I literally bought this lens a few days ago! Not that much time to test it yet, but I feel it is pretty similar to my Sigma 18-35 with Speedbooster on GH5. Regarding the focal length, it is 32mm on M43, whereas the 18-35 comes out at about 25,2 - 49mm; It is MUCH lighter though. I will see if I can find any more differences while using the two :)

No way! Yeah I feel like this lens is a good alternative to the 18-35mm because it's around the middle of the focal range that the 18-35mm gives you on the speedbooster. Another bonus to this lens compare to the 18-35mm is that it's weather sealed. Either way both are great and it'll be tough to choose one over the other. Thanks for watching!!

I really want to buy the 30 f1.4 for my panasonic g85 but the only thing is the focus by wire. Sigma 18-35 does not have that focusing system so that why I am deciding If I should go with sigma 18-35 or sigma f1.4

Love First hmmm, well the focusing isn’t my favorite either on the 18-35mm. While it has hard stops for minimal and infinity focus, it keeps spinning after you hit it. It’s tough because the focal range on the 18-35mm is basically 3 primes in one, but the 30mm f1.4 is native so it’s completely weather sealed and much lighter. The 30mm f1.4 (full frame equivalent 60mm) is technically longer than what the the zoomed in 18-35mm is as well (full frame equivalent 50mm). I hope this helps, both are great choice so you just have to figure out what is best for your needs!

Can this lens also usable with panasonic full frame like sony in super 35 kind of mode
@JakeMcHugh
@JakeMcHugh 3 жыл бұрын
No it can not unfortunately for two reasons. First, Panasonic's full frame line uses the L mount and this lens is for MFT or Sony E. Second, the Image circle of MFT isn't big enough for super 35 for this to work. The reason that super 35mm mode works with the Sony camera and lens is because they use the same lens mount and because the crop sensor Sony lenses and cameras are about the same size as Super 35mm. Another reason for this working is because you would be using a Full frame lens on the camera and just cropping in. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

I m thinking about my first prime lens by the way currently I m using a Panasonic g85 with a 12-60mm lens and my money work is youtube videos and wedding photography videos etc I know for youtube videos this lens is a very good option but what about weeding and events like that, what's ur opinion✌
@JakeMcHugh
@JakeMcHugh 3 жыл бұрын
I think this would be great for wedding and events. This lens is faster than your 12-60mm kit lens so it would work nicer in lowlight situations and give you more shallow depth of field. I personally like the field of view this lens gives with MFT cameras as well being around 35mm full frame equivalent. It's wide enough for you to get up and close for some more intimate shots without the distortion that you get with wide angles lenses. I hope this helps!

What mic system u recommend for me currently I m using boya by m1 lavailer mic and I didn't have voice treatment in my room and it's always my surroundings seem to pretty loud in my opinion where I shoot as an example, I live in delhi India and my room is next to man road and almost 5000 to 8000 on foot and almost 500bikes easily passes on daily basis with using horn etc, so what's ur opinion and I only wanted my mic setup for KZbin videos( I want crystal clear sound with mid to heavy base in my voice)

Fantastic review mate, great quality, you did an awesome job! I've been watching A6400 and Sigma 16mm 1.4 reviews for the past couple of days and this was by far the most useful and well put together one I've found, hats off to you sir! Out of curiosity, what microphone are you using? I'm hoping to upgrade my video and audio setup at the end of January for my channel and while I've narrowed it down to the A6400 and Sigma 16mm f1.4, I'm not entirely sure about the microphone, as the room I film in is not great from a reverb perspective. Thanks and Happy New Year! ✌ P.S. I've subscribed after only watching this one video of yours 😄

That’s awesome that this video was able to help you out so much! I was using the Rode Videomicro for this video which is a really great mic for the money. If you want to save a few more bucks you could go with the Movo VXR10 too. I did a video comparing the two which you can see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h16TZXavo9p5ic0 In my more recent videos I now use the Samson CO2 with the Zoom H4n Pro, but this setup cost a little more than the other two mentioned. Since you mentioned reverb I highly suggest you check out this video here where I go over using moving blankets for sound treatment: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJXJqaqdisp2irs Depending on your space you might be able to hang them on the walls or put them on stands and it should help you out quite a bit if setup correctly. It’s even better if you can double them up. I hope this all helps you out and thanks for watching!

It was a little shaky on the 6400. How have you you been liking the Sony so far? It looks like you could have yours own golfing driving range in your backyard.

The Sony has been great for the talking heads and for taking thumbnails! The 8-bit with S-Log 2 can be finicky at times though. I use my GH5 for a lot of things yet that don’t require good autofocus. Funny you mention that! I use to use the farm field behind the house as a driving range all the time when I was younger. That all came to halt after I hit my high school’s band director’s house on the other side 😂

Dude I'm so happy with my choice. I'd love to see your opinion on how pleasing to the eye the pro mist filter is with and without it in dimmly lit and well lit studios. I'm seriously considering buying the 1/8 power one (through your affiliate link of course).

I actually really enjoy using mine! If you notice the lamp in my G85 review video compare to my newer ones you will see the difference with the halation. I like how it just smooths out the skintones as well without making it too creamy like the 1/4 power. Maybe I should do a review on this later in the future to show the difference more clearly. Thanks for watching!

The small print in the manual says the lens is not rain proof. It is dust and splash proof but it can't be used on a rainy day without protection

Curious what made u confident to do this type of material with so many other channels that do the same?
@JakeMcHugh
@JakeMcHugh 4 жыл бұрын
For me it was mostly being able to test out gear and help others. I have always been kind of a technical person with my gear in all my hobbies so doing reviews like this makes it enjoyable for me. I also felt that even though there is a lot of great creators in this niche I have something that they don't which is myself or my personality. Even if we all make the same type of content we will all have a little different spin to our videos that makes it our own. The thing that I have noticed with doing this channel is how much better of a filmmaker or content creator it has made me. It helps me stay consistent and I feel that with every video I'm always doing something to make continuous improvements to the overall production quality or the workflow that I use to make these videos. I look back at some of the videos that I made only a few months ago and think to myself "wow, the videos I make now are better than this one is already." I highly recommend getting started as soon as you can and don't be afraid of putting out what you might not think is a good video because we need to fail in order to grow creatively. I hope this helps you out and thanks for following along!

Ha!! No kidding. If Sony could just fix the rolling shutter and have some useable IBIS in this camera it would be a game changer!
