kind of person you are rather than say “do not buy it at all” (which is a common advice from other youtubers). Cheers! 🥂

Shea, I’m so happy you included the Chanel wallet. I have the same combo and I actually listed mine for sale on an app called mercari. It ended up selling and while I was packing it I instantly felt as Sellers remorse! I was so sad to see it go. So I’m about to ship the item and I noticed the address was very odd. It was a post office address with no P.O. box. I spoke to the buyer and she said she worked at the post office and she would receive it. It made me feel uneasy so I just cancelled the transaction I took it as a sign that I wasn’t meant to sell. I’m so happy I still have it in my collection. I do use it everyday and want to add another card holder to my collection so I don’t ruin this one. Just not sure which one lol

HI Shea, The red is a vibrant color but I don't like it as much either. However, there are shades of red in hand bags that elevate an outfit. I had a Furla tote that was red. nterestingly, I like totes in color than black. I have used that bag all the time and it elevated my outfits. It was a darker shade of red. Also, your Gucci purple, although it is not in neutral color, it blends in well with many colors. And it is stunning with that gold hardware. I am not sure if the LV red is as complimenting as your Gucci purple. They both are beautiful but the shade of LV is kind of "into your face", which may be hard to match. Great video. xoxo Marjan
