You are correct, I didn't realize it isn't available for purchase until after I made this video. I'll link it when it becomes available.

I ordered the first one that came out and ended up getting the 3rd generation, I really think there all the same just different knobs and buttons , it’s a very good plasma cutter for the price

I had the same issue with the drag guide when I first set up my machine, but quickly realized the guide was slightly bent. A quick adjustment with some lineman pliers and it works beautifully. The supplied replacements needed no adjustment.

Pilot arc is a function that allows the plasma conductivity to operate without the torch tip touching the metal, which prolongs the life of the tip.

Hi. VERY GOOD VIDEO! THANKS. I just received my Amazon, Bestarc Gen7 unit. I agree with everything you stated, while unboxing. 'FEELS' like a very well made unit. Flexible ground & work cables, solid torch. TIME WILL TELL. Hopefully, fire it up today. I read the instruction manual & I was almost completely satisfied with the diagrams & start up precautions & procedures. Wondering,,, there's a graph that describes the different sizes of the consumable burning tips to be used on different thicknesses of metals, but the 2 EXTRA burning tips seem to have the same numbers on them? Can you explain?

I'll have to look into this. I don't recall seeing this in my manual. But I haven't looked at it in months. Perhaps it was for a different voltage input? 110v vs 220v?

Great video. How have you got on with the unit regards durability since you uploaded the video? I’m looking to purchase one.

Yes and no. I use the plasma cutter for making my rocket stoves, and unfortunately they haven't been selling well this year. So I can't really give an honest opinion on durability. Thanks for watching.

Hi, what shade are you using on your Speedglas filter ? Thanks
@steelforestweldingandforge
@steelforestweldingandforge 8 ай бұрын
I use the number 8 "cutting" setting. Use whatever shade is most comfortable for you. If you are seeing orbs after you cut or weld, your shade isn't dark enough.

Not quite, it's how long it stays on after the plasma stream loses a path to the workpiece. It gives you time to bridge the gaps in variable cutting conditions, eg when cutting mesh or across a hole in the material. Post arc time.

Do you happen to know if you can run this plasma cutter on a generator? Love the review

Thank you. Honestly I don't know enough about generators to give you a good answer. I would ASSUME so. It's just a matter of consistent power and supply.

Do you mean what size breaker panel do you need? This machine runs on both 110v and 220v. I run the machine at 220v.

What would happen if you just turned everything all the way up and just go slow or fast depending on what your cutting
@steelforestweldingandforge
@steelforestweldingandforge 9 ай бұрын
Very good question. As long as you are comfortable with the speed and can make good and accurate cuts. You most certainly can run your machine at near max. Where you may run into trouble, though, is with thinner material. Your travel speed would have to be extremely fast. You're likely better off turning your machine down and making good cuts. If you're making straight cuts with a jig, then that probably wouldn't be an issue. Also, keep in mind that more heat means more warping on thin material.

PA 1 is short duration solid material, PA15 is long duration for like a mesh wire like a trailer gate or something.

slow and smooth on the cut. Too fast or jerky and it will not cut well. The thicker the material the slower the cut movement.

There is something off with that recommended cut chart in the manual, same numbers for both 110 and 240. Energy doesn't work that way, in any circumstances. Watts of power is the voltage multiplied by the current, or in simple terms a setting of say 40 amps on a 240 supply will give you a lot more cutting power than the same current setting on a 110 supply. Even though the voltage of the plasma stream is being regulated, the PWM duty is having to pay the piper.

You raise a good point. I always treat setting charts as a estimate for a ballpark to get you started.

@peterthomas5792 30A at 115V, ignoring rms, is 3.4kW 30A at 240V is 7.2kW, more than twice as much. What's a watt you ask? Power, the ability to do work.
