BCS for me is nearly perfect…..absolutely love it. I like BB a lot, it’s great, but the midair collision over Albuquerque was too much for me…..

What I like about BCS is that it has it's own "feel." It doesn't try to recreate the same atmosphere or tone as BB. It has its own clear DNA despite having many of the same characters and the same setting. Even if you had never seen BB, you could still enjoy BCS which is pretty rare for a prequel.
@swagmundfreud6663 ай бұрын
I love how it "rhymes" with BB tho, for lack of a better word. For example how Walt and Chuck's illnesses rhyme, how Jimmy breaks bad in his own way, and there are so many lines that are really subtle knods (and not so subtle knods) to lines in BB. Or how important the courtroom is to BCS as a place, which to my knowledge there are literally no courtroom scenes in breaking bad. Or I love how many throw away lines in BB were turned into massive plot lines in BCS.

Better Call Saul is a very different show than Breaking Bad, but at the end I feel like its season 6-11 of Breaking Bad because of how it remains the exact quality as Breaking Bad and since the last episodes are after Breaking Bad so it requires you to watch Breaking Bad First.

it is critically acclaimed though, everyone agrees it is a good show (it has 9 on IMDB & 98% on rotten tomatoes). it's just the fact that it didn't win a single emmy (that's like the oscars for tv shows) that makes me question the reliabality of certain award shows. how can Game of Thrones season 8 win best drama in 2019, and Better Call Saul win nothing in its entire run time.

Saul got the redemptive but tragic ending that Walt didn’t get or deserve. I loved that dynamic though of the contrasting character arcs toward the end. We start BB with Walt breaking bad and descending where Jimmy starts bad and descends down badness and breaks to good. Vince is victory lapping with everything he learned prior so of course it will always be in some ways better and tighter but it never feels like it’s competing with BB anyways. They perfectly compliment each other.

@Elliottklassen7 ай бұрын
@@squiddesauce9589 I am 25 years old, and while I’m classically trained on piano, my current musical endeavours are mostly on guitar, bass and drums, and are entirely contemporary. The music that I write is also not particularly old-fashioned in any sense, and almost all of the music that I listen to is modern (within the last half century). I never said that current music doesn’t have value. However, music nowadays is often used as a marketing tool more than an expression of art, which wasn’t really an issue in the past. While I absolutely believe that there is just as much quality music being produced today as in the past, I also believe that a result of modern technology making music more available, as well as the unprecedented amount of money associated with the industry, is there’s also much more bad music being produced than ever before. Anyways, my original post wasn’t aimed at modern music vs old music, but rather peaceful music vs constant noise. Nowadays it can be very difficult to escape noise, and regardless of the quality of the music you’re listening to, sometimes it is refreshing to slow down and listen to something from a time when life was simpler. That’s what I thought the music from this video was: refreshing; not superior.

I've watched breaking bad in its entirety 8 times so far, its the perfect show to rewatch because its so saturated with details. Every time you rewatch it you figure out something new, a new motive, the reasoning behind a specific action or just smaller details that hint at the future plot. But I have yet to rewatch better call Saul, its an almost perfect drama but its slow paced nature makes it very difficult to rewatch compared to breaking bad. I wouldn't consider either of them better than one another, they're perfect examples of completely different genres.

Great villain.
@PeterMoore667 ай бұрын
I found the exact opposite. I've rewatched BB a couple of times, but I've watched BCS at least 6 or 7 times. BCS has just as many opaque plot points which take a while to play out as BB does. But BCS has much better cinematography. BB's "fast forward" scene transitions showing time passing get repetitive when re-watching. People say that BB is all action - but no-one remembers Marie's shoplifting storylines! BB is about people doing bad things. Walter becomes Heisenberg within 1 season. There's very little examination of what made him break bad. He takes to it very quickly, and just gets worse. But BCS is rewarding to rewatch (for me anyway) because Jimmy's path to becoming Saul is a long road of small events and decisions. When rewatching, you can't help but hope he takes the right path for once. And just as BB became the story of Jesse, BCS becomes Kim's story, and we follow hoping that she isn't corrupted along with her husband. BCS for me is rewatchable precisely because it is slower. Because it has a shit-ton more subtext than BB had, and that's unsurprising because the production team were already veterans of dealing with those characters.
@SaulGoodman-w2x7 ай бұрын
I don't accept the BB - Fast, BCS - Slow notion. BB was also very slow for prolonged periods of time. The entire Marie as shoplifter storyline, the Walt - Skyler divorce storyline, the Jesse is depressed storyline (twice), the Hank is depressed storyline, etc. I think when people think BB, they think the BB finale which was bonkers indeed but doesn't describe the entire show.
@TwentySeventhLetter7 ай бұрын
I agree that it's not so simply reduced to one fast, one slow, but I do think it's still accurate to describe the overall pace of BCS as _slower_ than BB, especially when the high stakes climaxes of BCS seasons necessarily have lower stakes (fewer lives on the line) than BB. Often they take place in some kind of intense argument/debate where everyone walks off and sits with what happened rather than bandaging literal wounds and spinning more elaborate lies about what's about to erupt like Vesuvius.

