@@edreynolds8721Countries do need a defence force. This conversation is going on in 🇩🇪 at the moment. They use the word „Streitkräfte“ directly translated as fighting forces. I saw an argument that we should be talking about „Verteidigungskräfte“ - defence force - but it probably shows what our leaders have in mind. Military is ok. It’s the weapons which are the problem. As someone in the video mentioned, they have a sell-by date and politicians need an excuse to buy new ones and of course, those kick backs and other sources of enrichment beckon. These are wishes which arms c0rp0r@tions and their l0bbyists are just too happy to fulfill. A few hundred thousand deaths aren’t a problem for them. With the 🇺🇦 fiasco, 🇩🇪 has managed to get rid of all its old inventory and create more debt to the tune of 100 billion Euros to re-equip at a time when the country should be taking measures to reduce spending. Sorry, I have digressed somewhat.

It's OUR money that's killing thousands of people. I feel bad, because I helped pay for this. We have leverage then, because they depend on us for funds. Without our taxes, they couldn't do anything. Now it all makes sense why we pay so must in taxes and we're 35 TRILLION DOLLAR in debt. We are in debt, not them. We even pay thier salaries. What frightens me most is that I 'thought' that it was the weapons manufacturers who were the creators of the constant wars around the globe, but to actually 'see' it ... along with the depth of the corruption, is what truly makes me quite literally sick in my stomach. This was absolutely Brilliant! I watch a lot of the Chris Hedges shows online, but now I know how he manages to have such a great depth of knowledge ... & wisdom to each of his interviews. It's hard to believe that so many lives are lost, and so much suffering is created, purely so that some powerful people can become even wealthier than they already are. This isn't only sickening, but it's frightening, because I can see no way this will ever end.

There's a song most Americans know. The first verse is "I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free." I'm not proud to be an American. In fact I'm rather ashamed. Our corporations are looters and profiteers who only act in public interest when it is profitable to do so. Our politicians are their servants, bought and paid for, standing up to corruption only when it is not their own. The people with power in our country and in many countries seek to use that power in ways which are antithetical to any definition of public good. And we the people tolerate this further than we ought. Yet even knowing this, nothing is likely to change. Not without some extreme catalyzing event, which will have its own unforeseen consequences, likely making an eventual return to a very similar status quo. It's disheartening.

As happy as I am to see this uploaded, and to see the interest in it, I just want to point out to anyone seeing it for the first time, it is an old documentary. 2016 to be precise. so, eight years old. But the relevance in the present day - the MOST important thing in 2024 is that no matter what Biden says about stopping arms sales to israel because of their barbarism in Gaza, the fact is, he doesn't get the final say. His financial backers have more invested in weapons than they have invested in democracy.

When it comes to arms deals with the Saudis there is no difference on what party is in control. Trump sold billions in arms to Saudis as well.
