When it got to summer term, we had to wait for permission from the Headmaster until we could wear skirts with ankle socks day-to-day. If we wore it before he had, we would probably get told off. (Some teachers, male and female, didn't give a damn. You could tell they thought it was as stupid as we did. One teacher I was friends with before even going to the school even told me she thought it was.) For non-school uniform days, girls had basically the same dress code as normal when it came to skirts.

I’m at uni now (and have been for like 3 years) and I had a school uniform all through primary school and high school. I enjoyed having uniforms all through school because I didn’t have to worry about choosing a different outfit and it put everyone on an ‘even playing field’. Now I have to find something different to wear everyday and while it can be difficult it’s helped me to hone my personal style :)
