V? Pulling us along with a carrot on a stick. V on the other is given a few options, that boil down to “will you go out in a blaze of glory, or be surrounded by your loved ones as you die”

Up until this point in the story, I got the impression that Reed is someone that will manipulate and withhold his true intentions and holds the mission above all else. In the past, this may have been backing the NUSA, but now, who knows what his true intentions with songbird are. It's personal for him, and he'll say whatever he needs to say to V in order to fulfill that personal mission. But, to his credit, it's very clear that songbird is withholding information from V as well, and is just as skilled in manipulation as Reed. This results in playing a zero-sum game where you ultimately stand to gain absolutely nothing from helping these people, regardless of what choice you make. My rationale in saving songbird here is that she is the only one that actually gives a promise that makes personal sense to V--She claims to be able to save V from the Relic. What do Reed, Alex, Myers, Hansen, or anyone else in this DLC promise? Nothing. They're far more concerned with their own personal goals.

IMO. Songbird was manipulated and made what she is. And that Songbird is reflection of V in some way. Saving Songbird therefore is saving V's conscience. V may not have a way out - yet, but by saving Songbird, you are in a way saving V. Is Songbird willing to use anyone to get what she wants? Yes. But that is literally what NUSA made her to be. A tool of destruction. V sympathizes with that, and in the end saves her and prevents corps from getting what they want.

Sent her back to the NUSA, she’ll continue losing pieces of her self until she eventually goes brain dead. Killing her is unfortunately the only way she can escape her fate. The world of Cyberpunk is unforgiving.

There’s no right choice in this scenario. V, once again is way in over their head. You either piss off a Goverment or a netrunner who is compared to a nuke. Both use V as a tool, a means to getting what they want. Both use manipulation and half truths. I tried to pay attention to their dialogues and not any of them ever said anything you didn’t want to hear. As Johnny said “it’s always for the greater good” or “there’s no other choice.” I wish there was a choice to just betray them all and take the tech for yourself. I ended up choosing Song Bird simply because I wanted someone I know who knows how best to use the tech for Vs best chance of survival

You can infer a lot that Reed is just lying through his teeth while Songbird was lying out if desperation. He says has contacts, his ending the NUSA doctors fail to help So Mi, and you are a shell of yourself in their ending, even if he had the best Europe contacts the conversation with Hellman on the main missions shows for V he can only recommend what's essentially hospice care. Meaning that even their best can't help either of them. Out of all things that Johnny Silverhand is wrong about, the NUSA is where he is 100% right about.

I did the second option and sided with Reed, now i'm in the mother of all big boss fights with Kurt and i am simply not equipped for it. Something else to watch out for, that last Ripper doc meeting to have the camouflage mask and the behavior mods implanted also affects some of your cyber ware implants. The tranquilizer projection launcher hack, my go-to cyber arm, no longer works as it used to. That big boss fight is dragging on a bit now.

In what way was Reed a hypocrite? If anything he's the only one that's clear about his intentions. The biggest hypocrite is SongBird calling you a 2-faced snake, when she has only ever lied to you the whole time up to that point. Even at that point with them all there literally to rescue her, she was playing both sides, and had a back up plan to get you all killed.

Songbird tells Reed that when he "helped her" by recruiting, it's where all her pain began. She is aware that Reed is a good person, but it's also a loyal dog who will do everything by the book, and that isn't going to help her.

