Why is GTA San Andreas: Original better than The Definitive Edition?

Short answer: Because GTA San Andreas 2004 is made with _love_ by people that even if they wanted to win money, they mainly wanted to make a good game and overcome what Vice City was. There's nothing in the "Definitive Edition" made for the love of videogames or wanting to overcome previosly released titles.

Rockstar didn’t make a mistake of hiring GS games, RS knew about their experience, Rockstar decided to use a worse version for the games base, and Rockstar didn’t make sure the game was tested properly before release. The real evil is Rockstar-they care more for quick easy cash than remastering one of the best games with proper care and effort. Yeah with how some remasters have been handled these past few years, I wish we would just get enhanced ports instead that support higher resolution and framerate... and proper widescreen if it didn't before. Destroy All Humans and Stubbs The Zombie are examples to follow on how to properly port 20 year old games for modern hardware while keeping the atmosphere and everything that made them fun.

My guess for the water is that the physics are of the original San Andreas but they replaced the water with UE4 water and now the water you see doesn't match up with the water physics. What's unfortunate the most about the Wasted and Busted screens is they don't have the classis San Andreas font anymore.

A lot of bugs and glitches in the "definitive" edition of san andreas were originally from the "remastered" version. Aka the ones used for the PS3, mobile and Xbox something(I forgot which one), maybe more. Grove Street Games most likely used the "Remastered" version of gta san andreas as a starting point since they published the remastered version too. HOPEFULLY Grove Street Games starts getting better at making "games" and actually make the game better than the original and also bring things back from the original san andreas

I would like to add that you can only move the camera vertically and horizontally when flying in the trilogy whereas in the originals(San Andreas), you can move the camera wherever you want. Another downgrade I encountered was the aiming and camera. Don't get me wrong, being able to move the camera and free aim is a big improvement for 3 and Vice City however the original San Andreas already had this function and when it was redone, it became even worse. For example, you can free aim but it'll automatically lock on to another npc whereas in the original you can break the lock on to keep free aiming so this is kinda annoying. Also, idk why they removed the health bars in San Andreas it was perfect. Lastly, they even removed the ability to shoot with L1 which is a bummer because using circle(i use the old control scheme) forces me to play claw which is awkward.

I was one of the sad few who, pre-ordered the trilogy drank the magic boot water and told everyone they were stoned. It was gonna be great. It was not gonna be some washed up POS game that rockstar did, and everybody dogged on me. Everybody gave me a whole Lotta crap, telling me I was wrong and I fought back on KZbin and everywhere else I was telling people you’re wrong. This game is gonna be great! I’ve got some health issues so I stayed up until midnight for the game to release. And of course in my time zone. It was like seven in the morning which is fine. I completely expected something like that, so I was extremely tired and ready to play the game. I got it download it and started playing San Andreas messing around with all the sudden the game stopped working. Rockstar had pulled the game from the launcher and making all of the game files Useless. So I cracked it and I still use the cracked version of the game. I have updated it and crack it again to the new aversion to fix some of the issues, but even playing side-by-side the original game with a lot of mods specifically, the definitive edition mods for the original trilogy. I can say that once you add a couple of things into the game it’s to the point where the definitive edition will run a little bit smoother as far as FPS if your computer can handle it. BUT IT’S FAR LESS RELIABLE crashes and stuff Cleo causes issues mostly but it’s ok. The older games oddly enough lag more often the the definitive edition has but the definitive edition has random crashes ect so no winning. The older games are better and it’s sad we will never get an official good release of the gta trilogy so pirate if you can’t!!

To add another missing detail is that in the classic version you could order gang members to attack anyone. In the definitive edition you can't and they become cannon fodder or simple bystanders. They don't even shoot at attackers most of the time

Мало того, что сильно бросается в глаза, оно ещё постоянно в точности следует не направлению движения игрока, а направлению камеры, что выглядит очень странно, если эту камеру куда-то в сторону повернуть. В ГТА 3, напротив, размытие смотрится довольно сносно, хотя, казалось бы, игра постарше будет. А вот в Дефинитиве, при всех его недостатках, по крайней мере когда я играл на ПК, мне такой эффект даже понравился, просто он работает как должен и не такой «навязчивый» для глаз, что ли.

In vice city definitive edition any thing I crash into such as lamp posts don’t just sink into the ground even after the latest update but in san andreas and gta 3 it still sinks into the ground

Mobile version is as good as the original. It has slightly better graphics and, more importantly, checkpoint system, which helps in hard missions. Also plane controls are much better in the mobile version.

Written July 10, 2022 I bet R* or Grove is going to make DE turn into No Man's Sky, where NMS was over promised as a "hugh grahical space simulator with tons of beauriful aliens/planets" on launch in 2016 but 6 years later, its basacally a new game. Ofcourse, DE is alreally a complete game story wise as a remaster, but fix it with a major graphic overhaul and boom, in 2027, we now have a better GTA trillogy than the Ps2 ones.

Some easter eggs from original version removed with Definitive edition also. You can search about this. How developers can remove good details from game for a remaster? Answer is : because this made by groove street games (small studio of rockstar) And, developers didn’t have enough experience with original GTA SA Like us, we nearly know every shit of game because its our childhood and we played this game somehow main stages of our life. This remaster shit, had amazing potential on it, with better weather dynamics or stuff like that. Update would be amazing but idk will it happen or not. If original developers of GTA SA participated at this work, something amazing would happen (imagine guys who made this game in 2004 , gonna do what in 2021.. Developers , should’ve choosen from guys with deep understanding and experience of GTA SA.

As someone who got the game right after release for PS2 and owns it on nearly everything today, I feel the utmost disrespect... Not everybody plays everything and that's just how the wide world of games go, but to see people obsess over GTAV and GTA: Online, but barely be familiar with 4 and say they enjoy THIS...
