Yes. Mr Grainger was the best senior sales man. I felt they did him dirty in that one episode where he was acting like a child. Really hurt to see his character reduced to that. I like to think of The Clock being his last appearance, regardless of chronological order. He simply retired and lived happily with his wife for many more years. And even came to Grace Brothers from time to time to buy clothing and see old friends. It's also sad Mr Lucas left as well. His replacement, Mr Spooner, was an even more foul mouthed "young" know it all. Except less likable. Nothing to do with the actor I'm sure. Just how his character was written. I was not a real fan of Mr Harman either. Mr Mash was spunky, but generally not outright rude. A shame so many passed or left the show so soon. And now all the original cast is gone.

Well, the whole series HAS been out on home video for well over 10 years now through the BBC DVD label... That and there's a 2-season follow up sequel series they did to this in the early 1990s. The entire original main cast of Are You Being Served is unfortunately all dead. They lived long, productive lives into their 70s in most cases. Frank Thornton(?), Peacock himself, lived to into his early 90s. Besides rewatching all (blank?) seasons (I think the good ones were with Trevor Bannister myself), there's other shows like Fawlty Towers and Red Dwarf. I'm more of a Dwarf fan myself and hardly know anything about Fawlty Towers. The Brittas Empire is another good British comedy, too, and you can find it on KZbin... Brittas Empire never got televised or had a home video release in the US. The latter I can confirm for sure!

"...and in the excitement, I forgot to wipe the end." "That can happen when you're in a hurry." BRILLIANT WRITING|ACTING! And I might be in a minority here, but I think Mr. Tebbs was a *perfect* addition to the cast. I wish he had stuck around for another season or two.

I agree with you. Mr Tebbs was a good adder the cast. He was much more cheeky than Mr. Grainger. Having said that, I tend to quote Mr. Grainger much more often. "My trousers are coming down!" whenever my pants have ridden down with wear

I love this show,my mother got me addicted. One thing I can't understand is what was "Mr.Tebbs" doing in the dressing while everyone was returning in? I'm sure a quick answer would be that "Mr. Harmon" let him in there, but why sit in the dressing room? Why not in the office? Shows like this makes me wish we were immortal, just so this show could go on forever. I wish I was living then so I could reach out to them as a fan. I love "Are you being served?" & "Are you being served, again?".

Gail McLean, they did make a sequel called Grace and Favour; it was also called Are you being served? Again.

I hear you buddy, I found "Are You Being Served" when I was living in Louisiana in the early to mid 90's. I love Wendy Richard (Ms Braums), Mollie Sugden was a hoot, Ole Captain Peacock too. British comedy just isn't the same anymore. I've seen a few episodes of "Are You Being Served Again" it's pretty good. I love Ole Benny Hill and Monty Python too... Have a great evening...

The plot had them all returning in late from their holidays. Mr. Tibbs, on the other hand, was starting a new position, so naturally, he would come in on time. He would also have to familiarize himself with the Gents Dpt. general layout and asses the state of the fitting rooms. Also, you can access the hallway to Mr. Rumbold's office from there.

The handkerchief trick by the newbie in the men's dept. looks pretty cool! Lunch break for the newbie seems alright too. First day at work is usually really lousy! Orientation by colleagues sometimes can go wrong. - ex- "HR Rep." of a local college.

With reference to Mr. Luca's joke, Prince Charles was 29 in 1978. He must have been a dashing prince then.
