I used to follow Beth Moore and participated in many of her studies. I stopped several years ago when she said she wasn’t voting for the Republican Party because the candidate was Trump. Look, I also didn’t want to vote for Trump or Hillary but Trump won my vote when he said he was pro-life and let us know how Hillary was for allowing killing babies up to birth. I will never forget that debate. I don’t trust Beth Moore and there are many others. I will never buy one of her books ever again!

Over 10 years ago, when I was watching Beth Moore's Daniel study, I noticed a comment she made that indicated she is Pro Choice. I wrote to her to ask her to let me know if I misunderstood, and eventually a representative of her company responded to me with a vague non-answer. That sent up a red flag to me about her going forward.

Beth should have done the honest thing, and left the SBC as soon as she turned her back on the value of the life of the unborn. The SBC isn’t perfect and it’s theology, denying the power of the spirit In favor of pretending that the canonization of the Bible meant that “the perfect came,” and that none of the gifts of the spirit were needed anymore. Progressive ideology is infiltrating there as well, But there is still a strong contingent to stand for Jesus, and the word of God. The fact that her company issued a non-answer to a very real and important question indicates that they valued profits above truth.

Makes me really sad. I did a Beth Moore study called The Patriarchs, and it really changed my life. I always struggled with my relationship with God the Father. I was attached to Christ, but didn't really have a true trust for the Father. Moore's study really led me through the old testament in a way that helped me draw closer to The Father. I'm disappointed in Moore for her own sake.

You're one smart boy! Beth Moore was my "Sunday school" teacher at First Baptist in Houston, she held great influence over the 400 hundred class members. Before the 2016 presidential election, she made the decision to publicly announce, she could not vote for Donald Trump. She used her vast influence to sway her many followers, by making her preference public, but it didn't work, and God put Trump in the White House. God has blessed her over the years by allowing her ministry to explode, but I think she takes her eye off the One that is calling the shots.

The story is the same over and over: Jesus accepts those who believe Him, and they are encouraged to recount their experience of Him. Helped start and attended a church in Simi Valley, Discovery Church, that went completely woke and started lecturing us about institutional racism. My wife and I left. The assistant pastor (a good guy) said I should reach out to the pastor about it. I said, "For someone at his age and supposed spiritual maturity to happily start dividing God's church, do you think there's really a chance he's going to listen to me -- listen to anyone?"

Same thing happened at my multi-campus church in 2020. Thousands left. Many hundreds met with the offending pastors and elders. They would not back down from their woke ideology. It was devastating. I’m thankful to have found a Christ-centered church where the inerrancy of scripture is taught. I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot. I pray the same for you.

I’ve had similar questions to the one posed to you. How can we know it’s appropriate to move on from a church? Part of me wonders if genuine believers just leave then what happens to the people who are lost? Is it our responsibility as part of the congregation to hold the pastor/leaders accountable? If so, what might that even look like? You don’t have to answer :) I’m just “thinking out loud” because I want to do what’s right and be spiritually fed as well.

Lack of teaching on repentence and sin. Woman pastors. Social justice pursuits (claiming one race above another). Little or no talk of what is happening in our evil, corrupt world. These are just some of the red flags. The word of God is active and alive. God will show you. I'm praying for you right now.

I know of a staff member at Rick Warren's church who resigned because of Warren's move to a more liberal theology. A Southern Baptist church I used to attend when I lived in Texas was quite conservative when I attended, but recently has allowed one of the staff pastors to teach at a seminary run by TD Jakes.

I have always been concerned about Rick Warren. When he stood in front of the SBC and told them female pastors were to be approved and that he wouldn't explain himself because it was a "secondary matter," I had all the evidence I needed. Run from Warren's teaching as fast as possible.

Years and years ago Beth was a fairly biblical Bible teacher for women’s studies. But over time, her theology got more and more weird / her hermeneutic became more and more twisted. Then she started speaking to groups of men and women. And many years later now, she’s off the rails completely. This is what shows how theology goes weird many years before these things happen. We need to be vigilant to test teaching all the time, and encourage and exhort as the Spirit leads according to the Word.

Imagine a church hiring people who are actually “called” to serve and hold positions - this is Biblical. Unfortunately, a lot of churches operate like a business. How sad. God looks at a person’s heart and so should we. It is interesting to watch churches truly becoming empty shells with no power and no truth. Many churches have truly become country clubs. How true, I have known several churches that drop the name "Baptist" because I assume they don't want to offend people. The do run churches as business, many churches hire and use programs that find out what would attract people to their church. Preaching the the gospel with sincerity and having true care and compassion for ALL members, regardless of background, influence, socio-economic status is not popular and difficult to find these days. It is better to have a small church preaching the truth with members that truly love and minister to all people no matter who they are.

When we become too dependent on the words of men and women who seem to be Christian teachers, we’re setting ourselves up for big trouble. Only God’s Word is 100% reliable.

Addendum: I appreciate the video, and you did a good job with it, Colin, but there were warning signs with Beth Moore LONG before tweets like this. Any teacher who laces her (or his) doctrine with getting direct "words from the Lord" (like Beth Moore regularly did) is a poison that is to be avoided at all costs. The problem is, it's not just the charismatics or pentecostals that talk like this. People in churches not traditionally labeled as charismatic or pentecostal have been talking like this for quite some time, and it softens people up for the idea that God can speak in ways outside of his ordained Word. And when these people who say they "hear from God" begin to drift away from biblical doctrine, you cannot question them because they insist that they hear directly from God. Ms. Moore is a prime example of this take, although she is by no means the only one.

Rick Warren isn't a born again Christian (at least he never was when he authored his popular book). People can like his book or not, but really following advice of a non believer who comes across as an "evangelical chrisitian leader" has always been questionable. Jesus said a person must be born again to inherit the kingdom of god. I don't know a single evangelical church that teaches otherwise.

I remember when she first hit the scene back in the day. All my lady church friends flocked to her meetings. I couldn't go because of my working hours. When I did see her on TV I was not impressed. She was high strung, trendy, and sensational in her style, not my cup of tea, but whatever, I'm a little obtuse that way. I much prefer the humble understated scholarly Bible teachers of sound doctrine, male or female. I want to know more about God, not looking for an emotional "experience".
