Back to riding after 15 years and purchased a big cruiser, I say that to say this - Thank you for having the heart of a teacher, such great real life training experience in your videos
Joe Lucas Hello professor, I am a 68 year old student of your channel. With the approval of my loving wife of 35 years purchased a 2019 Road King in June. Passed the rider safety course in July and watched just about every practice session you have put out. Only problem is now I can’t pass up pulling into every available parking lot to practice! I'm late for the party on this vid, but I surely enjoyed it never the less. I watch you, sir, along with Jerry Palladino, MC Rider, and MotoJitsu. I call it the "College of Rider Knowledge". And after class, I go to church. The church parking lot, that is. Today, my friend David joined me for church service on his Suzuki M90. David has many, many more miles in the saddle than I do, but today I got to school him a bit on slow speed maneuvers, as in; "Stay away from that front brake!" "Head and eyes!" "Look ahead, not down!", and so on. Overall, he did well because he listened and it was FUN! We'll be going to church together as often as schedules permit, and hopefully down to practice with you next year. PRACTICE IS FUN!😎

I just started following your channel and I love it! I'm a deputy in Marion County Oregon getting ready to retire in June... 25 years of service 50 years old. Never sat a stride a motorcycle until this last June, and I fell in love! Have a 2010 Street Glide, and I am practicing to be the boss of my motorcycle. 💪 One of the things that I love the most about writing a motorcycle and practicing, is that it's like trading at work, hella fun and deadly serious. Let's go!
I'm the guy who hasn't rode for years because of having kids and provide a life for them.I bought my bike of my dreams.Of course its allot heavier than my original bike. But watching you gives me confidence.I was going to sell it but now watching you gave me my dream back.Yes im going to take training class this sommer.Thank you

The mantra in every motorcycle skills video I’ve seen is “clutch control.” That’s still extremely important of course. But what was a revelation to me was keeping the throttle loaded and fixed - and even keeping the clutch position fixed in the friction zone, a rider can precisely moderate speed and control just with the rear break. Most skills videos just mention rear brake as a lesser component for some stability, but this gives me a new perspective and tool in my toolbox for improved confidence at slow speeds. Thanks Robert!

Hi , your lesson is of great value to many bikers. Thanks a lot and a salute to you .
I've been riding for 30 plus years and am so glad I found your channel. I ride a 19 Limited , heavy bike and have been fearful of slow turns but these videos have helped me learn so much!
THANK YOU! DON'T EVER CHANGE you amazing human! Before I found you I'd start off watching youtubers teaching motorcycle skills and then before I know it.... The channel becomes full of videos that make fun of others who don't have the skill. Or they share videos of horrible crashes and incidence that happen on bikes. I can't handle that kind of fear based teaching. So I just stopped watching...then when uploading my own video here, you came across my suggested list. I love how positive yet firm you are with your teaching. I have 2 bikes a sportster 883 converted to a 1200 and last yr my husband and I both bought cruisers. Mine is a hard candy gold fleck street glide. My first outing on the bike I almost bit the dust on a bumpy dirt parking lot. Then a while later I slowly tipped over while pulling into a parking spot... because I was never taught about the touchy front brake. In addition to that, I kept telling my husband the pull on the clutch wasn't right for me, it engaged too far out for me to feel like I had control. Well we fixed the clutch issue, it's awesome to have control lol but the ONLY reason I decided to put the money into changing my clutch pull was finding your videos. Before that, I was ready to give up. I had even purchased an online course a few days after I bought the bike and it was not helpful. I started watching your videos and it all made sense. Some how you made me feel like "I can do this!" I'm finally not terrified of my bike and though I still need tons more practice in the parking lot... I really enjoy it now! THANK YOU. PS I've been a pole dance instructor (online) for 13 yrs now and I wanted to take time to write to you because, students behind the screen can often forget to let you know how much you've helped them.

I'm a new subscriber, and I can tell you folks that he isn't lying about being a preloader. It is a very important skill to master. I too like Robert and Jerry have been thru police motor school. I'm still on the job unlike them, but coming to the end of it with 25 years in and 52 years old. I still ride for the Dept. (I'm in DC) but not full time given my present duties. I only get to ride for special events mainly now such as July 4th, demonstrations, and other events. In order to stay certified to ride the dept. motors, I have to go thru a yearly recertification course and test. In fact I have to do my yearly recertification and the end of May for 3 days. I was thinking about it and decided to see what people taught on KZbin. This and the Ride like a Pro channel are good. BTW folks these techniques work with ANY motorcycle, for instance, my personal bike is not a Harley, it is a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe and I assure you, it applies.

I've been watching your videos for a few months now. Really enjoy and finding it very helpful. Never rode a motorcycle before, in my 56yrs of life. I am starting my motor training with Harley Davidson the 22nd of this month. Really excited. I really like the road glide special. I know that a pretty big bike, first time riding. But, I have confidence in myself, and determined to learn the skills you're showing us. Great job!!!! I know practice, practice, practice. I really don't write comments, but when I finish my training and get my bike, I will definitely send a video. God Bless. Slowe.

I just wanna say sir I appreciate you taking the time and making it plain for me! Now I'm about to find your u turn video. I took a course and the u turn and these turns from a stop are my biggest problems by far. But thanks again for everything and I will be subscribing. ✊

Robert, I learned to use the rear brake several years ago and it was a game changer for me. Then I really started to understand the friction zone. I was pretty good with the throttle but you have brought it to the forefront with preloading and keeping it loaded !!!! Because of this I am now more aware of all of these things and getting them all to work in concert to give me more and better control over the motorcycle.

Your a great rider sir.I was off my 07 wideglide for almost 2 years due to 2 hand surgerys. I was still learning to ride this thing before they cut my hands.i took it out and found I had lost most of what little slow skills I had.( 1 to 10 maybe .5 ha ) Watching your vidios,I've learned more in a couple of hrs.than I did in 3 years of riding on my own,and a Harley Davidson class. No on ever said keep it loaded cover the rear break and friction. They just said use a little rear break if your to fast. Soooo ba k off fuel ease in clutch and press on rear break,OH shit, don't fall.I had no ballance, and could not seem to work thru it..1 have a 160 mile round trip coming up next week for the first real ride out of my neighborhood in too long. So I thank you very much for exercise number 2,and thank you much for your New York service.I lived in Hartsdale in the late 70s..I waited 45 years for my bike.the military and driving truck,no where to keep one.at 70,I love it,you made it better

Love the shirt! I am glad I started watching your videos. I was a little confused about preloading as another KZbinr mentioned preloading the front brake. I tried it on my last ride and it didn’t feel right. I could have sworn that my beginner motor instructors 18 years ago repeatedly said “do not cover the front brake!” Anyhow, I will practice in my head and out on a parking lot as much as I can. Thank you so much!

Mr. Simmons I have been watching hours and hours of your videos. I ride a Roag Glide Special honestly I am not a good slow speed rider ( I'm probably a 2). My girlfriend just bought her first bike never rode before. We watched your videos I took her out today in a huge parking lot used for motorcycle training. From tge word go she said pre load cover the brake head and eyes friction zone. Within the hour she was riding and shifting. She said all she heard was your voice. I myself have been practicing with her with your techniques I think im getting a little better I deffinaty feel less nervous. Thank you Mr. Simmons we appreciate your videos.
