Brother MFC J995DW - Unbox, Setup and Review

I've had the printer for a couple years. For the most part, I'm satisfied but have had some problems with print quality and after going through the maintenance cleaning process a zillion times, and actually replacing less than empty cartridges, it's better but black leaves splotches on the page that are still wet when the page ejects. Also, printing envelopes on this printer is a real pain. Scan and copy functions are good. I had always been an HP guy but was totally frustrated by the ink situation for HP printers....always good quality but got to be too expensive as they seem to run out quickly. The Brother is still doing what I need it to do without having to replace the cartridges frequently but sometimes is frustrating. Seems to be the case for many brands!

I'm looking into this Brother J 995DW. As well as the Canon Prixma G7020. Please share your experiences with either of these AIO printer combos.

cant print black despite new ink and constant print head cleaning. my entire color ink tank got over just because of print head cleaning. also the color ink finish very quickly and once that happens u cannot print black and white also

My printer shuts down when switched on. Next time when switched on, it stays on to be used. Any idea why it shuts down when switched on?

Those cartridges are starter Cartridges and they would have saved more by just giving us regular ones, youre welcome.

the nerve of them.. the most wasteful cartridges you can find, 75% of it is empty. Why the hell would they do that?

K. I was all in on buying this printer. Then I started thinking about some things abt the printer. I'm looking for a tank printer. In essence, this printer is still a cartridge printer. It's still using cartridges that fill a tank component. I want a tank printer, where you fill the tank directly. So, you might want to consider this if you're like me - I thought this was a true tank printer.

Maybe you should try a Canon MegaTank.

I was looking at the epson tank printers but they have crappy reviews and apparently go through ink very quickly.

Good point as I am also doing the same. This Brother is still an Ink Cartridges printer. I hear good things about the Canon Prixma G7020.

For anyone thinking about buying a Brothers (especially this MFC-J995DW) DO NOT DO IT! Buy another manufacture. Brothers make GARBAGE printers! I bought this MFC-J995DW and it only lasted 4-5 months before it started making noises (on it's own) and it finally stopped printing black (with a half cartridge, then I bought a full one and it still didn't work). I actually used a hammer and busted the P.O.S. up and I will NEVER buy a Brothers printer again!

I plan on getting the Brother MFC-J995DW XL. Many people understand your frustration, Nate, but when I get a Brother INKvestment Tank printer, I absolutely will NEVER regret it.

@@reianae.smiley8573 yea but I'm just trying to buy a good printer and it seems difficult af.. Epsons look good but the reviews are bad. Hp same thing. Brother has the best reviews and look like the most promising printer from my research. I'm about to learn the hard way with a 7995dw wish me luck
