Man, after season 1 aired I read the manga because I enjoyed the show so much. They weren't announcing a season 2 for a while, and I got nervous that so many great scenes would never make it to animation. Then Season 2 rolled around and I thought "Oh, no. Are they actually going to do it right?" Then Episode 1 dropped and I teared up and said, "Why do we deserve such perfection?" While I would argue that Episode 7 is the emotional highlight of the series, I will give episode 1 credit for being just as amazingly charming. Now we just have to wait for those OVAs and a proper ending to the series (which actually follows up on many of the themes you presented here and even more stuff. I cannot wait to see more BROCCOLI). Also, anyone and everyone who has watched season 2 should rewatch the first OP for those sweet sweet references.
@Dell-ol6hb5 жыл бұрын
Brendan D'Angelo wait they are releasing OVAs for the last arcs? How many ovas are we getting
@brendandangelo7155 жыл бұрын
@@Dell-ol6hb To answer your questions in order: kinda and around 4. There will be new Mob psycho OVAs coming out BUT they will be entirely new side stories. Good news is that these stories are being written by ONE himself, so we expect that there will be little to no inconsistencies with the rest of the adaption. Furthermore, these OVAs are likely to be based on bonus chapters for the series. One such possible side story is one for Emi and here novel writing that already exists. So, yeah, OVAs coming out not sure when. Last I heard it was late Fall, but I think it has been pushed back since then...
@LieThePenguin5 жыл бұрын
honestly whats super interesting between the season 1 and 2 OPs are how many fucking parallels there actually are with them and how they are laid out. I wont give away all of it, but there are scenes within both OPs that are very similar yet slightly different to show the parallels between mob for both seasons, or they have scenes that represent a similar scene from the shows themselves, but for their respective season. The only one I'll give away I thought was nifty is that both OP's show an iconic visual from the climatic final battle. Seaosn 1's shows the "eye" in the sky in the OP, but its also the exact same as the glimpse of the sky/moon that occurs during the final battle once the claw base was destroyed mostly. Then season 2 shows the giant ball of buildings in it. There are a handful of other parallels and it just makes me love that they put just as much fucking effort into crafting the OP's as they did the fucking show itself.
@brendandangelo7155 жыл бұрын
@@LieThePenguin Exactly! The theming for the 2 are amazing. I wanted to point out some of my favorites below as well (spoilers?): In the first opening Mob, Reigen, and Teru are seen rotating on Ferris wheels -> in the second Serizawa(umbrella man) and Shou are seen on the exact same Ferris wheels. Both openings are loops. If you were to make a gif of each opening, each would be seamless. BROCCOLI. I had to add it. Too much fun to add it.

Whats even crazier is you should rewatch season one after season two. A lot of "seeds" are sowed a bunch throughout season 1 for everything that transpired through season 2. I rewatched it as I was showing Mob psycho to a few of my friends who arent really anime watchers(They absolutely loved it. Even my one buddy who was saying at the start "If I dont like it I'm just gonna leave alright." ). And I kept having jaw drop moments/realizations through a lot of season 1. The biggest two were likely in relation to the final episode and then the climax scene of the reigen arc. Season 1 shows you the interaction of mob meeting reigen through mobs perspective while the climax of the reigen arc shows it to you from Reigens perspective. So during MOBs fight with Cactus boi, when he loses control in the end its noted that he begins to literally steal cactus boi's psychic power before completely deconstructing his school. Also in the final fight of season 1 with the 100% gratitude and reigen gaining psychic powers from mob briefly. Well thats the introduction to his ability to "share" the psychic energy from others. But the show never really specifies it as anything that special in either occasion outside of reigen having powers briefly. So much of the show is so organically done that it makes sense whether you realized it or not and I find that fucking amazing. How fucking well everything weaves together and honestly watching the first season again after originally finishing the second then rewatching the second as well after was just a fucking EYE opener for how well crafted it all is. Just like how they turned the gag moment of mob being given broccoli seeds into a massive plot point for the finale. Thats how the show gets you a lot, a lot of the "comedic" moments are actually very important, but you pay them no mind as they are shown as just some comedic moment. I also wanted to add for them feels and stuff, anyone notice reigen was a heavy fucking smoker prior to meeting mob. And then during the series(outside of the season 1 ED) we never see him smoke.

Glad you mentioned One Punch Man. Very interested in hearing some opinions on S2. I rewatched the full S1 over the weekend just to remind myself what it looked like, and I don't know if I can keep watching the new season with the way it looks now. I can't recall a single impressive looking shots, but I can name a couple very egregious animation errors off the top of my head. I've seen the opinion that people are just spoiled on the old season and this one isn't bad being expressed a lot, and honestly I'm starting to think it's the other way around. I think people have gotten so used to shitty low-tier animation quality that they will eat anything up and ask for more.
@fuwariii5 жыл бұрын
I feel it too man. I don’t really care about the downgrade in animation cause it’s to be expected from all the news. The problem i have is it feels like the episode was rushed. Feels like they want to rush through the stuff with King before reintroducing us to Saitama and Genos first. It’s like the 5/4 years gap between the seasons didn’t happen. Oh and it doesn’t work when binging it also with the way they ended season 1 (with Genoses narration and everything). Not saying that I don’t like King. I’ve read the manga and it’s honestly one of the best stuff in OPM. The first episode didn’t really ease the viewer in like Mob’s season 2 opener.
