Nate, that little hook at the end of your tape measure is intentionally loose - here's why,..It wiggles on its rivets to make up for the hook’s thickness. Push the tip against something for an inside measurement, and the hook is included in the reading; hook it on the end of a piece for an outside measure, and the resulting gap equals the space the hook would take up. But if the hook leaves you guessing when you’re measuring short distances, line up the 1-inch mark at the start, then deduct that extra inch from the final measurement. Keep up the great job !!!
@howardmarshall5713 Жыл бұрын
Well said. The 2ml gap at the head of the tape is the width of a Hand saw blade. it also to serve measurer a plus or minus 1 to 2ml tolerance on the work piece. This allows for reaming or sanding. grinding or plaining.

At last it's coming together and is going to be great addition to your collection. A fantastic paint job would be far more impressive than looking at all the weld areas and mistake cover ups. Have you given up painting Chad? We haven't seen you in the paint booth for a long time. Many of your followers had suggested a good coat of paint. Okay it will take a lot of work in preparation, but you said you wanted something different and a one off. It's your build. Don't forget to beef that rear suspension up. Don't just extend the spring shackles, add a couple of spring leaves. That diff housing will be up against the floor with the extra weight of the wood, let alone the 70's UK Reg Triumph. Cheers from the Sunshine Coast, OZ. Chris. 👍🦘😎

I'm happy with whatever makes Chad happy. I just like seeing people take something, anything from an idea to a reality. I wish i could be free as Chad to wake up each day and follow his short term and long term dreams. It is something amazing to be your own boss. My grandfather was a mechanic in the war. He could have taken over his dad's gravel company. Instead he saved his money and followed his dream and bought a nice farm in southern Ontario. A beautiful farm in a valley with a river running through it. He built a garage and worked as a mechanic, bus driver and farmer. All things he enjoyed. He always told me if i had the choice in life of a job that pays more but you don't enjoy or a job that pays less but you enjoy. Choose the one which pays less. If you enjoy your work and life you will spend less money to make up for things and you will be much happier. Because of his move out of the city to the country. All 72 of his grandchildren were able to grow up wild and free in the country and learn farming, animals, chores, logging, mechanics and hunting. We all shared in the happiness of a man that followed his dream and passed it to us.

To all the people chastising the other people making negative comments, that's why comments are both good and bad!!! Otherwise they wouldn't be honest comments!!! If someone can't take the bad with the good or vice versa, then they probably shouldn't b putting themselves on camera and broadcasting for the world to see. Chad is a big boy and I'm sure he and Jolene can handle them.

Request. Could you ask people to send in drawings of ideas for current builds and show one or a few more on the show? That would be awesome. Offcourse you should create whatever you want. But it's great to hear your point of view, be it asteaticly or from a construction point of view. The (selected) pictures received could allso be shown (once a week) in an outtro?

Chad, how do lock the bike tray in so it doesn't slide out on its own? I love this project. It has been amazing how you've managed to transform this car into a roadster/hauler without needing to repaint the whole vehicle. Its looking incredible. Well done Chad, Doubles, Nathan, and Jolene.

Two things #1. It’s amazing the quality of work that you all accomplish without a bunch of high dollar tools. #2. It’s nice That Chad has the two excellent Team members helping with the build. My only comment ( Not Criticizing) is it hurts my back seeing so much work being done on the floor. I’m 71 and have a bad back. Ouch 😮 Great job a Team 👍

I worked on the floor for most of my life. Finally built a garage with a 36 foot long bench. Ask me if I ever used it. Too many things you cannot do benchwise. 86 years old and I'm still working on the floor. And yep, my back hurts. Small price,

What if you clamped a piece of angle iron along one of the lines and held along side of the die and then you would only have to line it up across the die instead of of in two directions. Then you wouldn’t have to use a line in the center to center it every time. Just a thought for the next time.

The louvers are to keep the water out when it rains or you're washing the car, right?

Nice save it was going south for awhile , Maybe put a inner skin under the louvers so water doesn't get in and rot out the floor board 👍

I think it would look good with just one sheet of lovers down at the bottom rather than two.... and I would put piece of sheet steel over the louvered holes on the inside to keep road dust, bugs, and bees from nesting in the car, but then again, it isn't going to see the road that often to worry about it.

Don't worry about making me happy or others that feel the same as I do ... I think you're making yourself happy now . On the very first day you loaded the bike in the back you realized that it looked like crap ( I seen it in your demeanor ) , but you had gone too far to turn back and continued to modify and modify to try and make it work . In the end . you're covering it up ... PS :- Look after that old Triumph , they aren't making anymore of them .

The DIY louver punch press is the nuts! @normrussle4364 offers a simple improvement. And I'll add these: Also a stop that would ride on the previous louver for equal spacing. A center mark on the punch would allow you to use just one line on the sheet metal for each row.

I think it was a great save. I bet you knew about the trunk lid idea before you even cut that bike hauler space. Gawds you were not making it into a truck after all.. now you have a great trunk that serves as a trunk a bike hauler and ( wait for it) a light truck. Geez all the whiners deserting in the middle of it all.. and Joline made it all look great!!!!! Kudos Bad Chad!!

@@errolbaker3554 yeah, not like there are absolutely any other 38's out there. Such a loss that so many purists insist on no new ideas for an old piece of crap. Except for perfect restoration. Chad I would strap the bike in the back of the car and take it for a ride to sees if loading it and unloading it is worth it. If you like it or it’s too hard to load then you know but you can say you drove with it on the back but you could make a bike trailer with a teardrop green sheet metal and make a video it would be cool

Good call in having one person run the lever. Took you only 7 minutes to cut the last 60 louvers (yup I'm OCD enough to time it). Great team work everyone doing something productive.
