I really enjoyed this video I just bought the Epson 7820 yesterday and I'm looking to 13x19 prints and i did not see that size on the printer.

They make the output tray removable so you can install a printable movable aluminum base for DTG. This way you can print directly onto a t-shirt for example.

I bought one of these WF-7820 printers in mid-October 2022, oddly enough to replace an old HP Laserjet 5200 that I used in my home office for printing engineering drawings, which are commonly used in that kind of industry and are often known as "planograph". The 5200 is hard to kill, as they are real workhorses, but Microsoft did something with a Windows update that deleted the driver and would not allow reinstallation of the driver from HP. I tried biting the bullet and just buying whatever 11x17 (wide format) laser printer HP currently makes, but could not find any current models that accept that size paper, except one expensive color model with 4 toner cartridges costing over $300 each. Tried contacting HP but they seem to have become total A-holes, and not interested in helping loyal customers buy a new printer. Nope. I tried Canon who at least had somebody live to talk to, but they don't make any wide format laser printers either, and I was told I would have to go into their industrial printer realm to get ones capable of 11x17. I could get nowhere with Brother. I then tried Epson, and was impressed that I immediately got ahold of a pre-sale support agent who was willing to discuss my needs, and who seemed to know their product line thoroughly. She advised that that Epson no longer makes laser printers, and recommended that I stay clear of 'ink tank' type printers because of my low usage, where depending on my current tasks I might not need to use the printer for up two two weeks at a time. She recommended the WF-7820, and while I did not wish to return from having an 'all-laser' printer farm in my office to the inkjet world, this machine DOES have that 11x17 capable document scanner, something I never had but wished that I did. No local stores carried the 7820, and Amazon was asking northwards of $400 but was out of stock. Epson's own website listed them as in stock for a discounted price of $299 with free shipping. So I went with it, figuring if I did not like it, at least I was only out a few hundred. This does seem to be a pretty nice printer. Quality seems decent, it looks good, has a lot of well conceived convenience features. I like that it has not only the color touchscreen but ALSO all those 'real' buttons for the user interface. And if I download the full driver/software suite, I can choose to control any feature of the printer/copier/scanner/fax either from the front panel, or from my computer screen, or both (but not at the same time for the same task......I found that if I (for example) started a scan job from the front panel, that I better not try to do anything using the computer app's scanning controls during that job, or things would go off the rails and be confusing to get working correctly again, with both the machine and the software throwing up error messages, often contradictory ones. It is also odd that there are some small feature inconsistencies between control panel and computer software, e.g. from the control panel I can specify where I want the PDF or JPG resulting from a scan job to be saved on the computer, but trying to use the computer software's 'smart scan' software, there is no place to specify destination and the files just go to an inconvenient location. It is not always intuitive how to manipulate parts of the printer. One might wish to raise the top in order to access the ink cartridges, only to grab the wrong area and lift the scanner plate cover instead. Most all-in-ones I have experience with do a better job in this regard; ergonomics! Scanning using the ADF (automatic document feeder) is very slow; the paper really crawls through. At least it is duplex (optionally). I found that while ADF-ing a small stack of 11x17 drawings, the pristine ones fed through just fine, but originals that had been 'handled' and creases, folds, slightly dog-eared corners, roughed up edges, etc; handled very poorly, with lots of misfeeds. By contrast, the printing itself is pretty fast. I have not tried to see if it will duplex print, either manually or automatically. I thought I read somewhere that it could, but I have not tested it that way. A couple very-Epson-like features, which I had a taste of years ago with a simpler Workforce printer I once owned; - The paper tray initially seems to NOT be large enough to hold 11x17, but pushing a gray button allows the front of the tray to telescope out towards the front, and THEN it DOES have enough room for 11x17, but now there is this tray jutting out, requiring more table/desk space. - The paper EXIT tray (which fell out in this video) also telescopes out towards the front as required to accommodate larger paper sizes. The cool thing is that, if you have it pushed back in and you try printing to 11x17 paper, a motor automatically telescopes the tray out just before it needs to be there to hold up the paper exiting the machine. One thing I rather hate about this printer is that the power cord does not use the universal IEC type plug and socket that almost everything else uses. Instead, it uses that three-lobed type that I normally associate with power cords for laptop computer power bricks. This seems to be an odd choice of connector for the application.

Our office just purchased one and we immediately get a paper jam error message after inputting the date/time preferences after startup. It's reading "Paper Jam" with no paper inserted and no clear solution. We can't even continue with the setup since it's bricked right out of the box.

I can’t figure out how to get the glass up. It looks like it wants to go up on the right side but it’s not moving on the left. I can’t even take the blue tape off and he didn’t cover that from the very beginning.

Close the printer top and then open the part that you are trying to open together.

does the et-16650 have the exact same print head as the wf-7820/40? in other words, is the 16650 the ET version of a 7820/40? i skipped out on the et-15000 because it has a 1200 dpi resolution vs the 2400 dpi on the 7820/40, hopefully the 16650 has the 2400 res.

they have the exact same print head. the et-16650 is an ecotank version of the wf-7840. they both have a 4 chip head, 1 chip per color. other models like the 15000 have 2 chip, 1 for black and 1 for cmy. yes, the 16650 is 4800x2400 dpi. the 16650 is $1100, the wf-7840 is $250 (when on sale). a 7840 is not chipless yet, unless you buy the european model (wf-7840dtwf), you don't need to convert the power as the power supply is made for both 120v and 220v, just swap the cable instead of using an adapter.

@@SuBee-M212 13x19 is A3+ and you can see that on the back paper feeder close up at the 6:22 mark. The 11x17 & 13x19 printing is why I bought this printer since I now work from home & need to print out wire harness drawings & schematics.

Dude, there is some sort of catch on the cover of the scanner. It's made of cheap plastic and I feel like I'm going to break it. How come neither you nor Epson give me instructions? You just fly right past that part, and I can't even get through the point of removing all the blue tape. If you're going to make these videos, you have to make them so basic that even someone like me can understand them. Thanks.
