This video is by far the best tutorial to make a beautiful, professional looking pouch! The instructions are very clear and show every step including the actual sewing at the machine which a lot of tutorials fail to do. The sewing instructions also include the seam allowances and the stitch lengths. Thank you for sharing this video! Can’t wait to make my first zippered pouch!

So nice of you to build a group of bag sizes and directions for a pattern. I don't use patterns much myself so I can see how you made the original without. Have no idea where it comes from but I look at a design or think up my own and I just sew without patterns. I have a good basic back ground in sewing via 4-H in the 60's but my godmother took me under her wing for one super simple dress pattern for my first 4-H entrance which had 3 pieces. A neck facing, a front and back. The front had two breast darts and that was the total. The following year I took on a hand smocked dress pattern and with ZERO help from anyone I figured it out and it was amazing. I wore that dress for 4 straight years all the way into college. Anyway I started doing utilitarian sewing early and cut my teeth on Frostline down jacket kits and away I was off making custom designs and I make a bag similar to this only it is self lined out of coated nylon taffeta and no seams show but it is one straight piece. I have to reinvent how it's turned every time I sew it. But it was made for expensive driving maps so that the coating never touches or bleeds through the fabric to ruin maps over time. Of course it could be for any item but I needed it for expensive maps bought which included national parks. It would work for airplane maps too. They are relatively water and moisture proof as well because they are double layered. For this bag I would just know what size to make it based on what I would plan to put in it. Or if for a gift I would make a decent sized one and might line it with a coated nylon or taffeta if the gift might be used for make up. That way it would again be leak resistant if not fully water proof due to the zipper. I have water proof zippers by the yard though. I love little bags and the little box style bags. So many simple designs if you know the techniques. I had no idea that many of the ideas I thought to use to box a corner when I was in my 20's actually would be shown one day by videos on line. Yet here we are KZbin tutorials and so many lovely people like yourself sharing them. I enjoy just watching people make lovely things and especially winging it without a true pattern. My husbands given up asking me if I saved the pattern. I tell him I don't have one. A bag I made for a neighbor this last Dec she wants me to make one for a friend of hers. I told her I would but she has to bring me her bag to inspect because I didn't have a pattern I just needed a huge bag to present her with the two queen style shams with pillows inserted and the extra large matching shag throw I'd whipped up out of a King size shag two sided blanket. Now how to wrap it up and why not make a quick 34 inch tall gift tote out of marine vinyl and nylon webbing handles to match the Shag fabric. Voila. I have no idea of the dimensions at this time. Or what I actually did. I've made complicated items and super simple like the tote but I do not add to my memory bank just what I did. In my youth I did but in my 70's it's a mystery as soon as it leaves my house. I no longer take photos or bother to remember the actual items. I make it all up the next time. But if I see what I did then I can take measurements and repeat or better still improve on the original. Pockets for example in a tote or fully zippered top. People who are beginners however often want a PATTERN as you discovered. and who are we to judge that need. Heaven's I am sure I need all kinds of help that others find a natural talent for. My Cell phone for example. I've never learned to down load apps or use it except to make a phone call. I don't know how to text. I know but we live in a county 78% of it has zero cell service and it left us behind the times. I'm off to watch a couple more of you deisgns. I see some fabric bags that are lovely.

At first I thought - persnickety, but well worth the extra effort if you want nice bags to gift. I made the whole set of 5, and am proud to give them as a gift. The tabs on the sides show up so nice and perfect. Good idea to lower stitch length when going around curves - it helps get a nicer curve. The only rec would be to let folks know right side up/down when adding the lining. Some people won't quite understand. My fabric didn't have right or wrong lining sides.

Back in Covid times, I cut out a myriad of squares only to choose a different pattern, necessitating new fabric. Finally decided to do something with former, which were stored in a metal cookie box. I followed someone else's tutorial = too fast, no verbal instructions. Too bad I also didn't know about adding "zipper tabs". I gave away 4 pouches I considered just tossing in the trash. Sewed 30 more. Kept seven of the different fabric combos for myself. From now on I'm ONLY using your tutorial (share / send to myself in a text). Many others to delete from my Saved to me Messages. Tho I will add MITER corners cuz I prefer the "sit-up" style
