@@KombatW0mbat Maybe. In Rise, the apes didn’t talk and Caesar himself only spoke a handful of words. As a result, there’s some ambiguity regarding their intentions. For example, there was a moment at the end of the bridge battle when Caesar refused to help Steven Jacobs. He turned around, nodded his head at koba, and just walked away. A lot of people interpreted this as Caesar letting koba kill Jacobs but it’s possible he was just greeting a fellow ape, the same way we nod to people in public. Another good example is when Caesar freed buck from his cage. Buck is clearly grateful and some people say you can see him mouth the words ‘thank you’ to Caesar. But is he really thanking him, or does it just look like that? Did buck even know what ‘thank you’ meant? It’s ambiguous because the apes are, to a certain degree, humanized. Thus, it’s hard to tell whether a certain behavior is a sign of higher intelligence or just natural animal behavior that we misunderstood because this is a movie about talking animals.

I always admired how Caesar never wanted to kill the humans in this trilogy, rather just break free from their rule. I never saw it as him being weak, but as Caesar actually being the bigger individual. Caesar was a great leader because he kept his eye on the actual goal, which was for his kind to be free from human rule. He only killed when it was absolutely necessary and he always did his best to not make things personal. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes when Caesar and the other apes rencountered the humans he even tried to make peace with them rather than go to war, because he knew how devastating war could be for both the humans and the apes. A wise leader always searches for peace if it is possible rather than solve problems through violence. Caesar didn’t force the apes to hate the human race, he didn’t ask them to kill every single one of them (like Koba), he just thought about what was best for his kind. Caesar knew in order to be a higher species you must be better than the ones who abused you. I saw the trailer for the 4th movie and I’m so hyped for it! Tho it seems some apes have learned nothing from the humans and are beginning to act just like they did after becoming the dominant species. Hopefully this new character (who I believe is named Noa) will take after him and follow in his footsteps.

personally, i now consider this movie a classic and one of the greatest remakes/reboot of all time - how they remixed the original to focus on the ape instead of the man (Charlton Heston) in the original and still come up with an engaging story with deep connotations especially with today's events while creating one the most iconic recent characters in Caesar - in an almost dialogue free role is nothing short of astounding. I don't use the term classic lightly and that's probably why it's taken me 10 years to openly say that Rise of the Apes 2012 in my personal opinion is an absolute classic. The sequel Dawn of the Apes is arguably a better movie - I may be wrong but the way Rise of the Apes establishes itself and turned an unnecessary rehash into iconic and compulsive viewing that remains even more relevant than ever is nothing short of astounding!

Apes like chimps, gorillas and orangutans are stupidly strong. In general, their build allows them to move faster than humans, not to mention they are not bipedal. They have the ability to walk on two legs, but they don't traverse their jungle habitats as humans would. They have incredible upper body strength, giving them the ability to climb trees and swing from branches. Not so much gorillas because they're so heavy, but they are simply a product of their environment.
