This is a lovely setting of Yeats' mysterious poem that speaks of loss and the unobtainable.

I did not have a video with Judy singing this song. I studied it years ago for an exam in England (in a book with poems written by the author of the words : the well known Irish writer William Butler Yeats). Wonderful "Art song" as Judy Collins says. Great, very great thanks for this gem.

Quite a bit more moving than even the beautiful rendition on the earlier recording than she did. Thanks for sharing this.

this is my newest favorite song and thank you beta for posting this wonderful and entrancing video. . . . . . . . yeats glibly reminds us all of love's mysical dimensions. . . . . i humbly invite one and all to listen to my keyboard version on yt. . . .something unusual and i think special about this song is that various artists, including me, seem to run with it to their own chosen melodies . . . . and what a sight: it had become a glimmering girl!

Well in fact it is a very complicated very, very ancient scandinavian mythological story with a goddess (trout/salmon) which might have to be eaten for a positive resurrection through knowledge. Moreover this goddess (name given in scandinavian ...) is at the origin of life, everything ... Great ! Great thanks !

@parsonsrules Have you seen her in concert lately? She has resurrected several of the songs from those early albums, and most of her concert is done on acoustic guitar. Her new CD will be out June 8, featuring a duet with Stephen Stills on Tom Paxton's "The Last Thing On My Mind."

Listen to how unique Her voice is. That's what makes Her a star. Very few unique voices around today. Auto-tune isn't unique ,Just STUPID. Crotch-grinding isn't unique, just obscene .
