I Certainly agree with you. This gave me so much hope that maybe some things aren’t as completely screwed up as we sometimes think. Particularly nice to note that this is happening in China and Central Ancient China at that. So even in ultra-modern China where many Bad Things appear to be happening there are things like this carrying on just like maybe 1200 years ago.

21.43 - 24.21 is the most interesting part when Zongman cannot and would not sleep in order to maintain vigilance towards newly hatch eggs, and to take care for them... The statement that Zongman lived like this for a thousand years and there is no reason to change is very important, because it highlights their distinctive way of life.

Cormorants are fascinating. One time I rescued an oil-covered Brandt's Cormorant on the Oregon coast, taking it wrapped in paper towels, placed under the car heater, to an Oregon bird rehab center. I was shocked at the protective clothing worn by the rescue workers, including elbow length thick gloves and they were shocked I hadn't been severely injured by my oily friend! They assured me he should recover okay after a wash in Dawn detergent, as he wasn't terribly debilitated!
