I love my Samsung TVs, and I wanted to be able to love their appliances. A buddy did his entire house with all new Samsung appliances a couple years ago and had constant problems with stuff that was 1-2 years old. Fridge ice dispenser kicked it, microwave circuit board/display lights/buttons went toast, dishwasher sensor errors that completely bricked it until they were replaced, washer and/or dryer had major issues too but I wasn’t involved in helping with those repairs - so, not sure what the issues were. Point is, I am declaring another couple votes against risking buying any Samsung appliances that aren’t glowing rectangles.

Yes. I was looking for a new refrigerator about five years ago. I looked at the Samsung models. They offer a lot of features. But what I don't like is having an ice maker within the refrigerator compartment instead of the freezer section. Doing that seems to increase problems for some reason. After reading through many reviews, I got the feeling that Samsung refrigerators overall don't seem to last. I bought a Whirlpool just like what was shown in the video and I haven't regretted it. I had bought a Kenmore Elite model before, and it was Whirlpool that was building the refrigerators for Sears. That one lasted almost 19 years. Hopefully the current Whirlpool will last at least as long.

I’ve learned that in the long run, appliance are made to last 7-15 years these days. Doesn’t matter the brand. Nothing will last like they used to. We had a GE fridge, it would fluctuate temperature, the door panel screen that shows the temperature and controls the ice and water went out, the fan in the freezer had to be replaced. We just replaced it with a Samsung bespoke French door with ice maker in the drawer. Any French door with ice and water in the fridge area is asking for trouble.

Nine years later, we haven’t had a problem other than the flap (mullion) between the two doors stopped closing which was replaced on warranty. No other fridge has ever kept food longer or produce fresher. BTW, we don’t use the ice maker which is not on the door. It has withstood brutally hot summer heat for weeks and power outages without any problems (yet). I guess I would never buy another Samsung, but this one has been a champ! 🍒

The absolute BEST refrigerators I've ever owned were a 1957 GE and then a 1961 GE... The '57 was plugged in and running for 30 years when I "found" it in the basement kitchen of a house that I was doing some electrical work in, way back in 1987. The elderly lady that owned it said she just didn't need it any longer and sold it to me for ten whole dollars! I used that fridge in my first home until I sold the place in '96.... I'm pretty sure that it was the refrigerator that sold the house 😁 Fast forward to 2005 when I married my second wife. We bought an old farmhouse "out in the country", which didn't come with a fridge. My Father In Law said "just take the one out in my garage" and gave us their '61 GE... Cream yellow with the fridge above and freezer below, ice maker and everything else. It has been running EVERY DAY since he and my Mother In Law bought it new in 1961 and she took the absolute best care of it all it's life... Appliance Wax every month and cleaned out every two weeks. People come over to visit and always ask to buy it from us😂

It was still under warranty and Home Depot tried to deny the warranty but we were so pissed that we told them to come get it or we would load it in our truck and dump it at the front doors. They promptly gave us a refund and a huge discount on our Whirlpool which is still running fine.

The $1400 Samsung was clearance priced as well, you didn’t mention this… Be honest with your reporting…
@ImHereForIt12411 ай бұрын
He didn’t say that model was on clearance, you’re correct. But I’ve noticed the Samsungs go on much better promotions and much more often than other brands

The clearance isn’t relevant to his case. He’s saying to stay away from that brand. Buy a Samsung TV. I am stuck with a Samsung fridge. Thankfully, I have been able to do the repairs on it so far, but there have been repairs. I’m anti digital appliances by this point.

Get mine delivered in a few days and I’m so excited! We got it on sale and when we were buying by it the price was even lower than what was advertised! Came out to $1739 plus we get a free set of panels of our color choice!

This guy has a serious issue with every brand except speed queen, to each their own if someone wants to buy a Samsung let them buy it you can’t sit there and tell people this one’s good this one’s bad this one good this one bad you have no clue.
@TheSighphiguy Жыл бұрын
if all washer/dryer manufacturers where rated on a scale of 1 to 100,..Speed Queen would be a 95 and the next closest would be a 50. SQ rules the roost.

Pricey Speed Queen is the Vitamix, Lexus of washers. It's only worth if your doing more than 5 loads a day like a extra large family. But a simple $250-500 Whirlpool gets the job done for 15-25 years and small families.
@justsomeone898 ай бұрын
What do you have against samsung? Every video you critisize the brand. My samsung fridge still works after 9 years of continues usage. It only once clogged up the defrost pan with ice which is a general problem with a lot of other brands.

@sylviaivie70479 ай бұрын
@@brianwilliams9154 no, people always "want" stainless until they live with it. They get tired or having to fight and wipe for fingerprints so eventually the sell it. IF YOU MUST GET STAINLESS BUY USED.

I find it interesting that "budget" refrigerators are $2,399 or $2,999. I've notice that Maytag (a Whirlpool brand) offers a 10 year warranty on the compressor. I think LG might have a few issues and class action lawsuits.

My folks had a Westinghouse. They bought when they got together in 1975-1976. My mom died in 2014 and my dad let the house go to pot. Anyway, he moved out and sold the house in 2019. He left the fridge with the house and was still working without issue. I don’t ever remember that fridge ever needing any service. My question is: if they can build a fridge that reliable 50 years ago then why can’t they today? Cars have gotten more reliable but appliances seem to be going the opposite direction

I have a 50-year-old Profilo brand refrigerator at my home. Even at the lowest setting, the inside is covered with ice. Electricity consumption is also very low. It has never needed any repairs to date. It works as good as the first day. There is no electronic circuit inside. I wish mechanical home appliances would continue to be produced.