@@plugshirt1762 It is clear that you have never been a victim of somebody with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Look it up in the Diagnostic Systems Manual (used by all psychotherapists). Watch some videos on the subject. People with NPD are dangerous. It would take a lot of writing to list the symptoms of NPD, but here are a few examples of Chuck's narcissistic perfidy: Chuck's illness is an attention-getting device. He takes pleasure in the power of making naive, kind people jump through hoops. Narcissism. When Jimmy, a loving brother, does onerous daily deliveries to Chuck's house (at Jimmy's painful expense), Chuck cheerfully allows this to continue as an exercise of his power over Jimmy. Power is candy to a narcissist. Chuck, incapable of shame, takes pleasure in manipulation and exploitation. Narcissism. If you have been foolish enough to trust a person with NPD, and if you then see through their cunning manipulation/exploitation/abuse, the person with NPD will, in revenge, attempt to do you any harm that they can, they will try to destroy your life, just as Chuck did when he tried to get Jimmy disbarred. Classic NPD. When Howard Hamlin decides that, for the sake of the survival of the law firm, he must persuade Chuck to retire, Howard then exercises exquisitely tactful, respectful, empathetic maneuvers to gently move Chuck toward withdrawal. For example, he reminds Chuck that Chuck had always wanted to teach students at a law school. Instead of yielding to this gentle persuasion, Chuck declares that he will nuke the law firm, willingly destroying the livelihoods of all who work there. Ugly, evil vengeance. Narcissism. Chuck's choice of means for suicide is pure, evil narcissism. A decent person who commits suicide will do so in a way to cause the least distress to those left behind. Chuck, in contrast, chooses a means of suicide guaranteed to inflict the greatest possible horror and anguish upon those left behind. Narcissism. Someday, when you recognize that a person with NPD has manipulated, exploited, abused you, you will not be laughing out loud. Then when they exact exorbitant revenge against you, it will take a good long while for your helpless rage to diminish.

Yes you're correct, but again the first ep drew almost 7 mil viewrs and it went down the next episode literally. @@The_EverythingYT In total fairness this is a trend notable in all of television, and I think the overinflated numbers settling down after is more a statistical correction as all the people who were never gonna watch the whole series leave and the remaining viewership is made up of people genuinely intrigued by the show on its own merits.

I Skipped All of the cartel Scenes . Because they are not connected to Jimmy for 90% of the Time I watched entire show only when Jimmy is on screen or in the scene It's like Watching 2 Different Shows at once, which is a Setback And those Cold Openings, and these 2 Stories telling structure for 58 Episodes (Excluding Final 5 episodes because they tell only 1 Story i.e abt Saul) really did feel bloated and stagnant I wanted to watch for Saul cuz he is the Main Character as Title suggests and watched him only and enjoyed Cartel stuff is irrelevant cuz they don't revolve around Main Character, Most of the Time I know it's a Prequel/Spin Off and they wanted to show Gus Empire, But they can't connect it Coherently to Saul's Story due to events in BrBa. They Gave 50% Screen Time for Cartel Stuff and 50% For Saul Storyline which is Really bad when they are Not Connected for Most of the Time. So being a Prequel is both Pro and Con for BCS That's the reason this show didn't win award, you can Really feel the repetativeness of screenplay by the end When Gus Left and Focus Shifted Completely Towards Saul for Final Episodes (As It Should be from the Start, Which is Fundamental Rule of Story Telling) It was Fantastic Jimmy and Chuck Storyline is Best From the Show. It is Very Impressive and Impactful and Unique and Special Chuck is Brilliantly Written Solid Unique Antagonist, you can never conculde whether he is Right or Wrong

