I have to let you know that I am a huge Amy Lee fan (having actually meet her) and I can tell you she is classically trained and not only was in choir during middle and high school, but she also went to Middle Tennessee State for college where she was further trained. She not only killed it on piano, but her harp playing is impeccable as well, something I wish I could do. She is as down-to-earth off stage as she is on stage and this is something that shows in her singing and performing.

Always loved how Amy was able to merge her melody with Mozart strings sections from the Requiem's Lacrymosa (which are themselves in my opinion one of the most divine use of music we'll be able to find around, and I'm agnostic :P ). And this live performance is awesome, perhaps one of her best, thanks Beth for having brought it up with your usual competence and passion ;)

We've been blessed with 2 amazing videos in just few days... oh Beth, you rock girl. This album is just a masterpiece imo. Amy was so ahead of time, she did an entire "reimagined" album when "reimagined" wasn't even a thing, like nowadays. Synthesis concerts are honestly my favorite experience ever... both were so special. Her voice is just so mesmerizing, it takes you on an emotional journey and nurtures your soul. How lucky we all are to grow up listening to Evanescence... Thanks again for such a wonderful and genuine reaction. Many hugs your way.

@@benferguson4120 Lol where do you get your facts? Evanescence is simple the most listen female fronted band worldwide, Spotify and iTunes don't lie, hence why their last record was #1 in 24 countries, Ev is better than ever, each single have been #1 on rock charts aswell, they sell out every concerts since 2015 til next year continuosly, they are free from labels and still making great music, rock is not mainstream, yet everytime they release anything it gets on top of mainstream and rock charts aswell bc people know and love how great they are. If you are stuck in 2003, that's your problem, the band has had three #1 records in a row since then, probably what you like is the average guitar playing and forced male vocals, but to say BMTL is their best work is dull, just proves what you like to hear is average rock radio stuff lol

Based on what is (allegedly) the last music Mozart wrote before his death, the beginning of the "Lachrymosa" from his "Requiem", finished off by someone else (perhaps Salieri). The way Amy goes from head to belt and controls her dynamics is amazing. My Immortal and Sober are my two Evanascence favs though this is close :) Also check out her singing "Bring Me To Life" with the Waggaki band from Japan, one of those collabs that sounds odd but works amazingly well.
@ashtonhettich91953 жыл бұрын
The Lacrymosa movement was only a sketch. Movements 1, 2, 4, and 5 of Mozart's Requiem (where the classical music of this particular piece comes from) were completed. This is 14 movements and this--movement 7--along with 3, 6, and 8-14 were completed by Franz Xavier Süssmeyer and were written to mimic what Mozart would have done. The Requiem was Mozart's 626th piece of work and was started right before the king of Austria poisoned him out of jealousy for taking all the attention away from the royals. Jealousy can really bite sometimes, am I right?

one of my favourite things she's done with her voice was in the song "missing" "Maybe someday you'll look up And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one Isn't something missing?" she sings "one" and "is" so quietly that you can barely hear them, but somehow that makes the emotion of it hit you like a truck

I know this is a two year old video, but I just wanted to comment that it's very cool to me that you compare her voice to a violin, because I have full-time sound-color synesthesia, which means sounds have color and shape to me, and I've said for years that her voice looks exactly the same as a violin's sound to me. She really does handle her voice exactly the way violinists play, and it's a beautiful, beautiful sound.

Amy Lee is one of those extremely rare vocalists that can tell a story, not just sing. Very few vocalists have this ability … especially females. Others that come to mind are Aaron Lewis, Tom T Hall, George Jones, Karen Carpenter and john Denver. Most on this short list are pitch perfect and always in tune. Others (Lewis and Hall) are just so emotionally connected to the song it comes through.
