The "smuggling" is just taking a couple useless items to the SAME VENDORS on almost every major planet. There's no skill or maneuvering past a point, and if you get caught it's just "STOP! You've violated the law!" all over again. Nothing comes of your smuggling, there's no intrigue, it begins and ends at the arbitrary decision of which items are contraband or not.
@KaitoverMoon Жыл бұрын

Mass effect also had a decent number of planets that were empty, for the most part. But the game made it worth exploring all the empty planets. Because you could easily look on your map and find the relevant things to look for. And maybe along the way you came across something else that was interesting. One of my favorite parts was when you entered into a new solar system, or was about to check out a new planet you would suddenly get a call From General Hackett. And that usually meant a small side involving a planet in that system. The empty planets in that game weren’t exactly empty. There was stuff, and there was a reason to explore them. Mass Effect 2 obviously did it better, where you could just slowly a planet and send Propes out to hotspots, They even had some other stuff that the scanners would pick up like a SOS signal. But even though you were finding empty planets, you were still finding plenty of stuff that would end up helping you out. You can’t have empty planets just for a sense of how small you are. That is a completely and totally subjective feeling. And if there’s a certain way, you’re hoping that players will feel about your game maybe you should relay it in an interview instead of a response from a review post.

Frankly, Bethesda's attempts to gaslight negative reviews for Starfield are just pathetic. It smacks of desperation on Microsoft-Bethesda's part to revitalize interest in a game that, just months after launch, the majority of gamers have simply written-off or moved on from. I know Microsoft was (and still is) desperately hoping Starfield would become another decades-long, pop-culture hit like Skyrim, to prop up Game Pass, but IT ISN'T 2010 anymore and the entire industry (devs and gamers) have moved on. The game Bethesda made was mid, especially compared to the myriad of GOTY-quality games that released this year. P.S. - The ONLY positive thing Starfield did for me was make me boot up (heavily modded) Skyrim again, and I'm have a blast, with a game that's 12+ years old.

Yeah I just did my own reaction to these responses and they are so cookie cutter generic that it's just hilarious and sad. Like for real, if it was about bugs or people who where spreading outdated or incorrect information, that would be reasonable. And acknowledging bad reviews is commendable. But Responding to bad reviews in this dismissive and pointless manner just does more harm than good. they should have just put out a general community post saying "We're acknowledging some of the common criticisms" and do it all in one big post that would help it feel more concise and direct and less generic. This just comes off as desperate and like they're in damage control mode.
@fenrir78789 ай бұрын
Are you serious? They compared Starfield to astronauts? Also, the space missions were very dangerous and had high risk of failure. It was about survival and achieving impossible. Starfield is video game. C'mon Bethesda, cut the crap. If you mess up the next Elder Scrolls, you’ll be hearing from me. Seriously though. Starfield has pretty great graphics, gameplay, and leveling system. To put such polished mechanics into an uninteresting setting where books are classical literature like great expectations, it shows a lack of imagination.

"the astronauts weren't bored on the moon!" okay, weird comparison? First, that was a monumental achievement for Human advancement and nobody had ever done that before. Starfield does not amaze by just....standing on a planet. Saying its supposed to evoke smallness is defeated by the fact that you can fast travel to literally anywhere else in a matter of seconds. There is no surface-to-space travel to really make it feel like you landed on a planet. Just an animation. And then saying there's a lot to do on those planets....what, like trek for miles to some random base thats been copy-pasted from somewhere else and kill the same copy-pasted enemies over and over? killing local wildlife because you needed some materials? Maybe the first few times its fun, but after a while that gets....boring!

I 1000 pointed Starfield, I'd say it's 7/10 at best, I'd give it a 6. The game overall is very wide, but very shallow. The only things that feel like they have any depth are the weapons and ship building. Most of the quest lines have their interesting points, but are otherwise pretty generic and could be swapped into any other Bethesda game if you just changed some elements. The companions are passable, but not really memorable. The temples where you find powers are laughably bad once you realize its the same thing every time. It just doesn't really do anything better or even as good as games that have come before it. Better story and characters: Mass Effect, better exploration and flying: No Man's Sky, better physics and mystery: Outer Wilds.