Game of Thrones season 8 won best drama in 2019 and look how much of a mess that was. so i dont think the reason it didnt win any award was because of the screenplay. and let's say it is because of that, why didn't the first 2 seasons win any,? they were mostly focusing on Jimmy. and about skipping, I would'n dare to skip anything tbh. the cartel stuff led to one of my favourite episodes (Season 5 ep 8 and 9)
@abhisheks-ys7dz7 ай бұрын
@@The_EverythingYT Bagman and Bad Choice Road are also one of the best episodes but doesn't change the fact that Cartel and Jimmy's Storylines are separate For 90% of the Time, 50% of Cartel Show in BCS is Minus point when they don't have choice to connect to Saul due to BrBa Even From Saul's Perspective he don't know anything about Lalo, or what's Going on in Cartel World which is half the show. About Lalo he just knows a Tiny Bit to say atleast. (So You can See Those Episodes 8,9 S5 Just Fine, even if you didnt watch Cartel Scenes. It's like seeing these Events from Saul's Perspective Only, which gives a Special unique experience for Viewer) Saul accepts that 7 Million Dollar Job Due to Fear or Money, and Thinks Nothing's gonna happen. he has no clue that danger definitely happens in situations like this even after Kim warns Him. that's how Disconnected story lines are, Lalo is Created to somewhat Joint these 2 story lines I didn't watch any of GOT Tho. About awards, I said as a Whole Show without considering Specific Seasons. Still BCS doesn't Follow the "Focus on One Main Story at a Time" Rule. A Story can have Multiple Story Lines like GTA V but they have to be connected in a single main Story, Which is a Fundamental Rule. Or Else It Becomes Bloated or doesn't Work in any scenario. I Don't know what season 1 and 2 were competing during that time because I don't Follow Awards That Much But Screenplay is a Major Player when it comes to Visual Media BCS Fans Don't Feel this issue bcs, Most of them watched BrBa First and Wants to See Cartel Stuff, and even defames first 3 Seasons. But If You See a Independent Series like this With 2 Different Stories at Same Time many wouldn't praise this screenplay and feel bloated Season 1 is really Award Worthy "You are not a Real Lawyer" is my Favourite Scene of the Show and This Scene is What Mostly Comes into my mind When I think of this Show. It's so Flawless Lighting during Chuck Scenes Feel like Vince/Peter used Electricity disorder as an excuse to have that Awesome Lightings in every Chuck Scenes 😅 And this is coming from Fan who adores BrBa

I honestly think the whole series felt a little bloated at times. Consider this, Breaking Bad had 62 episodes, and it was full of iconic moments, character arcs, twists you name it. It managed to achieve so much in those 62 episodes. How many episodes did Better Call Saul have? 63. Only by 1 but Better Call Saul had more episodes, and while overall it was a good season with a satisfying conclusion, I think there’s a ton of fat that could’ve been trimmed. The least interesting parts were all the lawyer scenes, and the character doesn’t add up to how he is in Breaking Bad.

lol the stuff you said to trim is some of the best parts of the show. If anything the cartel parts could be trimmed more as they felt a lot less interesting by contrast. I felt like every episode of better call Saul was amazing and its slower pace just helped to make it feel more personal and like it manages to accomplish far more than breaking bad ever did.

I Skipped All of the cartel Scenes . Because they are not connected to Jimmy for 90% of the Time I watched entire show only when Jimmy is on screen or in the scene It's like Watching 2 Different Shows at once, which is a Setback And those Cold Openings, and these 2 Stories telling structure for 58 Episodes (Excluding Final 5 episodes because they tell only 1 Story i.e abt Saul) really did feel bloated and stagnant

@@abhisheks-ys7dz worst way to watch the show ever, you watch the show or you don't. There's no in-between smh

@@pg_beatz I wanted to watch for Saul cuz he is the Main Character as Title suggests and watched him only and enjoyed Cartel stuff is irrelevant cuz they don't revolve around Main Character, Most of the Time I know it's a Prequel/Spin Off and they wanted to show Gus Empire, But they can't connect it Coherently to Saul's Story due to events in BrBa.

Very nice video. I love both shows equally for different reasons. Better Call Saul is probably more clever but Breaking Bad is probably more entertaining. For example, BCS has you believe that Howard is a typical douchebag but then you realise he was actually a decent man and he was ruined by Jimmy. There are many other examples but this one always stood out to me. I could talk for hours but I won't!
