RIP Kenny B. That man single handedly kept up my love for cars, without him doing the Gymkhana videos.. I highly doubt I would have stayed this much into cars. I still have a Modified Magazine with KB on the cover for Gymkhana 2.

Just wanted to pay my respects to Ken Block. Someone said something that really struck me and I’m paraphrasing but: Ken did more for rally, racing, drifting and driving than pretty much any other driver in history. While he wasn’t the most successful as far as podiums, he brought MILLIONS of young kids into the enthusiast fold with everything he did. Gymkhana and drifting became household names because of him. Rest in horsepower, Ken. You were and always will be an absolute legend without question.

Damn. Hearing these guys talk about Ken just makes my heart hurt for the family and for the world. Ken was such a pioneer in the field of cars.

Crazy timing of this video but at least it was created and stored in the KZbin time machine. This will end up being the true hoonicorn just because Ken wasn't really able to go full out in it. Thank You Matt and Zack for making it even possible, as usual. Happy New Year, even at this most somber of car guy moments.

Its an electronic thermostat. Ford has used them from early 2000's. Idea is better fuel economy at higher coolant temps and then on demand it opens the thermostat to keep cool.

I can’t imagine that car not making a run up the mountain this year, ken wouldn’t want all that effort and love from so many people into that car to die with him.

He had such a great impact to the car community! And to those wondering Colin Mcrae (age 39), and Paul Walker (age 40) ... which makes Block one of the cautious ones.

I meant to say this in the other podcast but even my 996 Turbo does this where the gauge gets colder when you go WOT a few times rather than hotter. Sitting in traffic idling in the heat is what makes it go up.

Matt keeps ranting about how novel the idea of raising the oil and water temperature when cruising for the sake of efficiency is. My 2013 BMW X5 does this. it's been around for a long time with several brands.

644 whp from a carrera s with stock internals is an absolute sleeper, I don't care what kind of fuel you have to use, that sounds like fun and we (Californians) have plenty of E-85 gas stations (I run E-85 and Meth on my ZL1) and I love the way 992's look (Even with the fat booties) but even used they're just so expensive!!

We're 4 days into 2023, we gotta be in the warranty return period right? Also a thing about entropy and a closed system, the maximum amount of cooling is the maximum amount of cooling and the cooling capacity is fixed regardless of what the thermostat will do to flow. People build watercooled pc's and sometimes think having a seperate loop for the gpu and a seperate loop for the processor will result in lower temps than running them both in a single bigger (combined) loop but it doesn't work like that. If the cars cooling can dissipate 1.5Million BTU's per hour that is the limit end of story, having the radiator section of the loop recycle more might seem like a god way to dump allot of cool water when load increases... but you can just as easily cool the whole loop including the engine block itself which therefore acts like a larget thermal mass so the temperature fluctuations are slower. As Randy P or any physics professor and see if I'm talking out my ass.
