Before changing the gender of the Ancient One to a woman, Marvel was thinking of either casting Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy, Liam Neeson or Ken Watanabe. Any of them would have been great choices, but Tilda Swinton proved her self to be great for the role. I guess Neeson and Watanabe were mostly considered as the Ancient One after what they did in "Batman Begins".

This movie is STILL the best live-action Doctor Strange film. The sequel "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" (2022) reduced the titular character to being more of a supporting character overshadowed by America Chavez & Scarlet Witch.

This scene is deeper than any scene I could have ever imagined coming from these types of superficial marvel/suoerhero movies. In fact, Dr Strange is the only movie that truly deserves my attention. I’m glad they casted Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen and Benedict Cumberbach, they gave depth to this marvel movie. I must say though, that the villain storyline was too simple and almost makes it look like his reason for being evil was too dumb. Maybe in the comic he has been more developed.
