This might actually save my powerfeed, thank you! Was running it hard to test it when the motor started getting hot and smoking. I thought fire so I yanked cover off with it unplugged. Problem is the pot wires came loose from the rapid feed plug. Irony is it was working till I went to go test it on the bench only for those wires to short and pop the pot. Luckily you made this video!

Hi, great video and I agree with you on finding out how to do things on the net. I have a power feed that had no power light, the variable speed wasn’t working and the knob is cracked, was 22 years old and it was in very grotty condition so I purchased a new one for $200 AUD and fitted it up. I pulled the old one apart tonight and came to the same conclusion as you that the potentiometer was cactus and I could see the power LED was burnt out. Another reason I fitted a new unit is that in Australia we use 230 volt and this power feed is 110 volt and uses a step down transformer, weird. Anyway I’ll fix and cleanup the old unit and put it and the transformer away as a spare or see if I can adapt it to my surface grinder. Another thing that stood out is that although my unit was 22 years old there was very little wear in the top gears and none in the large plastic gear in the bottom. Your video made the perfect double check for me so it’s much appreciated. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

Glad you found it helpful. I used to use step down transformers when I was in Germany. Worked well on everything except things with a lot of draw (clothing iron) my friends would borrow it and pop the fuse. They just couldn’t understand why it kept happening. I couldn’t ever teach them enough

Thanks for the help, mine was doing the same thing as yours so i ordered the potentiometer as suggested. Motor works now but only in high speed, when i turn the potentiometer it has no effect, thoughts? thanks!

Make sure it is wired up properly. If the wires are mixed up, I think it can give that problem. Be cautious please, I don’t want you to damage anything/body.

Good stuff! Do you know what the story is for lube on these things? I'm guessing some kind of grease... The tags on mine are worn off. 🙄
@EverydayJourney4 жыл бұрын
Not sure. Both that I took apart looked different. One had like axel grease and the other looked like white lithium

@@EverydayJourney Thanks man.. I might give the company a call.

@@jagboy69 I know mine said to use silicone grease and not graphite. You need a non conducting grease as the electronics are open in the same housing

Hi thanks for the good video. I have a question, there is a kind of reset or overload SW when you can push in to reset now it's stuck and motor is not working. Please advice the this switch faulty?
@EverydayJourney8 ай бұрын
Some switches can be taken apart and cleaned. I am not familiar with the overload switch in this. For testing overall operation, you can manually do the function of the switch. If it works then you know that your switch is the only problem. If it can’t be cleaned, then replace it. Be careful while testing. All our fingers and toes are important :-)

Hi again, any chance you can put a link to where you found the replacement potentiometer please as I’m not having much joy. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

I search for bestline power feed. Then I just chose their link for replacement parts. I guess it’s pretty common to need replacement because it’s one of the few replacement parts that are available

@@EverydayJourney Thanks again, I found them on Ali Express for about $15 AUD with free postage. They have several different potentiometers so I chose the one to suit the AL-310S power feed which seems to be a common model number for the generic Chinese power feeds. If it fixes the problem then I’ll order a few and list them on eBay so others can find them as it seems to be a reasonably common problem. Thanks for your help my friend. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

How did you get the bottom gear off?

I’ve slept since then so don’t remember. Look at my other video where I take apart the first one. I’m pretty sure I covered it in that video. Hope it helps

My power feed traveler it's running backwards, when I push it to the left goes right and right goes to the left. How can I fixed that.. Thanks.
@EverydayJourney4 жыл бұрын
It may be in your wiring. I will look at mine later this evening to see what I can find out for you. I’ll let you know
@EverydayJourney4 жыл бұрын
What brand of power feed do you have? As far as I can see, it’s either a wiring issue or a gearing issue. Either one could be changed to give you the results you’re looking for. I’m just not sure which fix is the easiest/cheapest

Because $175 is a lot of money for some. If money is no issue, you can also replace the whole mill
