The cleansing oil by FANCL (a Japanese brand) is soooo good! It has become a staple in my routine and it's actually the only staple because I change between different products pretty frequently but that is just holy grail good so I have to keep it. It's a bit pricy tho, and only last for 6 months once opened because it doesn't have any preservatives. I know this is not really relevant to the video but I just have to recommend it. So GOOD. Btw My skin type is oily combination and I wear fundation and mascara on a daily basis.

I was soo happy to see you talk about the simple oil because it’s the one I use and have never heard anyone talk about it! What you said about it dragging I do agree with, but I have no issue with just using more than the 2-3 drops it recommends. When you think about other oil cleansers with a bump, using around 10 drops of this oil does end up being a similar amount. And I can confirm it’s great for dissolving heavy makeup! But I always make sure to follow up with a gentle cleanser as I always do when oil cleansing

Dr. Dray, I have been watching your videos (obsessively lol) for the past 2 days and you have very quickly become my fav. youtuber! I love that you actually break down the ingredients and educate on HOW and WHY products work, it's so helpful. I have a question for you - I have been seeing around that some people apply a layer of vaseline on their face over all of their nighttime products to "seal" everything in... is this something you would suggest doing? I'm skeptical & I'd love to hear your take on it.

In my experience, if oils and oil cleansers don't contain emulsifiers, adding water to the early stages of the process only increases friction, basically making it less slippery, making it feel like you are rubbing your face more aggressively.

Sometimes to do a deep cleanse, I apply the BHA liquid from Cosrx on my skin, leave it on for 30 minutes and then massage my skin with the Hada Labo cleansing oil, and honestly, I can feel the blackheads coming out of my pores like little grits on my hands while I massage my face, then I rinse my face and my blackheads are gone, at least those stubborn ones around my nose, forehead and chin! Now I’m using the BCL Cleansing Research AHA Cleansing Oil, it’s not as good as the Hada Labo one, but still it removes blackheads pretty well and it’s free from mineral oil ❤️

Dr. Dray, thank you for mentioning the strong fragrance in one of the products you reviewed. I purchased some Asian serums and had the same issue. The fragrance was so strong I was unable to continue using the product. Hopefully as the popularity of Asian products increases, they might shed the strong fragrances. I was gifted with rosacea, atopic dermatitis (AD), and melasma in my middle age and have been interested in trying oils since they might be gentler for removing sunscreen and make up with my conditions, but have been apprehensive until watching this video. With my AD, I run the risk of a miserable, lengthy inflammatory response episode with any new product I try. This video gave me the courage! Thank you. I have learned a tremendous amount of helpful information from watching your channel.

How do you know if it breaks down the sunscreen? I just assumed it comes off after the water, since sunscreen bottles tell you to reapply after being in the water and using a towel.

The Face Shop Rice Water Oil completely dried out my skin especially my delicate under eye area. It also stung my eyes. As soon as I got rid of it, I saw the difference in my skin. I switched to the Simple oil and it was hydrating didn’t dry out my skin. Now I’m using your recommendations and I’m extremely happy - muchas gracias 😊

CosDNA website rates comedogenic and irritating products from zero to five (the lower the better). In this case, The Face Shop rice water's first ingredient is Isopropyl Myristate, which is rated 5 in the "Acne" column.

I wear no make up however use your double cleanse method to remove my sunscreen. I will be starting your double cleanse method soon and scared about trying mineral oil. Do you believe using a miceller water particularly bioderm would work as well as mineral oil at the effectiveness of removing sunscreen and is one much better at a lower risk for acne prone skin?

Thank you so much for this video! I had all but given up finding a cleansing oil that was fragrance free and wouldn't irritate my skin. I have tried just about every Japanese, Korean and American cleansing oils without success over time. I love the Hada Labo and the Simple cleansing oils that you recommended. Since my skin is very dry and sensitive, I can skip the second cleanse if I want to. All of my makeup, mascara, foundation and sunscreen come off easily without irritation. I did try the second cleanse with both the Neutrogena Ulta Gentle Creamy Cleanser as well as with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser with great success and no irritation or dryness. I am thrilled that I now have these options cleanse in addition to Pond's Cold Cream. Any chance that you will do a video for a dry skin morning and evening routines? Those of us with dry skin are forever grateful for your suggestions! :)
@eshita7080

Mediterranean Maven i think you should not skip the second cleanse because even though you have dry skin, the oil is full of dirt and makeup. water alone cannot remove the oil so then it will just sit on your face and you will go on to do your skincare with all that oil on your face, instead use a gentle creamy non soap cleanser all the time and maybe skip washin your face in the morning but it is really imp to wash your face after cleansing it with an oil or balm or even micellar water
