James blew his voice out i belive in the late 90s and he started to see a vocal coach. This was 99 I wonder was all the technical things you spoke about a result of trying to change his singing habits?

He blew his voice out in late 90 early 91 during the seasons for The Black Album after singing the song So What. He didnt really heavily modify the way he sung in this video until maybe 96 around load and reload in 97. I think it was a little outta necessity due to him still struggling a bit and his voice deepening as well as some personal stylistic changes.

I think this S&M album was probably the height of James’ vocal abilities. He had a lot of rawness early on, but during these years he had refined his pitch and tone a lot more.
