@@garyporter1707 I won't ever. I have loved Rush from my teens to this day and seen them live and they are the best group ... or were... ever. But the similarity is that you can make huge music with just three men... that is comnpletely bonkers... especially with Rush. Neil Peart was a maybe the drummer ever... Even his drum set was amazing and they weren just for eyes and numbers but also used them and all kinda a bit weird instruments at least in Rock music. What many people may not realize is that the pace in their music was often very fast. Those three guys were really busy with what they played... oh man...

We saw Sting at Thetford Forest Live last month. I was frankly amazed that as a 72 year old (!!!!) he was still singing as well as when I saw him at Twickenham in 2007. Incredible artist.

Desert Rose and Fields of Gold are both worth a listen especially the guest vocals in Desert Rose, and Don't Stand so Close to Me is about a student who crushes on their teacher.

I saw the Police live back in 1981 during the Ghost In The Machine tour. This song was on their next album but I didn't go see them that time. Didn't realize that Synchronicity would be their last album. Another fun thing about the concert I saw in '81 was that the warm up band was Joan Jett and the Blackhearts who had the number 1 hit right then, I Love Rock and Roll.

For years I watched people dedicate this to their loved ones with no clue what the song really was about. Another song that suffers from this is “Love Song” by Tesla. It’s a song about a breakup and reassuring the dumped person that they’ll find someone else someday.
@gryffydd426 ай бұрын
The Police did several songs that sound cheerful, but have dark themes. Invisible Sun is about street violence. Every Little Thing She does is Magic is about never finding courage to confess love to someone. Wrapped Around your Finger is about revenge on a former boss or leader who was controlling. Still great music though, and amazing lyrics- often with literature references like mythology.

They sold out in Vancouver BC during the Syncronicity tour. I was so ticked off. So you bet I bought tickets when they had the reunion tour. They are killer live. And a lot of time they do little changes to the songs to keep it interesting to the audience and the band interested.

Another song in which the tempo counters the meaning is The Rolling Stones "Paint It Black," which has an uptempo arrangement despite being a lyric about grieving for the death of a lover. For a song about watching someone that really is a love song, here's Cole Porter's "I've Got My Eyes on You," sung and danced by Fred Astaire in _Broadway Melody of 1940._ kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2bSioRjrbigj6csi=C8D9RnUCftc7k4mO

I'll have to check if you have reacted to "And You and I" by Yes. That one is a love song, and is still one of my top favorites. The way I first understood this song was, it was a stalker watching the object of his fixation. Although, seeing it performed by The Breathless Choir did put a completely different spin on it. As in, you don't know if your loved one is going to have a next breath. @9:04 Imagine being able to tell your children and grandchildren that Sting was your school teacher. I think that would be awesome. For that matter, for those in the gaming community, I think it would be very interesting to say Zombie Cleo was my school teacher, as that was her profession before she went full time You Tube.

The funny thing is that if you change the song from minor to major it weirdly sounds more sinister. Also Puff Daddy doesn't pay royalties for sampling this song. He was ordered by a court to take the song down and for each day he doesn't he has to pay Sting a couple of thousand dollars. He just thought it was worth it to keep the song up. Sting says he's put a couple of kids thru college just with that money

I actually felt off when I first heard this song and he sang "I'll be watching you", I thought well that doesn't sound like it would fit in a romantic song, it sounded a bit too sinister, and then I remembered 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' and I thought weeell maybe this isn't the romantic love song that it makes it sound like