@@exiavaganza The Rogue AI's have no reason to call you a 2-faced snake. You aren't betraying them. SoMi is the one that feels betrayed. Going along with her plan means trying to purge them from the body they are trying to take over anyway, which is more against their goals. As I see it, it's kinda like the Spider-Man with the Symbiote, where it heightens her worst impulses. Or like using the Dark Side of the force, where it becomes this thing that is harder to resist, but it's still her at that point. And is there a specific point where she specifically says, she didn't want to reach beyond the Blackwall ever? I realize that she was pushed to go deeper and deeper by the job, the FIA, by Myers; but I feel like she was also the cocky sort, to think she could do it without any consequences until it caught up with her. She is a victim of their schemes, but not without blame of her own. And that's the tragedy of Reed's arc as well, if you go with the ending where you side with him, and kill SoMi when she asks. He realizes that this thing that he devoted his life to, this thing that he believed in and did so many terrible things in service of, had swallowed up all the people he cared for. That he never really saved them, he just damned them a different way. But I do believe he was going to help her, like he says before the mission. He would have gotten her out. If the plan had worked, he wouldn't have had to turn her in, Hanson would have been the fall guy for the whole thing. But 2 things made it impossible, her turning on you and going rampant. And him realizing how far gone she was, he thought the only ones who could save her were back at the NUSA.

Despite everything he says about hating Myers, protecting Songbird and doing it for the best, it was clear at least to me that he's simply a pawn who has no say on his own life. Willing to shoot anyone for the sake of following orders and "serving the country" When Songbird revealed that there was only one cure available I was pissed, but I realized that she doesnt deserve what shes experiencing and was desperate to be free, and for me to give her back to the NUSA after having gone through all that would just be a waste. As much as how selfish and manipulative she was, I can see how V could do the same if he was in the same situation and had the knowledge so. Thought it would be better off to be selfless and send her to the moon because giving her back would ultimately kill her while the NUSA having a WMD in their pockets.

​@@sgxsaint3130 For sure. 100% agree, he is absolutely Takemura. Honor & Duty in service to a Gov, instead of a Corp. Which is why I don't see him as a hypocrtie. He's another victim of the FIA, he just is clinging to the belief that it meant something greater. The realization comes to him at the very end, after the SoMi death ending. He was resposible for his team, but ultimately he was the one that led them to their fates. The thing that he devoted his life to had swallowed them up. It's a tragic arc, but there is hope for him to choose a different path after. The reason I side with Reed over SoMi, despite seeing them both as victims, she was the one that got them all dragged back in. She was the one that showed how she was willing to lie, cheat, and burn everyone to get what she wants. She was too chaotic, and ultimately too far gone. Even then, the last thing she says before the choice, is that she is going to turn the entire stadium defenses on to create a distraction. You know, the stadium that you go through at the start of the questline, filled with markets and civilians? She doesn't care how many people have to die to save herself. And that is all her, that isn't the FIA or Myers. But even still, she don't deserve to be sent back for them to use her, so that's why I prefer the ending where she dies, and even gets a bit of redemption, resisting the Blackwall enough to keep it from killing V, and holding on to her last shred of humanity. And always tell off Myers. That is Canon.

One thing that I quite didn’t understand is why Alex is sacrificed when you side with reed ? It’s like, is that reed’s plan ? Is it songbird reacting ? Is it something else I don’t know ? Because why couldn’t Alex deal with Hansen when you side with reed ? While when you side with so mi, she completely destroy him. But thank you for your response, I just finished PL for the second time yesterday, and this time path to reed and chose to fulfill so mi last wish because I honestly believe this is the « best ending » meaning that we don’t really known MR blue eyes intentions with so mi. And Reed in this ending finally realize what he did or didn’t do and may move on with his life, and with his so mi history.

Btw make sure you have that shotgun or should I say rocket launcher? Fully upgraded max damage over 1100that you get from dam smasher ship with you I run right up too the bad guys and set it off point black all I can say, complete, carnage

FULL DISCLAIMER MAJOR SPOILERS FOR PHANTOM LIBERTY ENDING. Honestly the story of the dlc really disappointed me, regardless of the fact that the ending sucked more the games original endings, I chose to betray songbird and continued along that path only to feel guilty and I felt that I made the wrong choice. But when I searched online I found out that I was right all along not to trust her. the bitch only meant to save herself, but when I betray her she acts like a hurt puppy and like I am the bad guy. The game itself makes you feel bad and they don't tell you that she was gonna betray you anyway... why? This is just stupid. Loved everything in the dlc except the ending.
