I see how it is... ;^) Anyways, I was definitely pissed about the ending, since I was reading the logs as well, but I had assumed at the time, since I played it on PC at launch, that some of the DLC Id had mentioned was gonna resolve the story. Maybe in a similar vein as the 2nd and 3rd episodes of the original Doom. But nope. Just multiplayer junk. Speaking of DLC though, if you haven't enabled the option to center the weapon models like in the original Doom, definitely give it a shot. It's pretty great.

Actually Brutal Doom does not give you full aiming, full aiming is a feature of GZDoom, which lays the ground work for TONS of Doom gameplay mods. You should really check out the ZDoom forums, there's TONS of gameplay mods that can give you just a wide range of experiences. There's even some mods that give you the Doom 4 weapons in the original Doom, which if combined with custom mapsets, which you'd want to find on Doomworld, can give you even more of Doom 4's fun. Also, I'm glad that you explained the DOOM lore to me, since I haven't really felt like grabbing all the logs, or opening the game to read through it all when I'm not in the mood to rip and tear, even though I REALLY wanted to get into the lore for this game. As for the lore of the original game; Doom Guy was kicked to Phobos when he refused to kill innocent civilians, then he just fights off the demons. Also his pet rabbit Daisy is killed by the demons which pushes him even further.

Funny thing. Doomslayer I believe is Doomguy. At the end of Doom 64, Doomguy decides to stay in Hell to continue to fight for literally forever since you don't age in hell. And Sammy boy finds Doomslayer in hell and digs him up.

Just a heads up: the Marine From the old Doom game and -The Doom Slayer- are two different characters. The lore even explains he’s a somewhat ethereal being who was in protection of the original dimension that was combined with Hell. He wasn’t also blessed by one of the high angels, a sepherum I they are called, and given Armor made in hell after kicking enough ass in hell. The demons eventually drop a mountain on him to get him to stop.

I found the story of Doom actually holding an interesting moral dilemma. One could see it as, say, the nuclear energy discussion, it is dangerous and has a ton of problematic implications, but if we get rid of it immediatly we would be setting us back. And worse if we depend on it entirely. It also makes a fascinating case of emergent storytelling. The player character (and most cases the player himself) does not care about the plot, so they just rip and tear everything, no worries about the consequences. By doing that you are basically becoming a chaotic force above the demons, which creates a beautiful irony.

Wherein lies the difference between negotiation with criminals and terrorists? Or even between legitimate governments at war? Is it different if the terrorists are holding captured combatants or civilians? I think a blanket statement of "not negotiating" with terrorists is ultimately a limiting position that handicaps your diplomatic options in the event of a crisis.

I found that my aiming was great when I used the super shotgun. Easily my favourite weapon because you don't need precision aiming. All you need to do is run up to that smug imp that's been running around for 2 fucking minutes, shove that super shotgun deep into its chest and pull the trigger.
